Where are my photos after 7.1.4 update?

Ok, so I just did the 7.1.4 update and was prompted to update thumbnails or something similar to that. After doing this I no longer have any events or photos--nothing--completely blank.
I attempted to import to the library again from my pictures folder. this ran for a while until I ran out of hard disk space. So now my situation is that out of my original 5000 or so photos, only about 600 are now visible within iphoto, but after checking on the "iphoto Library" file, it is about 18GB. So somewhere in that file is all my photos, but I can't get to them.
Can anybody tell me how I can view/access all of the photos again?

1. First Priority is to make hard disk space. Mac Os X needs about 10 gigs of HD space to function normally. The OS uses this space for normal operations - virtual memory, temporary file and so on. Without this space the Mac becomes slow, unstable and apps will crash. The risk of data corruption is greatly increased.
I attempted to import to the library again from my pictures folder.
Did you create a new library to do this? Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
If you're running a Managed library, then it's the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing
If you're running a Referenced Library, then you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced and iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing.
Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Where are my photos after upgrade to Itunes 7

I have a video ipod with photos stored on it. I just upgraded to itunes 7 on September 11, 2007, sync'd ipod to computer. All music library and videos are OK but all my photos disappeared from my ipod.
I selected Ipod, photos tab, then Adobe Photo Album (I have version 2.0), selected sync. Still no photos transferred to ipod. Need assistance

OK, tried the reset and it seems to have cleared up some problems; however, the picture problem remains.
Maybe there is something further we could do in settings? My wife uses the iPad as her constant companion and likes to take screen shots (pictures) of recipes and such. She keeps them in albums. Before the update to iOS 7 they all displayed correctly regardless of physical machine orientation. Now, post update, when in landscape mode, which she uses 99.9% of the time, her pics do do fully display. By physically rotating the machine, they will appear correctly. We have noticed that there is a new "function" in edit pics for "aspect ratio."
Should we be using this? If so, she'll have to edit a very large number of pics. So I'm wondering if we're missing some new setting. BTW- this display problem also occurs with pics taken with the camera as well.

  • Where are my photos after the upgrade?

I see the same question over and over but not the solution.  I upgraded my to osx lion a couple of weeks ago.  No problem.  I have used iphoto. Not a problem.  I wanted to grab a photo from the library tonight.  Went into Iphoto, it prompted me to upgrade and requested I upgrade my library.  It will take about an hour.  Clicked on the button and there is nothing there. It didn't take an hour.  Just disappeared.  Poof! I am finding thumbnails of faces in finder but can't find photos although havent looked in every folder.  I am sure it would have taken more time to delete 10,000 photos.
Help.  I need a fix for this.
Sound like some others do.  I tried the option and command open iphoto.  It looks like a brand new version without any picture library.

  • Where are my photos after 10.5- 10.6 upgrade?

I'm hoping you can save my holiday! I've upgraded to Snow Leopard and am having difficult rebuilding my iPhoto library.
I did a clean install of 10.6 with my HD backed up on a Time Capsule. I now have "deleted user" (which assume is my old profile of 10.5) folder but can't find my old photo library.
What is the best way to import my old photo library?
    Thanks in advance.

You don't import an iPhoto Library. You copy it back from your Back Up to the Pictures Folder and then launch iPhoto. That's it.

  • Where are my photos after reinstall

Did a reinstall and a utility new image, found most of my stuff but can't find the old iPhoto or the pictures that used to be in it. Any ideas on where they might be?

I did an Archive and Install. I didn't erase the drive.
Then iPhoto is still where ever it was before. By default that’s your Pictures Folder.
I did a "new image from folder" afterwards and I've been able to get all my e-mail and favorites and addresses etc. but when I look for "picture" or even iPhoto itself in that dmg I can't see anything.
I’m just not sure why you made a disk image afterwards, nor what folder you made an image of, nor why you expect to find your pictures there.
    Some questions:
Have you ever moved your iPhoto Library?
Do you have a Folder called ‘Previous System Folder’ now, and have you looked in there?
Did you back up before installing?

That would be just as foolish as making my music unusable on the PC...
Okay, Let's assume that Apple is indeed THAT foolish.......How does one get the photos from the phone to the PC and still use them?

The photos are still on your phone, and if enabled in your Photo Stream. They are not automatically transferred to your computer when syncing.

where are my photos?  just tried to access time capsule after my first back up and am unable to open iphoto to verify they were backed up.

You can't open your backups directly with apps.
But you can see some types of files in your backups.  If you're still on Snow Leopard (or Lion with iPhoto '09 or earlier), see the gray box at the end of Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #15.
If you're on Lion with iPhoto '11, you can use the Finder to see the iPhoto library, per the beginning of that same link.  All you can see there is the library and size.

  • Where are my photos in icloud

Went on iCloud.com but cannot find my photos. Have 1000 photos in the cloud via my iPod, but can only see 500 on my apple TV and NOT the latest one. On iCloud.com I see not a single one - where are my photos?

Sorry I am too stupid for this.
Via Apple TV I see photos from March this year and they have been in the cloud since then!
Via iPod and iMac I see photos from April should they not disappear after 30 days as they will only be "stored" for 30 days. And why such chaos, different devices with different photos but the same cloud. If pictures will only be stored for 30 days everything should be easy. This is the reason why I tried to see what is going on my cloud.

  • Hi why are my photos after downloading twice ,once in photo library and once in a file with the date why cant i delete a file its an iphone 4s please help

why are my photos after downloadon twice one as photo library the other as a file with date how can i delete one file same pics

Generally I would not use Facebook for sharing any photos, it compresses the photos substantially, and when you have shadows and dark colours you get visible "bands" where there should be subtle gradients, ie at sunsets and sunrises.
It sounds like you are using two methods to upload to Facebook:
    1. Sharing from within Aperture, which basically syncs Facebook with your Aperture album, so any changes made at either end gets synced, hence the deletions from Albums, although the original file should still be in your library, just removed rom the album. It is like a playlist in iTunes.
    2. Exporting pics and uploading to Facebook from the browser.
I am not sure how method 1 gets compressed, but I know that uploading hi-res jpegs to Facebook using method 2 results in poor quality images.
I wouldn't even bother comparing option 1 or 2, and they will both be poor images once you view them on Facebook, as opposed to viewing uploaded images on proper image sharing / hosting sites.
Your problem is not with Aperture, it is using Facebook for showing your work.
If you export pics form Aperture at high res jpegs or TIFFs your images will be fine.
If you insist to use Facebook as your way to share your work, then your workflow should be this:
    1. Right click images you want to share.
    2. Select Export version.
    3. Export as 100% size and ensure the export settings are set at 100% quality.
    4. Upload this pic into Facebook.
This will get you the best image size and resolution on Facebook.
    See how you go.

  • Switched from iphone 4 to iphone 5 - where are my photos?

I switched from iphone 4 to iphone 5 - where are my photos?

Did you have them backed up anywhere? If not, they are most likely still on your iPhone 4. If you back them up to the cloud or to your computer, you could then place them on your new phone if you wanted.

  • HT201317 where are the photo's in icloud?

I am in my icloud on a pc
    signed in etc.
Where are the photo's that are supposed to be in icloud

You can't view photo stream photos on icloud.com.  They can only be viewed on an iOS device or computer that is signed into your account with photo stream enabled.  To set this up on your PC, see http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/pc.html.  Note: when you first enable photo stream on your PC you will only get photos from the last 30 days as older photos are no longer in iCloud.

  • Where are my photos saved, how to archive photos

    Hello,
currently I had imported photos from a camera to my MAC by using iPhoto import and event functionality. Now I would like to backup my photos by using rsync. But I can not find my photos as files on the disk.
    Where are my photos saved?
I am a new MAC user with some expirience in Unix qnd Linux.
    Thank you in advance
    Bernhard

    Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store
