According the this: http://www.apple.com/mobileme/transition.html, "After moving to iCloud, family member accounts are no longer linked to the master account." You can share an iCloud calendar (see http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2690), but I don't think you will be able to share iCloud contacts unless you are signed into the same iCloud account on both phones.

Try this:
On all impacted devices, go to settings, messages, send & receive and place a checkmark next to only those phone numbers and email addresses listed you want that device to recognize.

We have 2 iphones 4 and one ipod touch and they all use the same apple address for purchases. How do we stop getting each others texts?

We are recieveing each others texts, it has only happened since we upgrated to iOS6. We only get each others iMessages.

You have two issues: 1. iPad is designed for single person use, not multiple users like a computer is, 2. Everyone trying to use this "single person" device uses the same Apple ID. As far as iMessage is concerned, this is the same person...how would it know differently?
There is no solution to fix this. Even if everyone got their own Apple ID's, you're still trying to use a device, designed to be used by a single user, with multiple users. It simple is not gonna work, and if you manage to get it to work, it won't work very well.

This is caused by multiple people sharing the same iCloud account.. When you do this any data you sync with the shared iCloud account such as contacts is merged and will appear on all devices sharing the account. To fix this you both need to have separate iCloud accounts (you can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and app stores).
Begin by deciding which deivce will be keeping the current iCloud account. On the one that will be changing accounts, if there are any photos in photo stream that are not in the camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this device, not from iCloud. The device that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.) When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On [iDevice]. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom). Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting the other person's contacts from your account, and vice versa).
You should also avoid using the same Apple ID for iMessage and FaceTime (or you're likely to get each other's text messages and FaceTime calls). If you're currently sharing an ID for these services, on one of the devices go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a separate ID (such as your separate iCloud ID). For FaceTime, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.

I sync my iPhone to my iMac via the dock/usb cable. I have a question specifically regarding the syncing of Podcasts.
I manange my Podcast inventory in iTunes on my iMac. Once I get everyting the way I want it, I sync my iPhone to my iMac.
The problem I'm having is that the Podcasts inventory on my iMac is not transfering acurately to my iPhone. i.e., additions on my iMac aren't being aded to my iPhone and deletions aren't deleted.
Basically, I want the iMac to be the 'boss' and I want the podcasts on my iPhone to match those on my iMac after syncing. How do I do that?

Agree but annoyed that the IPhone syncs just about everything automatically except photo in camera roll. I just use windows explorer to copy and paste the photo files to my PC subdirectory. IPhone does sync photos from a chosen pc subdirectory to your Iphone. Strange they go only one way when "syncing" to me means maintaining both devices with the same files. Oh well, maybe the next OS will do it.

I get the message "..this will erase your iphone..." What is earsed? I want to think only the itunes related things (apps, music, videos, etc.)

To prevent a sync when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - hold down the 'option' and the 'command' keys when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - key the keys down until the iPod/iPhone is listed under the Devices list in iTunes - this will prevent a sync from taking place and you will be able to change your settings.

When syncing iphone, turned itunes match off, itunes doesn't recognise iphone :S

Fed up of the glithcy iTunes match on iphone, so turned it off and so I could sync music from itunes, but after i turn itunes match off, itunes no longers recognises my iphone and says it is a new device and needs restoring? Turn itunes match back on and it fine with itunes? Guess it's another bug with itunes match! Hope they sort it out soon!

Does the device is recognized in a different user account or on a different computer?
You could try to follow iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for OS X or reset the sync services OS X: Resetting Sync Services.

Error message when syncing iPhone to iTunes

I've tried three times now to sync my iPhone with iTunes. The software is the most updated version, but each time I get an error message: "The iPhone cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-50)." Too vague for me to figure anything out. Is this a problem on my end or is iTunes experiencing a temporary glich?

I'm having the same problem, except I used to have 12 GB of music on my iPhone that is now gone, and the same disc space now says "Other", but there is no music on the iPod. I've tried the 5 R's, is it a glitch? I didn't have this problem until I updated yesterday. Everytime I sync, it tells me there is not enough space to download the music. What is the "Other" category? I can't find any info on it at all. Also, I am NOT a computer guru, I'm a nurse, so be gentle!

The camera roll is contained in an iTunes backup but you cannot view the pictures in the backup without special third party software on your computer.
If you wish you can load the camera roll photos to your computer by connecting it to your computer and have the iPad recognized as a camera.

How do you avoid screwing with other vendors' Plug-In requirements?

I can control which plug-in my applet uses pretty easily by using the correct info within the HTML page that calls it.
What if another vendor, though, is not requesting a specific plug-in version in their html ... but uses the browser default instead?
When I upgrade my applet to another plug-in version and update my HTML to reference the new version, won't that change the browser's default at download/install time?
Is there a way that I can say:
1. Use this particular plug-in version.
2. If not found, install it -- but don't mark to set the new plug-in as any browser default?
3. If the install can be done silently, is their a silent method that works for Windows and Mac and for IE, Netscape, and Safari?
In other words for the same customer, if Vendor A needs plug-in 1.2, Vendor B needs plug-in 1.3, and I need plug-in 1.4, how can these all live happily together?
Is the only way to do this to make sure all vendors are using the same plug-in strategy?

The method described there by default does not register the plugin to be the browser's default. I haven't actually tried silent install myself, though, and don't know on which systems it'll work.
Regarding other vendor's plugins: I'm afraid there's no guarantee you don't mess up anything. I guess that if everyone is using static plugin versions in their html then they can live next to each other without interfering, the problem comes into play if someone uses dynamic version control. That is what actually happened to me, having deployed an applet requiring jpi 1.3.1 or higher, and later had to find out that it didn't work for clients once they'd installed 1.4 on top of it :-(
In principle I would prefer dynamic version support since it minimizes the number of plugins clients have to install, but due to the ever changing plugin features (grrr...) static version support is probably the recommended way to go (if your customer finds that acceptable).
The lesson I had learned from that is that in the end each vendor and each customer is responsible to have a robust plugin/html deployment, and the client is responsible not to mess up his system (by e.g. having one plugin to be the browser's default) -- all you can do is offer your advice to both parties.

As given, removing from the library causes the songs to be removed during sync. So the space taken up is neccessary... What would you do if your iPhone where lost, stolen, damaged or needed to be restored?
If you ned more room for storage buy a bigger drive. In fact buy two, one to use as a backup for your library and all your other important files.

When syncing iPhone with iTunes, my external hdd disconnects

Hi! After I updated iTunes to the last version (9.1.1) appears one problem — when i connect my iPhone 3G 16Gb and iTunes is launched, it starts to sync as it is intended — and my external usb hdd disconnects. And it is required to restart the whole system with disconnected iphone to connect hdd as usual.
The itunes music library is on this hdd. I have mac-mini 1.83 core 2 duo with 4Gb ram and latest update of 10.5 Leopard.
I also recently installed fruux for syncing this mac-mini with my macbook, and may be it is the reason, but I uninstalled it fully (as writen on fruux website), but the problem is still as is.
Please, help — this problem makes my iphone fully isolated from my iTunes library :(((

Make sure the following setting is unchecked:
Lightroom / Preferences / Import:
[ ] Show import dialog when a memory card is detected
Report back if it is already unchecked and LR still starts up.
