When you are backing up your iPhone or iPad to the Mac, what folder does it go to.

What folder does a backup from your Iphone or ipad use.

~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Note: The "~" is your Home folder. Hold the Option key on Go, then select Library.

That means your phone was hacked to unlock it.
ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it.
It may no longer be possible to process a legitimate unlock on a phone that was hacked/jailbroken. The hack can do permanent damage.
You can find out who it was locked to and find out if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
Don't be surprised if you are never able to use it again. It may be permanently bricked.

    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Trash. Relaunch the application and test.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • How can you get back into your iPhone if you don't remember the passoword?, How can you get back into your iPhone if you don't remember the password?

Help!   My daughter changed the password on her iPhone and she can't remember it.  How can she get back into it.  Restoring is not an option so I'm hopeful there is another way.   Thanks!

    Hey KimmyP123,
Thanks for the question. I understand your daughter has an unknown passcode on her iPhone. The following article provides a few solutions for this situation:
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
I notice you are looking for solutions other than restoring, the article does outline how you can use iCloud's Find My iPhone:
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • How to get a POP account to mark emails on your mac as viewed when you view them on your iPhone

I have a private pop account and it is a hassle for me to constantly view the same email on my mac that i just viewed on my iphone to remove the "unviewed dot." If i view them on my mac it removes the dot from my iphone, ipad and itouch but not vise versa.  Please help

You can't do what you want to do - it is a limitation of POP servers which were built for a different era. The old model of email was that we downloaded the mail from our server to our computer and our computer either deleted the mail from the server or left it there. The email software on our computer provides the intelligence - it knows what messages on the POP server are new and need to be downloaded and which have already been downloaded but permitted to remain on the server.
This system works perfectly when we are using only one computer to read our mail. Add another computer to the mix and the flaw appears - that second computer doesn't know what's new and what's already been downloaded and read.
You can configure your iOS devices to automatically delete email that's been read (Settings>Mail, Contacts,Calendars then select your account and choose the Advanced button) but if you do this you'll have to forward yourself any email you get on your device that you'd want to see later on your computer.

  • What is the point of icloud backup, when you have to plug your iphone into itunes to restore it anyway?

ok im confused now.. What is the point of backing up and restoring your iphone with icloud, when to restore your iphone you have to plug it into itunes anyway? you might as well just restore it from there then shouldnt you?

when to restore your iphone you have to plug it into itunes anyway?
But you don't. You can restore your phone data direct from iCloud wirelessly without a computer.

  • Back up your iCal files before applying the Mac OS X 10.4.4 Update

It seems as though this sort of thing should not happen, but the mere application of the Mac OS X 10.4.4 Update - in small but noticeable ways - damaged my existing calendars, rendered a subscribed calendar effectively unsubscribed, and the Birthdays calendar present but empty. Neither of these calendars were actually removed: they just appeared devoid of data.
Because I had previously backed up the calendars using the Back up Database… option in iCal before applying the update, I simply restored them to fix the issues in the standard calendars.
To fix the subscription problem, I had to unsubscribe, then re-subscribe to that calendar.
To fix the Birthdays calendar issue, I simply had to launch the Address Book, remove a birthday in one record, exit the edit mode, then paste it back in. Instantaneously, the Birthdays calendar was populated with data once again.
Does anyone actually test these updates before they are released? [Facetious question, I know - but one does have to wonder…]
PowerBook G4 12 867 MHz 640 meg 40 gig SuperDrive   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   What problem? I use the The Missing Sync for Palm OS

    You have limited options:
    1. If there is an Apple retailer nearby you can have them copy the update to a CD for you - usually at no or nominal charge.
    2. You can go to a local Mac user group (if there is one in your area) where they would be happy to provide a copy of the update for you on a CD at no or nominal charge.
    3. You can find another Mac user who has a high-speed connection and can download the update for you.
    4. You can call AppleCare and order a copy of the update on CD for a charge of (I think) around $9.95.
    5. You could find a Mac owner somewhere who would copy the update to a CD and mail it to you at any negotiated cost. However, do not solicit this assistance on these forums. Of course anyone reading this post could offer their help.

  • I recently purchased the film Inside man of my ipad my mac is set up to back up everything from my ipad to the mac. i had to reboot my ipad due to technical issues but couldnt download it again nor find it how do i get it back without rebuying it?

before rebooting the ipad itunes asked if i wanted to back it all up which i clicked yes to so why didnt it back up my films?

Backing up saves your data to the backup. You need to transfer your purchases before you sync or backup if you want to preserve the new content that you have acquired directly to the iPad. You will find that command in the iTunes File menu on your computer or by right clicking the name of your iPad in the devices list in iTunes on your computer.

  • HT1766 What do you do when you try to update your iPhone and it restores it. I did back it up multiple times b4 I tried to do this....help

ps new macbook owner who has NOT updated my phone and this is the very reason why because I was to scared to lose all of my information...sooo angry right now.

Where are the contacts synced to, a supported application on the computer or a cloud service?  If for some reason you've failed to use the device as designed and relied solely on the iPhone backup for maintaining your contacts, restore from the most recent backup.

  • Learning the hard way you should back up your iphone!

    Hey everyone,
I dropped my iphone 5 in the bathtub, needless to say it no longer works. I can switch it on and off but the screen stays blank. My computer does not register when i try to plug it in. If I take it into an apple store is there any way they will be able to get my photos off the phone for me despite it not working?
    Thanks a lot.

    likely no
try putting it in an open bowl of rice on the radiator or heated bathroom floor for 48hours to see if being died out will make it work a bit more you may get lucky
I saved both iphone and ipod touch that way

  • Do I have to put in a credit card number when you are setting up your apple ID

Apple ID why I need credit card

    You can:
Create a NEW account/ID  using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. Make sure you specify a birthdate that results in being at least 13 years old

Trying to decide if I should restore from iTunes or iCloud...any way to find out which back up was more recent?

Go to Setting>iCloud>Storage & Backup.  The date/time of the most recent backup is listed at the bottom under Back Up Now.
