Where are passwords stored on Firefox for Android?

I can find instructions for getting to your saved passwords file on the desktop version, but the Android version has far fewer option in the settings menu. How can you find your saved passwords on the Android app? Thanks!

Hello,
There isn't a native manager in Firefox for android, but you can use an addon:
*[https://addons.mozilla.org/android/addon/mobile-password-manager Mobile Password Manager]

Using the Saved Password Editor may be overkill for most users. The quickest way to manipulate saved passwords in Firefox is on the menu bar go to:
Tools -> Options -> Security -> Saved Passwords -> Show Passwords

  • Where are passwords stored for Safari websites

I thought the place was the Keychain, but where else is are passwords stored?
I have jsut done a complete reset of the keychain from keychain Access, and the passwords page shows empty
Yet when I go to certain websites, I still get logged in automatically.
So where are these other passwords stored?

    HI,
The usernames and passwords are stored in the Keychain Access application but only if you have the Safari Preferences set up to do so.
With Safari open, from the Menu Bar, click Safari / Preferences and select the AutoFill tab.
Make sure Usernames and Passwords is selected.
    From the Finder Help Viewer...
When you set up a user account in Mac OS X using the Accounts preferences pane, a keychain with the same password is automatically created the first time you log in to the computer. This keychain is the default keychain. When you create passwords for servers or applications, the passwords are added to this keychain.
You may want to create an additional keychain for personal use that isn’t automatically unlocked when you log in to your user account. For example, you can create a “top secret” keychain to store notes, financial information, and any other items you want to store securely.
    To create a keychain:
Open Keychain Access, located in the Utilites folder in the Applications folder.
    Open Keychain Access
    Choose File > New Keychain.
Type a name for the keychain, and then click Create.
Type a password for the keychain, and then type it again in the Verify field.
For help choosing a good password, click the key button to the right of the Password field.

  • Cl58: How Secure are passwords stored on Firefox

Without divulging anything to sensitive. How protected are the passwords we have stored on firefox. Thanks!

The names and passwords are encrypted by a Triple-DES key that is stored in key3.db and a master password adds an additional level to that encryption.
If you do not use a master password then having access to key3.db and signons.sqlite is sufficient to have access to the encrypted names and passwords.
So use a strong master password (e.g at least 12 characters) that can't be easily guessed or found via a dictionary lookup or a script then you should be safe.
Make sure that you remember that master password or all passwords are lost.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_DES - TripleDES (CBC mode)

  • Iprint client 5.99 where are passwords stored?

    Hi,
we have a serious problem since iprint client 5.99 update on some lab machines.
The question: where does iprint store this password information?
there are circumstances in which User A prints afterwards user B logs in and the user credentials from user A are still visible in iprint client prefernce
    (LDAP_DN, LDAP, eDir, Permanent)
where does this come from? registry? ini?
The Setup is with Novell Client - seemless Login.
if user B trys to print the print is cancelled.
    ippErrs.log shows:
    Module: spoolsv.exe
    Trace Info: registry.c, line 12299, thread 00000DB0
Routine: GetSessionLoginData - RegOpenKeyEx failed 2
Error: Das System kann die angegebene Datei nicht finden.
it seems it tries to look up password information in the rgeistry.
    regards
    Markus

    more details:
this lab PCs use a shared user. (one windows User and SID - but with Novell Login Client32 and iPrint credentials passthrough)
Scenario: UserA logs on and Prints successfully. UserA Logs Off Windows Session. UserB Logs on via Novell Client.
=> iPrint Settings shows UserA DN! - and - in some cases even prints with UserA Credentials!! In other Cases Print is canceled.
I cannot find any place for the credential information. Verfied with registry comparison and file changes view. User Profile is mandatory/empty.
Only possibility i can think of that iPrint credentials are in Memory (Spooler?) and survives Windows Session logoff/logon.
    Machine restart clears credentials.
This behavior was introduced with iPrint Client 5.99
As a quick workaround i placed a logoff script at the Machines with iprntcmd.exe -c (clear all passwords). Not Ideal however.

  • How do I get Firefox for Android to download and install?

I had Firefox installed on my Android tablet, an Asus TF300T. I was notified there was an update so I clicked to let in install. I avoid auto updates as I need to use a website that is always a couple of versions behind in compatibility. Well, the update would not download and I tried several times. It just seems to time out (error 495 is reported). I tried uninstalling Firefox to attempt a fresh install. This has worked with other apps that were being difficult when installing updates. Now I still can't get Firefox for Android to complete a download in order to get it installed. What's the deal with this latest version? I'd like to get Firefox back on my tablet but the options are extremely limited and frankly the amount of help on the website is also extremely limited. Any help would be appreciated.

I have an android tablet and am using a web application that has links to Word documents. I need this to be very simple for the end user. By default Firefox downloads the file (which is on a share on our server). The user then has to find it and open it - too many steps.

  • Firefox for android doesn't load all my passwords and corrupts bookmarks

Firefox for Android doesn't load all my passwords on my tablet (Lenovo).
Also, syncing corrupts my bookmarks on my desktop and laptop by inserting bookmarks which I have deleted days ago..
It syncs through all three devices and I know that it syncs because when I sync from my desktop, all three devices have the same time-stamp of when they synced.
It seems as though, if you have two usernames/passwords for the same login address, such as 2 Gmails - there is no dropdown which shows both emails/passwords from which to choose from.
This is all very frustrating, especially when I'm out and only have my tablet and I need to login somewhere when I'm with a client, and I can't login because Firefox/Android doesn't show my login info or the bookmark that I need is not there, because my bookmarks are corrupted after a sync.
I have lost clients because of this.

    Hi modularbase.
I understand that there are some issues with sync between three devices. Specifically, there is an issue with corrupt bookmarks and passwords that are not stored.
Please make sure these settings are set:
    * [[Control whether Firefox automatically fills in forms with your information]] * [[Usernames and passwords are not saved]]
    * [[Using Master Password on Firefox for Android]]- the password manager addon for mobile devices may benefit in this situation.
However on mobile, specifically for Gmail signin, accounts.google.com can store a few mail accounts, however you would have to add an account by clicking on "Sign in with a different account". In Firefox, passwords are stored by website in the password manager.

  • Why are web developer tools not available on Firefox for Android?

I do some freelance web design. I just replaced my laptop with a tablet last year (Samsung Galaxy 10.5 S). I want to do web development on it - I work from a terminal doing Ruby on Rails and web development all the time. It would be awesome to have the F12 developer tools handy in Firefox for Android, but sadly I've waited for a while and there is no indication they will ever appear.
Do NOT suggest using a remote debugger - I'm not testing the layout of pages on my tablet, I want to be able to profile, view source (without an add-on) and such. I have seen this exact question marked closed by suggesting remote debugging, and I fail to see how telling me to use my tablet next to a laptop or desktop is a solution. Telling me to carry a second device means I don't need the tablet at all, when my intention is to ONLY use the tablet.
My tablet has a huge screen resolution and a powerful processor - more powerful than some laptops? Why is Firefox for Android neutered? I would understand disabling it by default to help those with less powerful devices, but why remove something that would add a competitive edge to your product, and is already integrated in desktop Firefox and has been for years? I prefer Firefox, but if Chrome adds web developer tools for Android first, I'll switch to Chrome.
There are people today using a tablet as their sole computing device. Please do not relegate us to a second-class Firefox experience!
    Thanks,
    Ryan

  • Is there a possibility to download files directly to the external usb drive in Firefox for Android?

I have the Android device that support external usb hard drive, when I want to download some files via Firefox there are only two possible "places" where I can put the files - external memory or SD card. It will be nice if there would be an option to save file on ext. usb drive.

    Hi Nix_N1:
Yeah I don't know about this and I don't have an Android device that supports USB storage.
What Android device are you using and what operating system (Jellybean? Ice Cream sandwich ?)
I asked the Mozilla QA folks and they said Firefox for Android uses the Android platform download directory so the USB drive *should* show up if it registers properly with Android.
    They suggested the following:
    # removing the SD card and seeing if it shows up in place of the SD card.
    # perhaps changing the following preference (type "about:config" in the url bar without the quotation marks)
    ''' browser.download.dir'''
will fix it ('''WARNING:untested and unsupported but hopefully this might help''')
Regardless I suggest filing a bug at (I looked but couldn't find a bug that corresponds to this):

  • Firefox for Android 31 crashes constantly

I recently reinstalled Android OS on my tablet. Android 4 ICS)
I reinstalled Firefox, and then went to EFF to install their extension. I the discovered I had Firefox 31, and had to settle for a beta version of EFF's add-on.
Firefox keeps crashing. The Android FAQ's are no longer kept up-to-date, and the section covering slowness, crashing etc is absent!
I really need to revert to version 30, only updating when EFF have caught up.

    Hi!
I still don't know where to go to provide details of individual crashes in Firefox for Android.
Never mind. I decided to reinstall, so here's hoping it works better this time round. At least when I went to EFF I did not have to settle for the beta version of HTTPS Everywhere. The stock version installed straightaway with no dialogue box telling me my version of Firefox was incompatible.
    Thanks anyway.

  • Firefox for Android won't install on HTC Explorer

My HTC Explorer seems to have all the requirements for Firefox to be installed.
The screen resolution is 320 x 480 - more than the minimum spec.
The Android version is 2.3.5. - higher than the version quoted.
    HTC Sense version 3.5
But when I try to install from Play Store, I get the message
"Your device isn't compatible with this version".
Why not? Is there a version that IS compatible? And if so, where can I find it,
and what, precisely, is it called?

hello CambridgeChris, even if it's not available through the google play store, you can download all versions of firefox for android dirctly from mozilla's FTP server. details are available at: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android
however, since you device is rather low-spec and firefox on android is a full-fledged browser with its own rendering engine, it will require quite a lot of system resources - so you might not get the best experience out of it at your current setup...

  • Anybody else having problems using alt+ANY_OTHER_KEY in Firefox for Android?

I am using Verizon Droid (original) with Froyo, unrooted.
Currently even with alt pressed, I am getting the original character (in white on the keyboard), not the alt character (in yellow on the keyboard).
I noticed this occurring when I tried to enter my Firefox Sync username/password.

There's a bug in Firefox for Android that means you need to hold the ALT key down *while* pressing the number key (unlike other Android apps where you can release the ALT key before pressing the next key). Does this work for you?
We will fix the bug in a future release, so that the keyboard will work just like in other Android apps.
