On the email account's settings (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and tapping on the account on the right), go into it's outgoing SMTP settings and try putting in your email name and password (they might currently show as 'optional')

There is something else that can cause this issue. Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.

Head to Settings -> Mail, Contacts, and Calendars and tap on the account having the issues sending email. On the proceeding view, click Account button that lists the email address at the very top of the screen.
Then scroll down to Outgoing Mail Server and make sure the correct outgoing mail server is set as the Primary mail server for the account. Lastly, make sure all other smtp servers listed are turned Off.

Try this.
Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.

From which account does the email not send? When sending from an account, the iPad will first try to use the aoutgoing server for that account. If it can't it will try the other accounts listed.in the setting on the iPad for that account. It soulds like the server for the account is not working and that the alternate server is resjecting the messag since it did not originate ffrom the account associated with that server, That is to prevent sending spam.

Sounds like there is something wrong with your SMTP server. Try going into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>select the email account in question, go to the Outgoing server (SMTP) and check the settings. It may be you do not have a username and password in one of the areas. The phone may say optional in a couple, but it is usually mandatory. You can also try a reset on the device, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. If neither of these work, then you will need to delete the account, then delete the SMTP server, then add the account back, ensuring you use your username and password everywhere, even when it says optional.
