Where did this music folder come from?

Today I noticed that there is sometimes a playlist titled "Maggie's Music" on my iTunes list. I do not have access to it, it askes for a password. Sometimes its not on my computer. I disabled file sharing on my computer, so why is someone able to access my music library and how do I stop it?

Go to the iTunes Preferences, click on the Sharing tab, and uncheck "Look for shared music". The playlist should go away and never return.

  • Where did this Spam folder come from and how to I "un-spam" emails?

    Hello
I have my email account setup on my iPhone via POP. There is no spam folder on my email server.
Yesterday I noticed hundreds of emails in a spam folder in the folder list on my iPhone. When I log into my webmail this folder is no there, therefore I am thinking the iPhone has created it.
Firstly, how do I stop it from doing this?
Secondly, emails in there are from people who have successfully emailed me in the past without getting filtered into spam so how do I un-spam emails?
Is this spam a new iOS4 feature?
Ultimately I can resetup my email as IMAP but that will delete all the emails in this folder and I don't want to do that (so I suppose I'm going to have to manually move them all right?)
    Many thanks for your help
    Ken

If you are using Gmail, it is the All Mail label that has always existed, but Snow Leopard didn't show it.
You can disable it in Gmail's settings under Labels. Set it to not show in IMAP.
Some people experience problems when doing that, though. I did not.
I set up my Gmail as shown in this blog post: http://jeffschuette.com/2012/03/07/setting-up-apple-mail-to-rock-and-roll-with-g mail/
I didn't want Gmail storing emails that I had deleted, so I used his setup to stop it, and I also hid the All Mail folder from Mail.

  • Where did this album artwork come from???????

Recently I sync'd my iPod (5G) and iTunes added an album cover to all my songs in the Rock genre. All my albums in the rock genre now have the same artwork on my iPod. However on my iTunes, the album artwork is correct for each bands individual album and there is only one album cover in each songs information file. How did this happen? This is the first time this has ever happened. There are even a couple of random albums I bought on iTunes where the album cover art was placed on some bands album art which have not been changed in a year, but on iTunes the correct album cover is the one shown on my computer screen. Am I making any sense? Can you guys help me??

  • Where did this LimeWire source come from?

I opened iTunes and see "[name] LimeWire Tunes". The name is the email address of a co-worker. 40 songs are displayed and I can listen to them.
Does anyone know why this shows up in iTunes and why it would be in mine? I asked the co-worker and she said she has never logged on to my computer... but she has used LimeWire.
    Any ideas?

You're probably seeing the shared iTunes library from other computer on your local network. Go into the iTunes Sharing preference and turn off "look for shared music". If you don't want to similarly be sharing your iTunes library with other computers, make sure that the "Share My Music" option is unchecked.
And tell her the same thing: sharing tracks she acquired from Limewire could be a very risky thing to do on a corporate network. Most companies take a very dim view about downloading tracks from Limewire (or other peer-to-peer networks) since most such tracks are pirated.

  • Where did this overage charge come from?

Looked at my upcoming bill and noticed there's a data overage charge of $15 on it when I wasn't close to going over my limit... I went to my bill on the VZW website and it shows a 3.18MB "Megabytes" usage.
The only time I update/download apps is when I'm at home and connected to my WiFi and I monitor my data usage very closely when I am not home so I'm not sure where this extra data is coming from.
Is anyone able to tell me where this is coming from? I'd like to avoid phantom charges.

it is not uncommon for usage that hit another companies tower to be billed on the next month billing or even the month after but in most cases it will (or should)  also list the dates the services were accessed from the tower.. so for an example.. in December I was traveling in Canada from the States.. I most likely would not see direct charges on my billing ..example roaming and data charges... until the Canada cell tower operators bills my carrier.. hence Verizon for the usage there.. the main delay in due to the usage NOT being that companies customer and they have to trace the service back to the correct carrier...

  • Where did this /weird directory come from?

    Hello.
I just found an empty directory
    /weird
created and owned by root. I didn't create it and I'm the only person using this computer. Err, should I be concerned by this?

(As per Snowmans tip - big pat on the belly to you Mr Snowman) According to the pacman log and the directory creation date, the offender in this case was the malevolent mono-tools.
Also gettext-mono and autopano-sift PKGBUILDs both contain the line ( mkdir -p $startdir/pkg/weird ) as well.

  • Where Did This Router Address Come From? Can A Connected Machine Use This?

My primary G4 uses a dialup modem. I have it logged in now, and in System Preferences -> Network -> Internal Modem, I see an IP number in the Router field. On Internet Connect, it says "Connected to [this IP number] at 48000 bps". Is this the address of my ISP's DHCP server?
Under the Internal Modem in the Network list, I have Built-In Ethernet, set manually to 10.0.1.1 . I have another G4 now connected with a crossover cable, set to 10.0.1.2 . Is it possible for 10.0.1.2 to get to this router IP number through 10.0.1.1? Does Appletalk have to be active? Am I crazy for trying to do this without a router here in the house?

On a dialup connection the chances are you're using PPP, in which case the 'connected to' number is the ISP's PPP server.
As for sharing the connection with the other G4 over the ethernet link, sure. Just select System Preferences -> Sharing -> Internet and you can share the dial up connection with clients on the ethernet network.

There is something on your iPhone (a music file, iBook, document or video) that belongs to another Apple ID.  Only your wife would know how that file arrived there.  Your iPhone is asking for the correct Apple ID for all of the files that are resident on the iPhone.

  • Where did all these calendars come from??

    Hello,
This is now my second post!
I have a Blackberry Storm, and when I sync'd my personal laptop (calendar, contacts, notes etc) I have suddenly noticed that the appointments are duplicated on my Blackberry - but in different colours!
I then found that I could select which calendar I was to disply - and when I select just one of them things are OK, but when I select all, I see the duplicate appointments again!
    So, my questions are this:
Firstly, Although I have three email accounts set up in Outlook - I only use one calendar - so where did the other two come from?
Also, how can I delete ALL calendar entries and start again?
    Thanks
    Paul

Thanks to liaoyunhe we found "fast" the origin of our problem.
The problem is itself related to the usage of Microsoft's JDBC driver for SQL 2000 service pack 3 (why to use M$-$QL on java?).
We currently use the same code with Postgres and also with JTDS drivers and there is no such problem.
What liaoyunhe says is absolutely true: you have to close ALL resultsets and ALL statements so there is no problem with the srt scb files.
We were stressing the application and after a while we got an "Too many files open" exception and we were able to count 39.000 srt+scb files with lsof.
After carefully reviewing our code, we found that we were not closing one resultset on a connection we re-use and the tmps were created and not released.
    Thanks again liaoyunhe.
Thanks Micro$oft for giving us some extra work :-)

  • Where did the phantom volume come from?

I have an internal hard drive that is divided into two partitions, on one partition is OS 9 (Macintosh HD) the other is X–Tiger (Macintosh X). A new, grayed out, unmounted hard drive/volume (Named Macintosh HD) seems to have appeared out of nowhere. When I select it in Disk Utility, it says that it's an HFS volume and it's unmounted using about 128 mb of space. It's as if another partition (3rd) tagged onto the original two.
Where did it come from? Can I get rid of it?
    TIA
    Geoff

    Hi, Geoff -
It sounds like the HFS wrapper may have become sort of visible. There's a bit of info about the wrapper in this article -
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=31056
Whether that indicates a problem, I don't know - but I would obtain and run Alsoft's DiskWarrior, which does have the ability to repair damage to an HFS wrapper.

  • Where did my DNS name come from?

    Hey everyone,
Weird issue, I installed leopard server on my G5 last week and I believe I had it connected directly into my DSL modem at the time or no network connection at all. It asked me to name the computer so I called it darwin, then it said dns or hostname I forget which so I made it darwin.invution.
When complete, it would show darwin.invution as my dns. So on the server I could go to http://darwin.invution/webmail for example and it would work fine.
I had converted from standard to advance while playing around and some settings were messed up. After having a better understanding of server, I formatted and reinstalled to start from scratch.
This time however, I had my Linksys router connected to my dsl modem and my server connected to it. When I installed server, it asked for a computer name, but dns was already filled in as bltnij2a.canada.hp.com which makes no sense. It wouldn't let me change it.
Now under server admin, it shows computer name darwin, and connect to server is darwin.local but DNS is bltnij2a.canada.hp.com.
If I open web server, it goes to http://bltnij2a.canada.hp.com and loads my server. Where on earth did canada.hp.com come from? Network settings doesn't show it at all, it shows my DNS server as my routers IP address. Confused??

Use a static IP address on your LAN, and don't use DHCP for your server, and don't use an address in 192.168.0.0/16 or so, and don't use a domain you don't own. I tend to prefer to avoid making up a domain given how ICANN is now passing out new top-level domains, preferring to use something I've registered. And use of subnets outside of 192.168.0.0/16 or 192.168.0.0/24 or 192.168.1.0/24 as that makes future use of VPNs and VPN-based IP routing easier; such as a /24 subnet somewhere within 10.0.0.0/8 or 172.16.0.0/12 or such.
As for the domain to use, I tend to use foo.example.com or example.net, assuming I own example.com or example.net. If you're running with invution.com as it appears, I'd tend to use internal.invution.com or invution.net (both of which you appear to own) for hosts inside the firewall and particularly that have a NAT'd IP address. Which means darwin.internal.invution.com or darwin.invution.net, for instance.
As for your question: What is your Linksys set to here? Specifically check the widget to see what its network and DNS settings are. Also confirm that your server's DNS setting is valid (check the settings on the network panel in Server Admin or such or by accessing the server directly and launching Preferences and then the Network panel, and checking the active network controllers for the DNS settings), or that your router is providing valid DNS forwarding.
Who is running your DNS? If you have that launched and running a DNS server locally, then you're going to need a careful look at that.
Some of common consumer-grade network boxes have widely-known and very serious vulnerabilities (eg: the Linksys WRT54G wireless router firmware v1.00.9 and earlier, reportedly), and some recent malware attacks have specifically involved jamming DNS settings into various devices.
Aim a shell-level dig command and a whois at this, and see if you can sort out where the particular DNS translation is arising. And determine if your DNS settings are correct on (all of) your devices.
Some of your other questions indicate use of VPNs. Is there one in place here? VPN routing can involve the use of specific DNS servers.
