Where can I get RAM?

When I ordered my MacBook, I thought a gigabyte of RAM would be plenty, but now I think I should upgrade to 2 gigs before school starts. The only problem is, I have no idea where I can get MacBook compatible RAM that would work with my 2.16 gHz processor. If you all have an links to good deals or just to a place a can order RAM from, please post them. Thanks a lot.

I bought some crucial RAM at NewEgg for a very good price.

This is the RAM specs you need to look for: 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-5300)

  • What RAM do I need and where can I get it from?

    Hi all,
I know this is probably a simple question, but I just want to make sure I don't mess up my computer! I have an old school DV iMac, and bought the Mac OS X upgrade not too long after it came out (which is rather a while ago now!), but couldn't install it became I don't have enough RAM. And I obviously have just put it off and off. Now I'm at uni, and want the computer to work as well as it can for my mum, because she's even worse than me when it comes to computers. So, anyway, I need RAM. What type do I need and where can I get it from fairly cheaply? And how much would you recommend I get? My friend says he knows how to put it in, so all okay there hopefully/
    My computer's details:
    Processor info: PowerPC G3
    Machine speed: 400MHz
    OS: 9.2.2
    Built-in memory: 64MB
I remember being able to get more details than this from somewhere on the computer, but I can't remember where...I haven't used it for 6 months or something, and am obviously getting forgetful.
Hope someone can help. If you need to know anything else, tell me where to get the info from and I will tell you!
    Cheers,
    Fran

    Hi,
I just bought some RAM from Crucial.
If you go to www.crucial.com/uk and follow the Crucial Memory Advisor Tool, you should be able to find the RAM for your Mac.
1 GB sticks are pretty good value at the moment (they've even gone down a few pounds since I bought mine a week ago) and if you enter this code (found it on aonther thread here) you might get a couple of pounds knocked off the total: CUSTOMPC
There's also places like Kingston & Cancom to try, as well as Misco.co.uk. But Crucial select the recommended RAM for your Mac.
Also, when you think you've found the right RAM and want to buy it, try the Apple agent chat, and double-check with them.
    Hope this is useful.

  • Where can I get the driver for my HP DE8A4L external USB CD/DVD drive?

Where can I get the driver for my HP DE8A4L external USB CD/DVD drive?
On the label it says, Model HSTNN-PD06-91
    and
    HP PN: 518819-001 Rev.B
I've had my Mini 110-1000 running our music system for a couple of years, no complaints.  When I wanted a CD/DVD drive, I purchased a DE8A4L external USB drive directly from HP.  It didn't come with a driver disc.  When I plug it in, the USB subsystem does not enable it.  Device Manager shows a yellow exclamation point, saying, "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware..."   It is running Windows XP Home Edition SP3.
    What gives with this device?

Following up on tactic 2) above, I upgraded the BIOS from version F07 to the latest version available on the HP download site, version F19.  This went well, but unfortunately the system still does not recognize the device.
When I try to Device Manager, and select the DE8A4L DVD device, and try "search for a device driver", it says it cannot find a better match for the driver already installed.
This Mini 110-1000 only came with 1 Gb RAM, and Windows XP Home.   Is one of these a critical limitation for running an external USB DVD drive?

  • Satellite C850 - Where can I get and Win7 istallation .iso from?

    Hi guys,
I've searched around and found lots of threads, but haven't actually found a solution.
I bought C850 with Win7-64-home-premium preinstalled for my wife.
First I wanted to decline Microsoft EULA and claim money back for Win7 licence, but I thought its only 50 or 60 quid, and I might want it once a year so I left it as is.
First impression - its Terrible slow !!!
I have an old NB100, with Atom and 2GB RAM running Linux witch I use from time to time when I work on the move and this old tiny netbook is A LOT faster then my new C850 with i3 and 8GB of RAM. I mean A LOOOOOT faster.
Then I run Mint Live-CD and then I saw how fast C850 can be if only given real operating system instead of Microsofts crapware.
Then I installed WIn7-64-professional and there was a BIG difference. It wasn't nowhere near as fast as on Linux Mint, but it was whole lot better then original install.
That was only to check how it goes on clean install. I do not have licence for Win7-pro for C850 and I have not even a slightest intention of paying for something as useless as Win7. People should be paid for all the suffering caused by Win7.
On the other hand I would gladly pay for Linux Mint and in fact I have made a nice donation to the project not long time ago :)
Conclusion - slowdown was casued by Toshiba bloatware (which is completely not needed for proper operation of laptop!) and all the other stuff like McAfee or Nero.
I've tried to do reinstall but the reinstalled Win7 comes with all this bloatware and I need clean Win7 install.
To cut short answers like "install and delete waths not needed" - that doesn't solve the problem for two reasons:
    1) if install and delete, a lot of stuff stays on the system, registry entries, lots of files etc
    2) I need and .iso of Win7, so I can slipstream few things and get rid of WHOLE LOT of useless things
Where can I get and istallation .iso from ?
I mean clean Win7 without all that Toshiba bloatware, McAfee, Nero and other rubbish.
Mind you, I purchased a laptop with Win7 licence so I do have LEGAL RIGHT to use Win7 on its own.
    Any hint VERY MUCH appreciated.
    Thank you.

On this forum you can find a lot of similar threads where people write about the same experience. We can discuss about this theme for days but the conclusion is always the same: new notebooks are delivered with recovery image that contains OS, all necessary drivers, Toshiba specific tools and utilities, additional software and some stuff that nobody needs.
Nobody force notebook owners to use recovery image like this. What you must do is OS optimizing. Remove all software you dont need, disable auto start for all not important stuff and check Windows settings. I do the same all the time and there is big difference how notebook runs, especially start-up time will be much shorter. On this forum you can find very interesting threads about that.
So my advice for you is to install recovery image again and optimize it. The performance will be OK and your wife will have nice piece of hardware for everyday work.
    > 1) if install and delete, a lot of stuff stays on the system, registry entries, lots of files etc
Everything can be removed but if you dont do this it is definitely not so critical for notebook performance.
    > 2) I need and .iso of Win7, so I can slipstream few things and get rid of WHOLE LOT of useless things
At first, you will not find iso file anywhere and slipstreaming will not work at all. You cannot unbundle recovery image and use parts that you need. It doesnt work on this way.
I just hope you have created recovery disc before you have started your testing phase.

  • Where can i get a copy of MAC OS X 10.3

where can i get a copy of MAC OS X 10.3 I am refurbishing my Power PC Imac and have misplaced my old disc's..Thanks

eBay.  You should get a "retail" copy (which came on three CDs not one DVD), black with a big silver X.  Don't get a copy that came with a particular Mac model (grey color), unless it happens to be the disc that came with your particular Mac model.
You may want to consider getting Tiger (10.4) instead, if your Mac supports it.  Tiger provides better software compatibility with more recent applications, compared to Panther.
If your Mac is a G4 or G5, 867 Mhz or faster, with at least 512mb of RAM, Leopard (10.5) is also supported.
NOTE:  Leopard does not have "Classic" mode for running Mac OS 9 apps.  Tiger (and earlier) does.

  • Where can i get back up disks????

    Hey whomever reads this
I just purchased a used emac off ebay with 10.3.9 installed. It did not come with system disks. I only have 384mb of RAM at the moment and will not be able to add more until after the holidays so i cannot upgrade to Tiger or even Leopard (when it comes out) until i can upgrade the RAM. So basically my question is where can i get the Panther Disks?? I would just like to have them just incase i ever need to reinstall the OS before i can get my RAM upgraded. Can you get them from Apple? The older OS's are available for download but i could only find up to 9.2. I don't want to buy panther, i would rather upgrade ram and get tiger. If i can't get panther, would i be better off creating an image as a back up to hold me over? If so how would i go about this and also it would have to be on CD if possible. I put the CD/RW from my PC (boo to windows) into my mac the other day but i don't have a DVD drive. Wow, thats a lot of questions i just asked, lol, if anyone can help in anyway that would be great
    Thanx
    Jeff

You can buy Panther discs on eBay and from other online sources. A good place is www.applerescue.com. Panther discs are not available for download and are not free. In fact the person who sold you the eMac should have provided the installer discs that came with the computer, although they may not have been Panther discs.
You can purchase Tiger directly from Apple. Tiger requires a minimum of 256 MBs of RAM, so you do have sufficient RAM to run Tiger.
I would get an external Firewire drive of size equal to the internal hard drive and then clone the internal drive to the external drive. Disk images are not very useful for system backups because you cannot boot from a disk image.
    To clone your system:
How to Clone Using Restore Option of Disk Utility
    1. Select the destination drive on the Desktop and press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. At the bottom in the Ownership and Permissions section be sure the box labeled "Ignore Permissions on this Volume" is unchecked. Set Ownership and Permissions as follows: Owner=system with read/write; Group=admin with read/write; Other with read-only.
    2. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
    3. Select the backup or destination volume from the left side list.
    4. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (journaled, if available) and click on the Erase button. This step can be skipped if the destination has already been freshly erased.
    5. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
    6. Select the backup or destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
    7. Select the startup or source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
    8. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
For added precaution you can boot into safe mode before doing the clone.

Usually Apple sends an invoice to your mail 1-2 days after your purchase.
You may even search the invoice yourself, but I'm not sure if you will find it before 1-2 days.

    Hi,
We use PI 7.0 in productive environment, but we plan a release update to PI 7.11. We have several Java Mappings for PI 7.0 with Java 1.4. So we have to upgrade this also to Java 1.5.
We are using following SAP Java libs:

    - aii_mt_rt.jar
    - guidgenerator.jar
    - sapxmltoolkit.jar
Where can we get the equivalent libraries of the PI 7.11 system. Are there new API's? Is there a documentation where to get this?

  • Where can I get an additional power source for my MacBook Pro?

I am travelling to Europe next week and will be travelling on the road quite often. I would like to get some work done during that time. My laptop battery will inevitably run out of power during that time and I would like to carry an additional power source with me so I can get some extra juice when I am nowhere near an outlet.
I have the latest MacBook Pro where the battery is not removable.
Where can I get an additional power source for my MacBook Pro? I don't mind if it is a 3rd party product.

you could get something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Energizer-XP18000-Universal-External-Netbooks/dp/B002K8M9H C
it's about the same cost as an extra battery used to be. there's a range of similiar products at Amazon, i'd check reviews.
