When trying to update to 3.6 I get the message operation can't be completed - do not have sufficient privilages for some of the items.
I already sent this question but have had no answer yet so I thought I would ask again.

* Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re)install.
* Install the new version that you have downloaded.

The version you are currently using, Firefox 3.6.13, is the latest version of Firefox for OS X 10.4
If you are trying to use the Firefox 4 betas, they require at least OS X 10.5. There is a third-party version of Firefox 4 beta that works on OS X 10.4, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/ -
In trying to update to Firefox 3.6.11 on an intel mac g5, I get this message: the operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items -- any suggestions? thanks!
You can try to repair the permissions for the Firefox application files and folders.
You can also do this:
* Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
* Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re)install.
* Install the new version that you have downloaded.

I have recently dropped Earthink as me dial-up provider. I now am using Virgin Mobile Broadband2GO. I was using Safari. I am now using Yahoo! Mail Plus. It suggested I switch to Firefox. I had an older version of Firefox (2.0.0.6) and started using it. It suggested I needed to upgrade because many of the newer web sites wouldn't work well on this older version. I downloaded the newer version and proceeded with the installation and it would tell me this: '''The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items.''' I have re-downloaded and tried it again two more times. I haven't a clue what that means or what to do about it.
If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

The previous version of Firefox is still on and operational. I get this message when I try to drag the Firefox icon to the application file icon. Since this is my computer, and I am the administrator, I don't know what privileges I lack, or on which items. If there is a way to correct this I would like to do so and activate the new version. It looks like the new version is 7.0.1 for Mac OS. This happens everytime I try to load the new version by dragging the icon.

Everything seems to go as planned according to the steps on the screen except for the last one dragging the icon over the file folder.
Download the new version you want with other browsers like IE (Windows), Safari (Mac) and remove the last version. Then install the package you downloaded.
Here you can download version 6.0: [http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html Download]
Also for older versions: [ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/ Here]. -
My iPad works perfectly except when trying to update apps. Then I get a message that says "Cannot connect to the iTunes store."
Try logging out of your account on the iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if it then works.
If that doesn't solve it then what has worked for some people is going into Settings > General > Date & Time and change the date to a few months in the future and then re-trying -
I have version 6.0. I downloaded the latest version. When I move the icon to the applications folder I get a message asking if I wish to replace the older version. When I say yes, I get a message saying I don't have "sufficient privileges for some of the items."
It is better to download a new copy of the Firefox program from:
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean reinstall.
Install the new version that you have downloaded.

A PDF file was filed in DOCUMENTS, when trying to move this PDF file to trash I got the response: "Operation can't be completed because the item ..... is in use".
How do I get this document deleted from the system? The suggestion to move items from documetns to desktop and then moving to trash is the one that worked.
I have now one other question and that is that during my strugle with the original problem I called with Apple helpline and there they suggested to move the application "Preview" to trash and then the issue would be solved. I did so but clearly the issue was not solved.
Bottom line is that with your solution I got rid of the PDF files, but I still need to reinstall the Preview application. Do you have suggestions how to do that?? -
I'm working on a Mac laptop. Currently Firefox is on version 3.6. I've never been able to update the browser. Any suggestions? Thank you
