Where do email attachments go after they are saved?

I tap the pic attached to the email and "save" appears. I tap "save" and enter a filename, and then "ok."
So...where is the picture now?
I've looked in the pictures folder, and all through file manager, and re-started the playbook and repeated all of these steps, still no pic. It's just a basic jpg.
What's going on?

When saving. A picture make sure it has .Jpeg as an extension.

Missing Read Emails in Inbox after they are a few days old?

I recently hooked up my AOL IMAP email account to work with Apple Mail. I think i set it up properly as it seems to have been working fine sending & receiving for the past week. However I am now noticing now that the read emails left in my inbox to follow up on are in fact disappearing from the inbox & the entire email application after they are aprox. 2-3 days old. Is there a way to stop that from happening?

An AOL email account must be created as an IMAP type account with the Mail.app or with any other email client such as the Mail.app.
An IMAP type account's Inbox mailbox in Mail and with other email clients is synchronized with the server. There is no setting in Mail to automatically remove messages from the server for the Inbox mailbox for an IMAP type account.
This is done by AOL. You can check with AOL but I don't believe there is an available setting at the server to prevent this from occurring when accessing the account with an email client such as the Mail.app.
To avoid this, create and utilize a user created "On My Mac" location mailbox or mailboxes which are stored locally on the hard drive. When moving a received message from the Inbox mailbox for an IMAP type account to a user created "On My Mac" location mailbox, the transferred message is stored locally on the hard drive and is also removed from the server at the same time.
This will prevent losing any received messages before AOL automatically purges the account's Inbox mailbox at the server after a designated period of time.

Where do CardDAV details appear after they are entered?

I used the System Preferences | Mail etc to enter CardDAV details for my google contacts, however when the details were not listed in the Accounts screen (there is an entry for the gmail account including email and calendar, but contacts are not included as an option and the CardDav account is not separately listed), I thought I must not have entered correctly and reentered them. Now the contacts appear to be syncing twice... I need to find the place on the Mac Air where I can edit (delete) CardDav accounts (at least one of the entries!).
Any help gratefully received.

You can sync contacts in your address book with your Google Contacts. If you sync your address book with multiple Mac computers, use just one of those computers to sync with Google Contacts. You can’t sync contacts from a CardDAV, Exchange, or Yahoo! account with Google Contacts.
Important: If syncing with Google Contacts is turned on when you add an iCloud account, the syncing option is turned off. It’s recommended to keep it turned off while you’re using the iCloud Contacts service.
Choose Address Book > Preferences, click Accounts, choose On My Mac in your list of accounts, and then click Account Information.
Select the “Synchronize with Google” checkbox.
Read the advisory information and then click Agree to continue.
Enter your Google account name (such as [email protected] or, for Google Apps customers, [email protected]) and password, and then click OK.
You can sync only one Google account.
When the account name and password you entered are confirmed, the dialog disappears. You can close Address Book preferences now if you want. Contacts will be synced automatically at a regular interval.

Try going to ''Tools > Options > General''. This menu will show you where the default download location is on your computer. You can change that location if you like. You can also hit ''CTRL + J'' to bring up the downloads menu. You can double click on an image to open it or you can right click and choose ''Open containing folder'' to take you to the download folder.

Thinkpad Ultranav - unable to edit Word 2007 docs after they are saved

Laptop: X300
Office 2007
Alps Ultranav; Driver 5.0.1.28 (Alps Electric Co.)
I had a clean installation done after a Windows update corrupted some system files. So I am now running Windows 7 and have downloaded my Thinkpad drivers from the Lenovo download site. However, I have encountered a problem when using Word (Office 2007) - I do not have full functionality when using my touch pad.
I can edit docs in Word using my touch pad but when I save them (to Word 2003 compatabile documents) I cannot highlight, copy or paste any text within the document using either my touch pad or the track pointer. I can use the touch pad to move the cursor around and to scroll down using the bar on the right hand side but I cannot edit. I can edit using the arrow keys in the very same document.
I have checked Word to see if there are any restrictions under Permissions but there are not and I don't think I'm saving the docs as read-only or anything like that.
Does this sound like a conflict between the touchpad driver and Word 2007 or is there is something in Word that I need to change?
NB I've checked that I've got the latest Ultranav driver- see reference above

Solved! I did some more digging and found this:

The Lenovo ThinkPad Password Vault program has a bug which causes this MS Word 2007 and Outlook 2007 issue. It is easily resolved by changing the Password Vault Preference for Enable hot keys to NOT SELECTED. "

So, I unchecked the Enabled Hot Keys box in Password Vault and, after re-booting, the problem has gone. Phew. Thanks for the suggestion again.

How to Rename Pictures after they are Saved

Could not find out how to do this, but discovered it can be done by going to File Manager. But first you must know the current name of the picture and I cannot see how to find the name while viewing the picture. Any way to do this?

Perhaps you should set your FileManager to show thumbnails, same as you'd see in your Pictures folder.
That's what I've done and I don't have to search filenames.

Receiving emails HOURS after they are sent

I just spend an hour trying to find a way to contact Verizon online. Calling them is a nightmare. I am ready to find another carrier!!! My emails are not getting to me until HOURS after they are sent. I communicate with someone during the day via email and it is CRUCIAL that i get my emails in a timely fashion. I waited for a very important email from this person yesterday at 3:55pm. He did email me back at that time, but I didn't receive it until 9:20 pm!!! This is unacceptable! VERIZON...please help or you are going to lose this customer...and why oh why do you make it impossible to contact you!??!?!

Once it searches for photos containing (insert name) and says "(insert name) maybe found in 1,750 photos". I click to confirm the said person and it highlights the photos already found in that persons "folder", which already contains 662 photos AND it does not show any of the unconfirmed photos. However, it told me that it found 1,750 photos....where are the missing unconfirmed pictures for me to tag? I have already rebuilt my thumbnails (which already took 3 days to do as I have MANY photos).

It was because the problem was major. If you do not know tech, you should know that a two day outage usually indicates some type of virus, hack, or a bad software load that they had to unravel. The common way to solve that is to rebuild servers and put back into service. That takes time.
Apple did not want to admit this problem. My guess at this stange was that they loaded new software that might be associated with the new IOS and it crashed. To reveal this would be to cast into doubt their future revenue.
Either way. Run do not walk away from Icloud products and services. Apple has demonstrated they can not be a business partner.

Why are my photos and videos syncing sideways in my computer? When I email or sync photos they are sideways. I've called apple and they are no help. I can fix the pictures, but the videos are a different story. Please help. I have an HP comp Win 7

My pictures and videos are shown correctly in my phone and when I play videos in itunes they are upright, but the location they are saved on my computer they are side ways. There has got to be a setting somewhere to fix this. Please help.

Generally I would not use Facebook for sharing any photos, it compresses the photos substantially, and when you have shadows and dark colours you get visible "bands" where there should be subtle gradients, ie at sunsets and sunrises.
It sounds like you are using two methods to upload to Facebook:
1. Sharing from within Aperture, which basically syncs Facebook with your Aperture album, so any changes made at either end gets synced, hence the deletions from Albums, although the original file should still be in your library, just removed rom the album. It is like a playlist in iTunes.
2. Exporting pics and uploading to Facebook from the browser.
I am not sure how method 1 gets compressed, but I know that uploading hi-res jpegs to Facebook using method 2 results in poor quality images.
I wouldn't even bother comparing option 1 or 2, and they will both be poor images once you view them on Facebook, as opposed to viewing uploaded images on proper image sharing / hosting sites.
Your problem is not with Aperture, it is using Facebook for showing your work.
If you export pics form Aperture at high res jpegs or TIFFs your images will be fine.
If you insist to use Facebook as your way to share your work, then your workflow should be this:
1. Right click images you want to share.
2. Select Export version.
3. Export as 100% size and ensure the export settings are set at 100% quality.
4. Upload this pic into Facebook.
This will get you the best image size and resolution on Facebook.

Yes. To back up your photos, save them to your computer while they were in the camera roll, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083. You will get an option to delete them from your device after they are imported.
If you have photo stream photos that you need to back up, save them from your my photo stream album to your camera roll. Then they can be imported too.

It depends upon which device you rented them on where they will show up. If you rented them on an iPad for example they should appear in your video app, on the computer they will appear in the iTunes application.
Rentals made recently, may not show immediately in your purchase history, sometimes they can take a few hours or even a day or two.

Covert file types After they are in library?

I imported a couple audiophile gradeCD's and went completely loss-less. File sizes are massive of course, so now I want to convert them to 256k apple loss-less files.
How do I do this After they are already in iTunes?
I checked every menu apple offers, I can't find any way to change the file type unless I delete the files and put them back on the hard drive using the file type I want.
I'm no mac pro yet, only switched solely to mac less than 2 months ago. Help?

Just change your Import setting to whatever format you want to convert them to and select the option to Convert selection to xxxx. This used to be available by right-clicking the track, but I believe it is now under the Advanced menu (within the main iTunes interface).
This will create a second file in the new format; you can then trash the huge file.
