Whenever I try to load any sizable MP4 file into Animate using the add video option, it causes animate to crash. Anyone else have this experience. Is there a cure? This is on a retina IMac.

I just got a new itouch and cannot load any music or media onto it using the newest version of itunes. Every time I try the loading bar at the top says "finding purchased items" and then everything locks down and I have to force quite out of itunes. How do I make this stop???

You will need to find a forum for MS Word since that is the software that you are trying to manipulate in this. If you think the processing/creation of the PDF plays a role then you should ask in the forum for the software that you are using to create the PDF.

What codec to convert .MXF and MP4 files into to use with alpha channels in Ae and Pr CS6?
When I import .mxf File, shot on a Canon C300, into after effects, the alpha channel options are greyed out, when I look in, interpret footage, main. This also is the case importing .MP4 files, shot on a Gopro hero 3. I used to use final cut and using compressor convert the files to pro res 4444 or 422. What's my new workflow for preparing files with alpha channels to use in After Effect and Premiere and do I use Media Encoder to do it?

Better question: Where do you expect that Alpha channel to come from and contain any useful info for transparency? You're making a fuss over a non-issue. Unless you apply keying or other methods of creating transparency, even if there were an Alpha channel it would be fully opaque and then what's the point?

I have created a second user on my iMac (OSX 10.7.1) and applications won't stay in the dock and my preferences default after restart. Everything works fine with the main user. Anyone else have this problem?

I found this advice in another thread (here), which you might find helpful...
Unregistering the iMac from .Mac syncing and re-registering it (replacing the computer's information with the .Mac information) resolved the issue.
The .Mac sync information was Reset (i.e. recopied in it's entirety) from the MacBook (the 'good' computer) to .Mac prior to unregistering and re-registering the iMac, so a fresh copy of the sync could be loaded from .Mac to the iMac.
I hope this helps the others who have had this problem.

I used Make MKV and Handbrake to rip 2 purchased DVDs to mp4. Both will play on my AppleTV 3 and in QuickTime. But in iTunes I can only can see a still-frame, and use the slider to fast-forward and rewind them. They won't play.
If iTunes incorporates QuickTime into playback, I don't understand, as I can play them in QuickTime. I really didn't understand after I watched one of them on my AppleTV 3.
Anyone else having this problem?What's your output settings in Handbrake?
MP4 is a container format that can be encoded with H.264, MPEG-4, Xvid, Divx, etc. iTunes support common MP4 files but not work with all the codecs.
Try some other settings and rerip it. H.264 is mostly recommended. -

I'm fairly certain this isn't a carpal tunnel issue, and I've never had the problem in the past with my iPhone... I can't imagine switching to a laptop other than a mac but this is nearly unbearable!

Trying to load pre-2006 lso files into Logic 8 on my new intel Mac Pro
I'm trying to load pre-2006 lso files into Logic 8 on my new intel Mac Pro, but they crash the app every time. files saved 2006 and later load OK. Anybody shed any light on this or know of a fix (other than the laborious work-around of re-saving all early lso's in logic 8 on the PPC and physically moving them via a portable drive to the new machine)?
(BTW, those files also crash the Logic 7 installed on the intel Mac.)Upon further work with my migration, I find I was incorrect in the time frame assertion of these failed files: apparently, the creation/modification dates have nothing to do with it and the reality is that some files fail at random, while others load just fine. right now it looks to be about 50/50 Beats me why this is.
Anyway, for those interested, I've discovered a very helpful key to the quick processing of file data for a plethora of files (i. e. re-saving the "bad" lso files as Logic 8 projects on the older CPU and moving them over to my new machine), and that is the 'control key/launch' of the app. I hadn't realized that Apple had added this feature to Logic to enable easier work on multiple song files when one does not require the audio.
For those who don't know about it, the 'control key/launch' provides an option to disable the core audio at app start-up, thus allowing files to load instantly without loading the plug-in library files associated with tracks - great for copying MIDI data between song files, or in this case, re-saving a batch.
Still puzzled, though, as to why so many older lso files crash Logic when they attempt to load on my new CPU. -
I have Safari 7.0.6 and OS 10.9.4. I cannot install any extensions. Everytime I select install I get an error message, "Cannot instal extension" Does anyone else have this problem?

This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:

Firefox will stop responding whenever I try to visit any webpage, is there a way I could fix this?

In this mode, there’s no graphical interface; just a command line. Initially, you can’t make any changes to files.
When the text stops scrolling, and you see a line ending in a pound sign (“#”), type the following command:
mount -uw /
You must type the command exactly as given, with no mistakes. If you don’t feel able to do that, STOP. At this stage, no harm will be done if you make a mistake, but later, it will be. Press the return key.
Next, type the following command:
rm -i /var/audit/current
Press return. You should get the following output:
remove /var/audit/current?
If that's not what you get, STOP. Type the single letter N, press return, and try again. Otherwise, type the single letter Y and pressreturn.
Finally, enter the command:
exit
Press return. The text will start scrolling again, and then the system will reboot. Try again to log in.
