Where can i buy an airport extreme card for my powerbook

Where can I buy an airPort extreme caed for my powerbook? are they even available, if not how can I go wireless ?

eBay is a good source, though as ever, buy wisely and make sure you get the right card for your specific model.
Alternatively there are wireless cards available that go in the card slot. Again eBay is full of them but be sure they're OSX compatible -  its a good idea to put this phrase in your search terms.
I can vouch that this one works as I'm using it now:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SAGEM-PCMCIA-AIRPORT-54MBPS-WIRELESS-WIFI-CARD-MAC-OS-X-/4 00124141388?pt=UK_Computing_Apple_Mac_Accessories&hash=item5d2941df4c#ht_3229wt_ 886
It just plugged straight in and was recognised as an Airport Card. This is from the UK site but I'm sure you can find the same thing wherever you live, or at that price just have it shipped.

    This original post is mine
I wanted to clarify that Verizon has unlocked the phone for me before I left the US
The international sim cards that I have been able to locate in Norway are caled Mycall or Lebour.
They are labled mini-sim cards but do not fit nor are they as small as the original Verizon one.

No you can not use an AirPort Extreme card with your PowerBook.
Your PowerBook G4 400 MHz requires the original AirPort card.

  • A few questions before I buy an AirPort Extreme card

My house and every house on my side of the street is just 10 feet shy of the "recommended" range of all DSL providers in my area. So, I have to stick with Dial-Up until I want digital cable, satellite, or until any one provider moves their office closer to my house. Since I don't want the first two, I've been thinking about buying an AirPort Extreme card, but I'm not 100% sure that it'll do what I want. If I buy one without a Base Station, will I be able to "piggyback," so to speak, onto one of my neighbors across the street's wireless network, providing they don't require a password form an outside source? My cousin has a MacBook G4, and he has AirPort Extreme already installed in the laptop; he's able to piggyback onto his girlfriend's network via her wireless router (I'm not positive what brand it is). I'm just wondering if I can do the same with my outdated, though reliable, computer.

Hello Scrumptious Matt. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!

The AirPort Extreme is 802.11g/b-compliant, and should be able to connect to any open Wi-Fi wireless network that is within range. For 802.11g AirPort base stations, the range is 50' for 802.11g, and 150' for 802.11b.

  • Airport Extreme Cards for Powerbook Ti

So, why noy make an internal airport extreme card for the Ti Powerbooks? It's not like theyre that old of a model. and if other companys can make em for external use why cant Apple do this?
Hopefully someone at Apple reads this. Ive been an avid supporter of Apple comps and its not like customers such as myself wouldnt actually buy these if they were to release them. Think about it....every titanium power book user would prolly run out and re-buy the already installed cards all over again. Makes sense to me.
    WM

It may make sense to you, Wil, but not many people nowadays are investing in hardware enhancements for their three-and-four-year-old Tibooks. And with other manufacturers producing cards that can be installed in a Tibook and moved on to the next laptop without ever opening up the Tibook, and offering (in many cases) far better wireless range than the built-in Airport antenna can offer, Apple would face tough competition for the few customers who might be interested in such a product.

  • Airport Extreme Card for a Power Mac G5

    Hi!
I have a power Mac G5 (1.8 GHZ 512 MB 160 GB) Serial Number XB40**QES. I want to buy an airport extreme card and found here on apple.com that the airport card I need is the M8881LL/A. But everyones at every store I´ve been keep telling me that a I need a special card for it, because the regular card just won´t fit the slot. Is this true?
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

    Hi-
    Welcome to Discussions!
I need a special card for it, because the regular card just won´t fit the slot. Is this true?
    No.
The "special" airport extreme/bluetooth card is only for dual core Late 2005 G5's. Your 1.8ghz G5 can use the Airport Exteme Card M8881LL/A.

  • Airport Extreme Card for Mac Pro (bought in 2006)

In or around 2006 I bought a Mac Pro (it was right when the starting coming with Intel Chips) and didn't upgrade to have it come with a Airport Extreme Card inside. A week later I ordered one, but it wasn't the right one. I have been looking online and found one, the MA688Z/B on amazon.com. I have looked at websites showing how to install this, however, I don't see the place on the motherboard where it goes. Is this the right internal Airport Extreme card for my Mac Pro from 2006 or is there a different one? Also, is the Airport Express that is external better and should I just go that route?
    Please help! Thanks!

Here's a picture of the 802.11n module installed in a Mac Pro.
It's small and fits near drive bay 2. It's not designed to be fitted by customers, so you cannot buy the card on the Apple Website. Fitting involves plugging in the card. A small brass screw - and two antenna cables, which clip onto the corners.
Unless you have tiny fingers, I'd pay to have it fitted in an Apple Store.
Warning. The Mac Pro is heavy. Do not attempt to carry it to the mall if you have a heart condition or are pregnant.

  • Where can I buy a larger hard drive for my late 2008, 15" macbook pro?  From reviewing questions and answers on the support community it would appear that having Apple remove the old and install the new hard drive is recommended.  But how/where?

Where can I buy a larger hard drive for my late 2008, 15" macbook pro?  From reviewing questions and answers on the support community it would appear that having Apple remove the old and install the new hard drive is recommended.  But how/where?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can install the new hard disk yourself if you want to. You just need a 2'5" SATA II hard drive, which is compatible with your MacBook Pro. You can buy one at OWC > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/ You can filter hard drives by computer, so press a "Click to view all...", choose your computer in the sidebar and it will give you the compatible hard drives.
There are different brands for the MacBook Pro. The most recommended are HGST and Seagate, which have good reputation. A 7200 rpm hard drive will give you extra performance
