When WEP turns to an Orange mess.

Hi all. Another one I've never seen before.
Customer has broadband by Orange. (for our American cousins, this was formerly FreeServe, which was then sold to France Telecom and rebranded Wanadoo and has now been rerebranded as Orange)
They supply the customer with and unusual router called LineOne-0888. It has both wireless and ethernet and is preconfigured with a 128 bit WEP Access code.
Getting the mac to connect via wireless was a bit hit and miss (as there is a strange "pairing" procedure to be carried out) but we got there in the end.
Now the customer is enjoying the benfits of the added speed and stuff he has decided that he wants to upgrade to Tiger so that he can use widgets & GoogleEarth and the like.
Now the fun happens. After the upgrade, the mac will no-longer reconnect to the wireless automatically. If I select the name of the router in the airport menu, I get asked to enter the WPA password and there is no other option!
Now, if I select "Other" instead of the SSID I can see in the airport menu, I get offered the option to enter any code-type I like after I select the name of the router (the same name!) But, and this is the big but. because we are in the "Other" section of the Airport menu, there is no way to tell the mac to rememebr the password - and so it doesn't. If I turn the mac off and then turn it back on I have to go through the same rigmarole of entering a 20 odd digit hex code.
I've trashed the Airport Prefs but it's made no difference.
If the mac goes to sleep there's no problem. It wakes up and connects. but if it's off then...
Has anyone seen anything like this before? If so, what did you do about it?
PS. One thing I didn't do was rebuilt Permissions after the installation was complete.

Try the following, in order...
Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
- Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
- Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
- Restart, or log out then back in.
Run the Disk Utility to repair Disk Permissions.
Turn off the Mac OS X Firewall
- System Preferences > Sharing > Firewall
- Click the "Stop" button.
Move System Configuration Files
(Note: You will have to reestablish your network connections settings.)
- Go to /Library/Preferences
- Move the SystemConfiguration folder and com.apple.networkConfig.plist file to the desktop.
- Restart your Mac. (Note: OS X will rebuild the files that are now sitting on your desktop. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can move the folder & .plist file back to it's original location.)
Create a New User Account
- Create a new user account.
-- System Preferences > Accounts
-- Click "+" to add a new account
- Log off, then log back on with the new user account.
- Try connecting with the AirPort.

Cannot boot my MacBook Pro. Tryed CMD+R, reinstall OS, error message :damaged HD. When trying to repait it says it's OK. Yesterday HD wasn't even half full when I turned it off, now it says it's full.

What may have happened is an error and a kernel panic, filling up the logfiles.
What I recommend is first to find a way to backup your data without booting the hard drive directly if it isn't already backed up, and then get Alsoft Disk Warrior to repair the hard drive.    You'll probably want an external drive from http://www.macsales.com/
And you'll want to go into Hard drive -> Library -> Logs, System -> Library -> Logs, and Users -> yourname -> Library -> Logs to remove whatever you find there.
If after booting it fills up again, start by removing all startup items in your System Preferences for your user, and rebooting in safe mode with the shift key held down. If the hard drive is over 85% full after removing the logfiles, you may want to look at what were the last applications you installed.
Peer2peer software if installed can be as bad as a virus, because it enables others to access your computer. Insecure wireless networks are just as bad, if they are WEP or no encryption and someone is within 1500 feet of your computer.
If no such software is installed, your RAM probably has failed.    Run the hardware test that came with your computer, by booting with the 'D' key.
If nothing shows up there, it can still be the RAM.   Especially if you've seen any 4 language screens telling you to restart.

And...Yes, i did : i inserted the install disc and started up holding the C key. Many time. But each time, the logo of install disc appeared during ten minutes and then, during the installation, he disappeared suddenly with no reason. And in the same time the computer turn off.
The beginning of the storry : my son made long time ago (a year) the partition between Mac and Windows. Everything was fine.
Recently, He decided to give more memory space to windows.
He could do that directly (perhaps, was there a way but he did'nt know it)
For this reason, he decided to desinstall Windows in a first step before reinstalling it.
But before doing this, he decided to re install all the system, like for cleaning his computer...and then, since, it's a big mess.
You know everythin now.

How to transfer an account when user turns 18?

We have an exchange student staying with us who is 17 and cannot get a contract in her name. If we get the contract in our name, how does it work to transfer the contract to her name when she turns 18? She is looking at the Single Line Plan with the two year contract. She will turn 18 on 5/31/15. She is planning on going to college in the US after graduating high school.

When I turn on my iPad 2 and go onto the safari and go onto google the wireless router cuts off and turns the Internet off and the Internet doesn't respond and then after I have to turn the router off and turn it on and then it is back to normal it has happening when I recently updated the new iOS 6 on my iPad since then it was been doing this please can you help and help me sort the problem out

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
First of all, check that Messages is closed when you turn off your MacBook. This is so important because, by default, OS X will reopen all opened apps the next time you start your Mac.
Apart from that, when you go to  > Shut Down, or  > Restart, in the window you see to restart or turn off your MacBook, unmark "Reopen windows when logging back in". This will avoid that your Mac opens all opened apps the next time you start the MacBook, so Messages won't start automatically at startup

Your iPod touch will never appear in Windows Explorer, by the way. It doesn't have the "disk mode" that the older iPods did.

Hold down the Option key while you boot your Mac. Then, it should show you a selection of devices. Click your flash drive and it will boot from that.

No, your Yahoo account is not in iCloud (which only handles iCloud mail), it is in Yahoo, and the Yahoo mail account is on your iPad.

Get the correct settings for your account from Yahoo and set it up manually.

I can't open almost any app on my iMac (OSX Lion 10.7.4). Every time I attempt to do so, the app "unexpedtely quits" and can't go further. This happens with iTunes (when I turn to the iTunes Store), MacApp Store, Software updates an many other apps...

I can't open almost any app on my iMac (OSX Lion 10.7.4). Every time I attempt to do so, the affected app "unexpedtely quits", showing a window (sort of expanded dialog box) with the log history, wich form a complete report wich is said to be sent to Apple. Despite that this window has a "restart" button, I haven't been able to go any further from this point, as it repeats the process again and again, impeding me to use the affected app.
This has get to a critical point, as it is afecting apps like iTunes (especifically when I turn to the iTunes Store from within te app), MacApp Store, Software Updates (I can't update anything, given this problem) and many other apps, including Aperture 3, Fusion 4, integrated Dictionary and Wikipedia, as I've been able to verify.
As far as I'm concerned, it hasn't affected apps like Office, Vectorworks, Pixelmator, iDraw, Quick Note...
Can anybody help me on this matter?

Use Lion Recovery to repair the startup disk if necessary, or reinstall the Mac OS X.

When i turn it on it takes a long time to start up and it freezes in some of the apps so I had to turn it off

Recently when I turn on my mac it takes a long time to start up and at first and in the beginning it appears with a grey screen and at the end it turns blue.
Also it freezes in some of the Apps, so it make me to turn of.
Please be kind enough to guide me to solve these problems.

What SP are you on? We had a similar issue w/SP6 but it was resoloved with SP7.

After IOS 8 upgrade, when I turn my phone on, it asks for a password and none of my passwords seem to work. I have already managed to update my password.

I upgraded to IOS 8 and now when I turn on the phone, it is asking for a password and I have used every password I have used previously but the phone is not accepting the last one I upgraded to. I did a reset of my password but now have to wait 20 more minutes before I can try to get into my phone. I have no idea as to what to do. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Could it be your email password, or your exchange pass code ? If that does not work you may need to restore the iPad. Good luck.

Windows XP, SP3 operating system recently re-installed so I also reinstalled my printer software. Now, for some reason, each time I turn my computer on, my HP Photosmart C4100 all-in-one photosmart premier software opens. It is not in my startup. This slows down my computer terribly, which is why I never used the program before my re-install. How can I disable this feature? I only print, I don't use it for photos.
Any help here is appreciated.

Run msconfig.exe from the start button (type in msconfig). When it comes up go to the Startup tab and find and deselect the HP product you do not want to start. Save and reboot computer. Now try.
