When opening new tab, a new window opens instead; 2nd window does allow you to open new tab

boot up firefox, click to open a new tab, a new window opens up instead; in the original window, if you keep clicking to open a new tab it opens it in the 2nd window.

I'm having this problem, but I don't have the textarea cache add-on, nore the MozBar 2.3.
Now that I think about, I did just update an add-on (imtranslator), maybe that's what causing this to happen for me..
edit: yep, disabling it fixed the problem for me.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Pages 5 can not open Pages 5.1 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Note: Apple has removed over 90 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

It sounds to me as though you are attempting to open a Pages 09 document with the Pages 08 application. If you do have Pages 09 on your computer, it may be that for some reason an existing Pages 08 application is invoked accidentally.

Windows 7 Instead of Windows 8

I was looking to buy a computer, although I would like Windows 7 rather than Windows 8. This is because I am more familiar with the program and I just like it more. Anyways I was wondering if I bought a computer could it have Windows 7 when bought, instead of Windows 8. One last thing, if so would this make the computer's price drop. Lastly, if this is now possible am I able to downgrade to Windows 7 instead of 8.

Hello, you can't downgrade once the computer is manufactured. All new computers being shipped to resellers (even on the manufactures website) are shipped with Windows 8 (latest OS from Microsoft)
You can still find a couple with Windows 7 but possibly not the one that you want.
Now you can buy Windows 7 separately on a disk and override Windows 8. The license for Windows 7 went down a lot since the new OS was released. Best Regards!

When a pdf file is opened in a tab, the automatic scroll function from the pad does not work in the other tabs, but only for the particular PDF tab.

Have you checked to see if your PDF add-on is up to date? You should take a look at the [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]] Knowledge Base article. There is a lot of good information in there. You should try both of the suggested PDF add-ons to see if that fixes the issue.

Yep, exactly the same problem only on W2K SP4. Firefox5 doesn't work but IE (on the same machine) does.
Sorry, I'm not sure what version version of IE is being used.
(It's the PC at work that has the problem and I'm writing this at home on my linux box which has Firefox version 3.6.18 for linux mint - which also works fine.)
I really hope this can be fixed soon.

You did not mention why you want to change. Is there a specific problem that we can help with? If the computer came with Windows 8, you would need to purchase a copy of Windows 7 if you can find one available.

Programs that allow you to open and crop PDF

I am working on a project with two other people that uses PDF's that need cropping and saving as both PDF's and JPG. I know that both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements can do these tasks, the only problem is that I am working with others who do not have these programs installed on their laptops and neither they nor I have a budget to be able to purchase either of these programs. Can any one recommend alternative software (preferably Free or Open Source) that will allow us to get the job done quickly and easily.

Can BI 4.0 be installed on Windows enterprise instead of Windows server?

Can I install BI 4.0 FP3 on my laptop which runs Windows 7 enterprise instead of on a windows server? The prerequisite check gives only "yellow warning" fo rthe windows server version and shows as "optional". Does that mean it is OK to install on a non-server version windows?

Not recommended. Installing the BI Platform 4.0 Server product on your laptop would likely completely tank your laptop to the point where it is unusable. The BI Platform 4.0 product is a massive install and we recommend installing it on a server because you need a very powerful system for it to run correctly. Installing on a laptop would give you a very poor impression of the product.

Click on the Firefox button on top left of the Firefox main window, then click on the options, and you can change new session options from there. Firefox - Options - General - Startup

You could try the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10909/ IE Tab Plus] or the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/92382/ IE Tab 2] add-on. These add-ons do not emulate IE, but allow you to open IE inside a Firefox tab for sites that do not work in Firefox.
The main difference between the 2 versions of IE Tab is that IE Tab Plus supports the Adblock Plus add-on whilst in IE mode.
