Where are my videos in iPhoto

All of my photos appear in the cloud and show up on my MacPro in iPhoto, but I can't find any videos - the ones I took in between photos on my iPhone. What's so frustrating is that videos used to simply appear in my iPhoto libraries without having to take extra steps. There is nothing intuitive about locating videos or movies. If it's not intuitive, it goes against everything Mac. Everything.
Would appreciate knowing where my movies or videos are, or if I have to change settings, apply a fix, or somehow manually load them to my desktop (can't imagine this would be a solution). I'm discovering after more than 20 years with Apple, that changes being made are not always for the better, and are certainly not intuitive. If we have to ask, after exercising with this brand and its models for so long, then you're doing it wrong.

In iPhoto:
FIle -> New SMart Album
Photo ->is -> Movie
will find all the movies.
Photostream from your Phone to your Mac does not include video. Never has.

  • Where are my videos?

    Hi
I have a Ipod nano, I just uploaded some videos but i cant seem to find them in my ipod. There no videos or anything like that on my list on my ipod. Where are my videos? And can i play videos on my Ipod? (i heard you can)

no i wasnt implying anything jsut curious as to why offer advice on a hack theat will void the warranty on the ipod. I mean you should realize as a role for answering questions here is to...yeha sure give possible software but also not mention things that are known to be faulty adn that clearly void the waranty. Then if something does occur well then the poster can always come back to you adn say but he mentioned it. Yes people are supposed to think for themselves and be smart on their own but society has repeatedly shown that many cant.
Which is why many are mad when they find out here that apple cant track their stolen ipods.......which is mind boggling to understand whty a company would ever do that. but thats a seperrate topic. :P

  • Where are the video tutorials I saw generated from the PhotoShop CS.5 Installation Disc?

Where are the video tutorials I saw generated from the PhotoShop CS.5 Installation Disc? How to work on a face, New to CS5, How to strip in a background? etc. Very helpful. Want to get started here.

Thank you Curt Y. You're right. They're there. The tutorials are so smart. Don't know why they didn't download. With video tutorials "Live time" experts fumble themselves giving a perfect means for the user to absorb the "logic" of how the PhotoShop function thinks. There's no other way. Only a robot can, wants to, is motivated by boring line by line written description.  I rather eat gravel than try and follow "line by line."  line-by-line = ZZZZZZZZZZZZ.  Have a great holiday season, whereever you are, whatever you celebrate. • Where are the videos taken by iphone stored in iphoto?

I've taken a number of videos and still photos with my iphoto but only the still photos appear in Iphoto. Where are the visdeos stored and how can I retrieve them?

How are you moving the photos from your Phone to iPhoto?
    What version of iPhoto?
By default everything you import into iPhoto is stored in the iphoto library - What do you mean by "how do I retreive" them?
To use videos in iMovie launch imovie and import the videos to iMovie
To use them with other programs select them in iPhoto and export with kind = original (see the user tip on exporting for more information on the current options in exporting)
What exactly are you haveing problesm with and what exactly do you want to accomplish?

  • Where are my video clips???

I accidentally deleted my iMovie project file, thinking I no longer needed it. Where are the clips stored that I was using with that project? Does deleting the project also delete all those clips, making me have to record them from my camera again, or are they (like most video editing programs) stored elsewhere on my hard drive? Thanks!

    Hi Braden
Sorry to say: The videoclips is stored inside the project
    icon not elsewhere.
Start a new project (My phantastic movie)and store it on
    Your desktop. Close iMovie.
Now ctrl-click on the project icon and select show package
    - in this there is a folder "Media" and in this clis belonging
    to this project is stored.
alas. You have to re-import Your material into a new project.
    Yours Bengt W

  • Syncing pictures and videos from pc to iPad. Where are the videos stored?

Can't find my videos on iPad. Where are they?

They should be either in the Videos or Photos app; if not you could try spotlight searching for them.

  • Where are itunes videos stored?

I had some videos in my library and removed them. I meant to click move files to recycle bin and clicked keep files. Now I have no way to delete them because I don't know where itunes stores its videos.
    Anyone know where to look?

If the iTunes is set to manage library then they will be in Movies folder or TV Shows folder wherever your library is. If they are music videos then the files will be in the artist's folder.

  • Iphoto 4.0.3 Where are my videos at?

Does anyone know where my videos from my camera are stored once I download my photos into Iphoto?

iPhoto 4 doesn't download any videos -- it's only concerned with still photos. If you off-loaded any short movie clips from your camera, it could not have involved iPhoto -- and you would either have been asked to specify a download location, or you would have had to drag the file(s) manually to some location on your hard drive.
In either event, only you (or perhaps someone looking over your shoulder at the time) could know where that destination might be.

  • Where are my videos stored

Hi -  I've just started using iMovie with videos (I'd done a short one with stills before, but this is mp4 shot with my little point-&-shoot camera).  I download them into iPhoto and up till now I've only had a few and just left them in iPhoto and played them there.
But one evening recently I took a lot of videos of a band playing a gig in a pub, and wanted to edit a bit and see what I could do with them.
It's all great fun but something happened just now - I haven't deleted those pub videos from my camera yet, and this morning I went to download some still photos I'd taken yesterday, and iPhoto is showing all my pub videos as not imported yet.  So iPhoto isn't recognizing them as being there, but they're definitely there and they play normally.
My process for getting them into iMovie from iPhoto was, I dragged each one to my desktop, them imported them individually into iMovie.  Then did some Projects.
They all show up in Finder under iMovie Events and Projects, and double-clicking on those opens up iMovie.
So - could anyone tell me where these videos reside now?  In Finder?  Am I doubled up on the space they're taking up?  I can leave things as they are, everything's working fine, but I really should know what I'm doing
    Thanks,
    Lynne

Right, it looks like copies in both - however that doesn't explain the fact that iPhoto doesn't treat it as "already imported" and instead shows it under "new video" when I plug my camera in.
I used to use my own folder system years ago when I had a pc, but have been happy with iPhoto for the last 5 years I've had a mac. Its tools and editing are enough for me, and are simple to use.  I've been scanning and organizing some very old photos I inherited, trying to preserve them - it's a big job and the photos vary greatly in quality, some badly deteriorated, damaged, faded black and whites, and shades of sepia.  All very precious but there are a lot of them - I'm really happy with the results I'm getting with minimal time (and knowledge!) of editing.
It's iMovie that I find difficult - I tried to delete the video clips in the iPhoto section of Events and couldn't get that to work either, so enough is enough, lol.  I'm going to "cheat" - and get my 15-yr-old granddaughter to do it.
    Thanks for replying,
    Lynne

  • Where are my photos? iPhoto library hides them AND renames the folders

I recently upgraded to Lion OS and can no longer see my photos and videos in Finder. A search shows that they are all in a dir that is actually an iPhoto library. Bizarrely it has been given the name of the first lot of photos that I imported in to iPhoto from a flash drive - so all of my photos are "packaged" inside a file called "mom's photos"!!!. In Finder it appears as a data item - NOT as a folder - the contents of which can be seen by clicking "Show Package Contents". Inside this "package" is the directory tree that Get Info shows is the path for a photo file. The photos have been arbitrarily put in to directories called "Modified" and Originals within which they have been stored in folders with year names ("2003", "2006", etc) that have no connection to the date the photos were created or their file names.
Is this considered to be progress by Apple?  How can I work with my files independently of iPhoto or iMovie (raw video being also inside the iPhoto library "package")? How can I reverse the renaming of the folders? Can I rename the iPhoto library to a default name - such as "iPhoto Library" for example!
Any pointers on how to deal with this new regime for handling photos and video will be welcome
    jilsybean

    It's really very simple.
If you want to manage files, use a file browser.
If you want to manage photos, use a Photo manager like iPhoto.
No version of iPhoto has supported the user accessing the files via the Finder. None at all. In versions 1 to iPhoto 6 it was possible to view the contents of the library, but accessing was not supported. Making changes within the iPhoto Library was not supported. Renaming files and folders corrupted the Library.
So, with iPhoto 7 (released in the autumn of 2007) the library was moved into a package to protect it from Users making these changes.
How the files are stored simply doesn't matter. Why? Because everything you need to do can - and should - be done via the iPhoto application. It's a database, after all, and like any db requires that you manipulate the data via the app itself, not a back door.
iPhoto is your go-to app for anything you need to do with your Photos. You simply never access them via the Finder.
So, you can edit either with iPhoto - or in any other app: You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
Or, you want to access your photos for any reason at all:
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
All of the above are a: faster and b: safer than rooting around in the old library folders.
I know it's a change but you'll get used to it. And, of course, if you don't, you can always use another app.

  • Where are my videos in ICloud after being backed up in ICloud?

I have done a backup on my Iphone 4s with all my apps, music, pics and videos.  Where in Icloud can I find my pics and videos?  In Itunes the apps and music are there but I just can't find my pics and videos.  Not sure if I have to connect Iphone to the computer with wire and then upload?
    Thanks for any help.

You cannot find your pics and videos in iCloud. You have backed up your iPhone to iCloud, and in iCloud is a big backup file. You can find your backup and you can restore it to your iPhone, but you cannot find individual files withing the backup.
You can restore your iPhone from the backup.
"Here’s a quick list of what exactly is stored in an iPhone Backup:
Various settings from the Settings app data, including Mail and Calendar account settings (but not the actual Mail messages and Calendar events).
    Paired Bluetooth devices.
Safari bookmarks and Safari AutoFill data.
SMS and MMS messages, Notes items, voice memos, and photos and video from the Camera Roll. The one exception is that videos greater than 2 GB are not backed up.
Preferences and data for third-party apps (such as game high scores), but not the apps themselves.
Passwords for Mail and Wi-Fi accounts (from the iPhone’s Keychain file). These passwords will restore only to the same iPhone. If you upgrade to a new device, for example, you must re-enter these passwords on the new device. You may also have to reset your Voicemail password.
A backup does not store photos synced via iTunes nor any iPod music or video."

  • Learning to use a Mac- where are the video tutorials?

I am an old PC user, converting to this sleek machine after loving my iphone. but I am really struggling to understand all the new conventions, keystrokes, and shortcuts. I can't even really understand safari- there is no "web address" window at the top, so I go to google for everything.
Are there not video tutorials somewhere on my machine? reading the articles is hard to do if I don't see the interface.

  • Where are Shared Photos from iPhoto in iTunes?

So I open iPhoto, select a photo, choose share to iTunes. iPhoto says it is transferring the photo to iTunes. However, when I look in iTunes, I cannot figure out where I am supposed to see the file I transferred.
Anybody know how this is supposed to work?
I'm running the latest everything ...

Thanks, it wasn't all that intuitive in iTunes, sinc e you have to scroll down to see it.
A little confused about what happens after I saved it to my Mac.
The file still shows up in the sharing pane, and there seems to be no way to get rid of it. How exactly does this work? Was the file actually transferred to iTunes from my phone, or is iTunes only transferring it to my Mac when I choose to save it to my Mac? If the latter, then the items in the sharing pane of iTunes are essentially aliases, but how do I delete them from the list once I downloaded them?
    Thanks.

  • Where are my photos from Iphoto?

I recently opened Iphoto only to find that all my pictures are no longer there. My Library has gone from 11Gigs to 7 Mbs. I've considered rebuilding my library as suggested on other discussions but have no means of making a back up as I can't locate any of my pictures. I don't understand how or where they would have been relocated on my hard drive as they aren't in the trash either. I have iphoto version 7.6. I have no back up of the pictures and really hope all is not lost.
The only thing I've done differently recently would be that I was copying files from an event onto my desktop for easy locating during final cut pro editing that I was about to do, I stopped the transfer shortly after I had started it due to the selecting of the wrong event. Closed Iphoto and re-opened it and nothing was there.
    Any help will be appreciated
    Ray

My Library has gone from 11Gigs to 7 Mbs.
There are no photos in that Library. Any chance you have a second Library somewhere on your mchine?
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' It will list all the Libraries it finds.

  • Where are the video files?.

    Forum,
I am very confused, not sure I have even entered the subject question correctly.
The MBP will not capture directly to external drive,a former post to the forum has advised me to purchase a firewire card.
Therefore I have captured to a partition on the internal drive.
    No problems.
I then dragged the file from the internal partition to the external drive,a green cross appeared which I understand indicates the file has transfered to the external drive.
However when I examine space used on the external drive it is only 157Mb.
Clearly a 30 minute video uses 6 Gb.
I can see that information in the internal partition.
Now what I can not understand is when I choose the file in FCP to enter into the viewer it tells me it is offline.
Thinking it may be in the external drive, despite knowing that it can not be stored in 157 Mb.I start up the external drive.
Now the clips come to life and I can drag them into the viewer and proceed.
So, where is the 6Gb. file?
Why do I need to start up the external drive when the file is not there,or is it.
Some time ago Studio X advised me it is better to enter video files onto an external drive.
So I have taken his advice because he obviously knows what he is talking about.
Any way there is not space to store all my video files on the internal partition, the OS and applications take up 85 Gb. so that means 100Gb. allowing for 10% head room, only about 38 Gb. for video files.
The information I have entered about my kit is accurate.
If my post appears pedantic, forgive me,but so many posters are asked to clarify or give more information.
I hope I have supplied all information required.
    Thank you
    Michael Craven.

    David,
    Thank you for your reply.
Your information in paragraph 1 is noted with interest and added to my information book.
I have carried out the steps you suggested in paragraph 2.
    157 Mb. is still shown.
When I open the file in Quick time, the following statement appears "The movie could not be opened,The file is not a movie file"
Well to press on I deleted all files from the internal drive partition named "video files" That partition is empty.
So,back to the iomega external drive.
Opened the file "Georgie and her kittens'.
FCP opens and shows the eight clips of that video.
Double click, select "show in the viewer" and they appear in the viewer.
Obviously the video files are on the external drive. I think.
I must have had doubts that a transfer of 6 Gb. from the internal drive to an external drive was so quick.
The iomega external drive shows "extended (journaled)"
In a later post reply Ken Summerall sugests "journaled' slows down information selection.
How do I remove " journaled"?
Should I pose that question in another post?
    Thank you for your help.
    Michael Craven.
