Wher to get Mac OS X 10.5/leopard DVD and matching Ilife
I have a power mac G4, 1,5GHz with Mac OS X 10.4.11 and want to upgrade to 10.5 Leopard and new version of Ilife. Is it still possible to get hold og this?

If you can't obtain a retail install DVD from Apple, look on eBay or Google the installer part numbers to possibly find at an on-line store. Here's what to look for:

Ok so here is a quick a dirty break down.
Computer has been acting Programs freezing and CPU slowing down.
I ran Verify Disk in Disk Utilities and it said I need to repair Disk.
After a day of head aches I am finally asking for help.
So here is the problem on my old powerbook pro I could just load in Target Mode and repair with tech tool or disk warrior but alas my macbook has no firewire.
So just incase of emergancy's I have a thumbdrive with a live 10.5.3 and all my disk utilities. I've used it on my wifes older Intel Macbook Pro 17" and it works fine.
Today though when i restart hold down the option key "alt" and select the drive my macbook restarts acts like its going to load and the restarts again. This restart loop will go on as long as I let it.
Ok so usb drives can be problematic. Surely starting to the OS X Retail DVD with 10.5.4 and running disk utilities will work. Nope still get the endless restart loop when I've loaded the install dvd and restart with command "c" as well I get the same response if I select it after holding the option key.
Now my hard drive won't even start up either unless I boot in single user mode.
I am lost.
HELP Please.Have you tried booting into safeboot (safemode)? You may want to try resetting your PRAM and or SMC. Another thing you might try is to plug the thumbdrive in the other USB port.
If you could get an external USB drive with osx on it you could try booting from it.
Apple sure did screw up not putting firewire on that Macbook, my wife has one and I just can't get over it. Sure can make it hard to troubleshoot. -
My mac 10.8 does no have the file, com.apple.desktop. plist I wentto lIbrary, preference and look for it and it is not where in my mac. I also launch time machine and file is no where on my Mac. How do I get this file back?
thanksSystem files are hidden by default in Finder now, search for what you want then click the little + button on the top right of the bar that appears when you do a search. A new bar comes up and click the first box (that says "Kind"), change it to "System Files". Then change the box that says "aren't included" to "are included" and your file should show up.

When I bought my MacBook Pro it had lion os. I upgraded to mountain lion. I want to install windows 7 using boot camp. It's asking me to insert my Mac OS disk. But I don't have one. How do I get one?
The Current versions of Boot Camp don't ask for the Mac OS disk, they ask you for the Windows Drivers disc (or USB stick). What version of BootCamp Assistant ar eyou running on your Mac OS? It almost sounds like you pulled out an older Snow Leopard DVD to install Boot Camp, and now it wants you to use the Snow Leopard DVD for the Windows support files (as they are in a second session on the install DVD).

I am updating the OS on my MacBook Pro from 10.5.8. I have installed 10.6.8 and the 10.6.8 combo v1.1. I cannot open my older version of Preview and do not appear to have a newer version which i thought would be on the Snow Leopard dvd. How can I get the correct version of Preview and is it advisable to upgrade to OS7 andOS8?
It is always installed with whatever new version of OS X is installed or appropriate updates. Since you plan to go forward your choice depends on your model. I would urge you to perform a clean install instead of continuing the upgrade path which may interject incompatibilities.
Upgrading to Yosemite
You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
Upgrading to Yosemite
To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Yosemite, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.

Before attempting a clean install you want to first download the appropriate installer application from the App Store. It will download into your Applications folder. You need to make a copy of it in your Downloads folder so you can make a bootable USB flash drive:

After downloading the installer you must first save the Install Mac OS X application. After the installer downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing.
2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the leftside list. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list.
Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash drive size.
Use DiskMaker X to put your installer clone onto the USB flash drive.

Hello, I heard that Apple provides downloads for these old OS systems. I did find an old link to a 9.1 disk image but the link is no longer valid. Where would I be able to find this now? Thanks for any help!

All downloads for OS 9.x and OS 8.x from Apple are updates only, which require a specified pre-existing OS version to be already installed before the update can be installed.
If you need OS 9.1, you can get if from sites like Hardcore Mac; unfortunately, their prices are high. Other possible sources would be an Apple User Group (most universities and larger sities have them); or perhaps Ebay or similar.
Note that if your machine needs a model-specific version of OS 9.1, no other version will suffice including a retail version. However, a retail version of OS 9.2.1 should work with such a machine. -

My colleague is an ADC Member (paid a couple hundred dollars for this). He was able to download Mac OS X Server 10.6 (Snow Leopard) for FREE. He tried to search for a link to download Mac OS X Server 10.5 (Leopard Server) but could not find anything.

Mac Pro Boot slow after Leopard Update and Carbon Copy Cloner
I just purchased a 1TB Internal hard drive - Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm - and used Carbon Copy Cloner to clone my original hard drive (which is running Tiger). Everything seems to be normal, except the the long boot up process. The desktop appears, the dock appears, and then there is a long pause of 20 to 30 seconds before the drives mount and and the desktop folders appear. I have 10 gigs of RAM, I have rebuilt the Directory with Disk Warrior 4.1, and also repaired the disk permissions (although some of them state that they can't be repaired). When I reboot from my original 250 Gig hard drive, the boot is lightning fast. Any thoughts? I have many third party software programs installed and am trying to avoid a fresh Leopard Install. Thanks, this is my first post!
this may happen on the first boot on a cloned drive because the system has to rebuild various caches that are not cloned. it should be back to normal boot speed after that.

Hi Friends, I've installed 11.2.0.1.0 basic Instant client on Windows 2008 R2 server. I ran OUI installer as administrator. Sqlplus and ODBC connection to the databases work fine. I would need to install ODAC components on top of it, I know the OD
