When syncing my ipod, how do I get it to look at external drives for music stored them? It just tells me it can't find something and gives me no option to tell it where it is located.

Hi SouthMountainSound,
It sounds like the tracks may be missing from your iTunes library. When tracks in iTunes display a it means the file cannot be located; it may have been moved or deleted. If it cannot be located, this may cause the issue of not being copied to your iPod. For this issue, we will need to refer to the following article:
iTunes: Finding lost media and downloads
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1408
Alternatively, if your media was downloaded from the iTunes Store, you may be able to download it again free of charge:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

Thanks,
Matt M.

How do I get my Mac to recognize external drive filled with 5 projects, created at Apple Store? I created 6 hrs worth of projects on computer in apple store with my external. came home my computer did not recognize it at all. went back to apple, they said oh click the news reel bottom left that will do it, came back home and nope....not recognizing it, in fact it says no events exist on this disc. I want to get the 5 projects and put up on vimeo tonight. ugh.
Hi Tom,
I'm so impressed with how you help everyone solve their problems. I will do my best here, but my husband will be home soon and knows how this large external is formatted.
How late do you all work there? I'm on east coast. Is the screen shot you wanted? I opened up external and
this is what I see.

I just bought the creative cloud. For 20 euros per month, and when I downloaded Illustrator it tells me that the trial has expired and gives me the option to buy. Why?
Hi Florencia33,
Please check if you are signed into the Creative cloud with the correct email ID under which you have subscribed.
Please refer to the steps as mentioned in the help document:

lost my iphone and can't find photos and videos from camera roll on my computer. where are they?
thanksWhere did you put them?
These are not part of the sync process at all, as the manual tells you. You should be importing them to your comptuer regularly as you would with any digital camera. -
What if I don't sync my iPod, how do I get updates
What if I don't sync my iPod, what about updates?
I'm not sure because back when I used to sync my iPod the windows unit kept saying not enough memory to sync but I could still check for available updates. Well, that computer might have tried to sync data anyway and fried itself. No replacement yet, sorry.

I was using my iTunes Library and it is now gone. I have my songs stored on an external drive. I checked the connections and they seem OK. I can't get the iTunes screen to show the sync button nor find my library. Does anyone have a suggestion?
Was the media solely on the external library? If so, it is likely that iTunes was started at some point with the external drive unaccessible. Simply point iTunes to the correct library location. To do this, close iTunes. Hold <SHIFT> and launch iTunes. When prompted to find library or create a new one, select the find option and point iTunes to where the iTuneslibrary.itl file is at on your computer (or external drive).

Right-click the track in the library, and choose Show in Windows Explorer.
If you were hoping to get the file path displayed in a column, as is possible in Windows Media Player, note that iTunes does not have that ability. -
Do lyrics sync onto iPod - how do you get them
I I know you can display lyrics in itunes- under the lyrics tab. My question is can you those lyrics be displayed on the ipod classic? I've synced...but I dont see where the lyrics would appear on the ipod. I've read that it is possible but Im wondering if there's some sort of setting Ive got to change in order to see the lyrics on my ipod...or maybe I just dont know where to look. I see playlists, artists, albums, genre but I dont see a lyrics option. Ive also checked under settings
ok i found the answer to my own question - you have to keep hitting the center button and they eventually pop up

My last computer crashed and it had all my songs and i got a new ipod how do i get those songs back
ok so my last computer crashed and it had all my songs and that day i got a new ipod how do i get those songs back thast i paid for?
If the songs are not on an iPod or a computer (didn't you have a backup of your computer files?) you are probably out of luck since you only get one download of music from the iTunes store and it is up to you to back them up. However, the Itunes store may allow a redownload if you explain what happened. Go to the following and select the appropriate topic to contact them.

If you do happen to run into a bad file, try converting it to a different format and resyncing the new version over to your iPod.

First try this:
- Go on iTunes computer
- plug in the iPod
- authorize your device from store/authorize
- iPod / transfer from iPod by right clicking on the left pane
This will only transfer iTunes purchased music, not ripped CDs. and it is unnecessary now, as the music can just be downloaded from the cloud. -
Since I downloaded iTunes 11, I get a message when syncing my iPod that some of my songs were not copied because they are not authorized on this computer, I go to Store> Authorize This Computer, a message pops up telling me that this computer is already.
So I am unclear, did you purchase these songs or import them from a cd?
If you imported them and still have the CD try importing them again and see if they work the delete the others.
Or if you purchased from itunes re-dowwnload and see if they work. Maybe they are corrupted files and this should resove it. -

I cannot sync my iPod. I keep getting the following messagei: AppleSyncNotifier.exe. entry point not fond. The procedure entry point sqlite3_wal_checkpoint could not be located in the dynamic link library SQLite3.dll Help!
With Windows Explorer, navigate to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support folder.
Copy the SQLite3.dll that you should find there, navigate to the nearby Mobile Device Support folder, and Paste it in there also.
Restart the programme all should be well
In case that your OS is (64 bit)
1. Open windows explorer, go to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
2. Copy file "SQLite3.dll"
3. Now paste it in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
4. Restart the programme, it should not display that message, it should be clear.
Good Luck
