Where can I find a Javascript developer for InDesign scripting?

Hi
as
I apologise in advance for posting on a technical site for InDesign developers, but our company (Dorling Kindersley) is looking for a full-time permanent developer to join our team. I've been looking for some months now and I would really appreciate some advice on where or how InDesign scripters look for work, as our role is quite specialised.
We can offer an attractive package and although I'm biased as I work there, Dorling Kindersley really is a nice place to work - fun, friendly and super creative. I would welcome advice or for someone to approach me if they're interested.
It's advertised as full-time and permanent but for the right candidate we can offer flexible working conditions.
Best
Heather Hughes
Publishing Technologies Software Developer (permanent role)
We’re looking for an enthusiastic individual keen to join our Creative Technical Support team, to create, maintain and enhance software tools for our creative and operations teams around the globe. This is a permanent full-time role.
Each tool is a script or collection of scripts that allows DK to automate their creative workflows, from checks that spreads and covers have been created correctly to automated deployment of colour settings.
The ideal candidate will have solid experience of using scripting to command Mac OS and Adobe products, have strong analytical skills and be curious, patient and willing to learn new skills. If you have design, publishing or print experience this will be an asset, but we can help fill in the gaps with training and guidance. You’ll need to be a ‘people’ person as most of the people you’ll come into contact with won’t have a software development background.
Not only do you get to work next door to Covent Garden, in the heart of London, but  you’ll be welcomed into a small team of  friendly and irreverent geeks, who are experts in Adobe applications and workflows  and helping creative teams overcome their technical problems. Lunchtimes are often spent getting out and sampling the local cuisine in the vast number of restaurants and eateries around the office.
You’ll get to work in a relaxed, sociable and friendly environment, working alongside our award-winning creative staff to develop their ideas for tools and get satisfaction from freeing them up to be even more creative.
Skills required:
Excellent skills and experience in using Javascript
Experience of working with Macs and Adobe applications preferred
Other programming skills and experience an advantage, e.g.  Applescript, Adobe InDesign Document Object Model, XML structure, TDD, Shell Script, Obj-C, C++ and Xcode
Ability to learn new technologies swiftly
Why work for DK?
DK is an award-winning global publisher of distinctive, highly visual products for adults and children alike. We have a reputation for producing innovative design and digital products.
Everything we make from books, eBooks and apps give unrivalled clarity to topics with a unique combination of words and pictures, put together to spectacular effect.
We produce content for consumers in over 52 countries and 42 languages from offices in Delhi, London, Melbourne, Munich, New York and Toronto. We celebrate our 40th birthday this year, and we are enormously proud to be the world’s leading illustrated reference publisher.
You’ll  be joining an awesome and highly talented, diverse and creative team, in an environment where everyone is encouraged to learn and coach new skills, as well as having the opportunity to grow and develop with people who are passionate about what they do.

Hi Heather,
I think you've found probably the best place possible to post this opening.
I personally am interested, and would like to pursue this further. My email is admin [at] freelancebookdesign.com
Thanks,
Ariel

  • Where can I find a sample ERD for a University

    Hello.
I have to develop a program in C# that manages details about the students, taxes, courses, etc and prints some reports.
    It's for my license degree.
The programming part is not that hard but the task that is killing me is designing the database because I have poor experience with data modeling.
I don't have access to my university's database so I need to make one myself..and the teachers won't help..
I tried to make a diagram but I realised that I cannot do it, I got stuck.
An university database can get extremely complex and it's hard to make .. so I wonder if any of you know where can I find a sample ERD for a University. I need one as complete as possible.
    Any help is appreciated..

Unfortunately due to the quality of most of the homework questions on these forums I believe you when you say the teachers are no help. You should still discuss it with them and make clear you are not learning what they are supposed to be teaching.

The top hit looks like a good start.

  • Where can I find a restore disc for a PowerBook G4?

Where can I find a restore disc for a PowerBook G4?

The detailed problem is that I had used the computer for a long time without turning off.  I wanted to give it to someone else so I needed to clean the data off. Before deleting anything I switched off then on and the HD seemed to have developed a fault as the start up routine began then when the Hd started the computer crashed and restarted at the begining with the startup routine and I have not been able to go further than this.  I changed the HD for an old one that I had replaced previously which had the same software system, Leopard.  This worked perfectly but on switching off then on behaved as the other had.
I figured that if I could start with the restore disc I could clean the HD or at least investigate it.  Hence the need for a restore disc.
Would this work or is there something in the logic board that is upsetting the HD and what ever I do will not cure the problem.
    Any thoughts??

where can I find an interactive tutorial for lookout?

There are a couple different interactive resources available on ni.com to learn more about Lookout.
    1) First, there is a Getting Started Video for Lookout 6 which provides a short introduction to the environment and development concepts. It is found at the following link (the Lookout homepage), by clicking on the "Product Demonstrations" link on the right side of the page:
    http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/12511
    2) Also, there is a twelve step tutorial that leads you through the creation of an entire process with Lookout. This tutorial focuses on three key concepts: configuring a process, a network connection, and a web client. It may be found at the following link:

  • Where can I find detailed, systematic HELP for advanced topics relating to Thunderbird?

In moving from XP to Windows 7, I opted for Thunderbird as email client in order to bypass Microsoft's hyper-intrusive Windows Live Mail (I used Outlook Express for years).
I have a very complicated email structure, and it's taken me weeks (seriously) to learn how to replicate it in TBird. Now I'm trying to customize TBird further, but none of the TBird articles/forum Q&A's/Google searches address my questions.
There is no live tech support for TBird, and I'm just about ready to leave it for good. However -- one last effort: where can I find detailed, systematic HELP for advanced topics relating to Thunderbird?
    Thanks.

I am no expert, but I don't know of any authoritative reference as to what elements of HTML and CSS are supported in Thunderbird. However, as I believe you appreciate, it's more than just what Thunderbird supports, but one must also think about what is likely to work in other email clients. Keep it simple. Avoid ancient deprecated tags that other email clients may not support, and for similar reasons, avoid cutting edge technology. Remember that recipients using tablets or smartphones won't appreciate large fancy email documents.
The only thing ''guaranteed'' to work in email is plain text. ;-)
If you haven't already discovered it, the Stationery add-on is designed specifically to support OE stationery in Thunderbird. Your existing stationery may "just work" in this add-on. It makes switching between various stationery templates much easier, but I'm not confident that it will affect interpretation of your CSS or HTML coding.
Your code is at least clean and minimal. Most times my involvement with troublesome templates and signatures centres on the horrible bloat and mso custom code generated by Word or Outlook.
Having said that, you and I are mortal enemies, as I don't have much patience with what you aspire to achieve. I specifically don't like background images, nor being obliged to suffer other folks' bizarre choice of typefaces and colours (but your simple 12pt black Tahoma is quite inoffensive. ;-) ) I'm of an age where my tolerance and eyesight are easily offended.
Nonetheless, I'm intrigued by how to parse the tag for the background image, as it doesn't look like a legitimate pathname to a graphics file. Does the background image actually appear as required?

  • Where can I find a video tutorial for 5.5?

Where can I find a video tutorial for 5.5?
I am a Soudbooth user in CS4. When I upgraded to the master suite 5.5 soundbooth was not in the package, but Audition was.

There's a new webinar that is coming up soon (2012-01-18) by Larry Jordan: http://www.larryjordan.biz/webinars/#0118
We have several on Adobe TV: http://tv.adobe.com/product/audition/
There's some tutorials on Lynda.com, although they're for the older versions of Audition, they should still be mostly applicable: http://www.lynda.com/Audition-training-tutorials/159-0.html

  • Where can I find a BIOS update for Satellite A100-200 (PSAA8E)

    Hello,
Where can I find a BIOS update for this model?
The BIOS on the download page is November last year, is there anything newer or does anyone know of an update that is compatible?
    Thanks,
    Ian

Yep, newest updates and drivers for your notebook you will find on the Toshiba download pages, as Jimi already mentioned.
Just as a little hint from my side is, that if there is nothing wrong with your notebook, just leave it as it is.
As there is the saying, never touch a running system.
So keep that in mind. ;)

  • Where can I find a BIOS update for Satellite A200-14D (PSAEC)

    Hello,
Where can I find a BIOS update for this model?
My bios is 23/10/07 Windows Vista 32 Bit 1.80-WIN

    Hi
Did you check the Toshiba European driver page?
There you could find all drivers and BIOS for the Satellite A200-14D (PSAEC)
But I checked the page and the BIOS 1.8 for Win Vista 32bit is still the newest one.
Seems you are already up to date buddy ;)

  • Where can I find a logic board for iMac G5 17" (EMC No. 1989) Apple Part

HI  Where can I find a logic board for iMac G5 17" (EMC No. 1989) Apple Part #: 661-3290, 661-3351?

    Thanks--makes life easier!
I found DV Warehouse has a number of G5 logic boards but none had the exact model number:
    http://www.dvwarehouse.com/iMac-G5-Logic-Board-c-4771.html&pltid=05fedd9f246e2a1 dbc9f35cd6712e781
They have a toll-free number. You could ask if another board # would be compatible.
Another option is to contact recylers or schools shucking off older gear. Using the enigma of " A used computer is worth more parted out," you might be able to pick up another G5 cheaper than its LB. Unless the LB had the dreaded "leaky capacitor" failure, most computers don't get discarded for a bad LB.

where can i find a Labview driver for the "8990a PEAK POWER ANALYZER" it's not on NI's site.
if there is no driver maybe you can tell me the closest instrument that comes to this one from the list at,

so i could modify and use the driver

    Hello,
It looks like Agilent/HP makes the 8990A, but I was not able to find a driver for it that we or Agilent has written for this device.
Since I am not familiar with the 8990A, I cannot recommend which drivers might be similar, but you are pointed in the right direction. Agilent themselves might know more about which models use similar command sets so that you can modify a driver easily.
    Hope this helps.
