I recently replaced my hardrive because mine stopped working. Now I have found that somewhere along the line over the past 4-5 years I've lost the install disks for my powerbook. I was wondering how I could get my laptop back up and running by maybe downloading software from somewhere? I'm not super savy on computers, but I was told that I would be able to download the software from a site and then be able to start up and install the operating system from my imac. Is this correct, and if yes then how?

The new HDD needs to be formatted first. Here are step-by-step directions to get your there:
Formatting, Partitioning Erasing a Hard Disk Drive
Warning! This procedure will destroy all data on your Hard Disk Drive. Be sure you have an up-to-date, tested backup of at least your Users folder and any third party applications you do not want to re-install before attempting this procedure.
• Boot from the install CD holding down the "C" key.
• Select language
• Go to the Utilities menu (Tiger) Installer menu (Panther & earlier) and launch Disk Utility.
• Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left side bar.
• Select Partition tab in main panel. (You are about to create a single partition volume.)
• Select number of partition in pull-down menu above Volume diagram.
(Note 1: One partition is normally preferable for an internal HDD.)
• Type in name in Name field (usually Macintosh HD)
• Select Volume Format as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
• Click Partition button at bottom of panel.
• Select Erase tab
• Select the sub-volume (indented) under Manufacturer ID (usually Macintosh HD).
• Check to be sure your Volume Name and Volume Format are correct.
• Click Erase button
• Quit Disk Utility.Open installer and begin installation process.
Installation Process
• Open Installer and begin installation.
• Choose to Customize and deselect Foreign Language Translations and Additional Printer drivers.
• (Optional) Check box to install X11 (Tiger) BSD Subsystems (Panther & earlier).
• Proceed with installation.
After installation computer will restart for setup.
• After setup, reboot computer.
• Go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.
• Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left side bar.
• Select First Aid in main panel.
• Click Repair Disk Permissions.
• Connect to Internet.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo update (PPC) (Tiger)
Computer will restart.
• Repair Disk Permissions as previously.
• Go to Apple Menu > Software Update.
• Install all updates.
Computer may restart after updates.
• Go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.
• Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left side bar.
• Select First Aid in main panel.
• Click Repair Disk Permissions.

Does anyone know where in the UK or Ireland I can get a replacement keyboard for my imac G5 power PC purchased in December 2005. Running Mac OSX 10.4.1.1?

Not sure where in Ireland to look, but be aware that SOME Apple Aluminum boards will work with 10.4.11. The first Al boards and those through the first few months of 2011 were compatible with any Mac running OS 10.4.11 and having USB ports. Then they changed them to require 10.6.8 for full function.
The ones compatible with 10.4.11 (MB110LL/A) have the icon for Dashboard on the F4 key; the later ones (MB110LL/B) have an icon consisting of six tiny rectangles grouped to form a larger rectangle. The keyboard boxes are nearly identical except for:
the system requirements printed on the front panel
the back panel on the first model reads "Keyboard" where the newer model reads "Keyboard with Numeric Keypad."

I seemed the misplaced my discs for my macbook early 2008 unibody (silver), i just got a new hd after my old one died and need to install the OS obviously. I was wondering where i would be able to acquire some discs? I have got my sisters discs from her macbook pro from late 2011, the OS version is 10.6.3 but they dont seem to want to install, i get an error before i can begin the install that says something along the lines of "not able to install this software on this macbook".
Would i be able to buy the OSX snow lepoard disc from the apple website?and would that work perfectly or?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Where can I get the Boot Disk for my macbook pro? Downloading OSX Lion is taking too long

I got a macbook pro that was owned by someone for a few days before. I tried to restore to factory setting but now downloading OSX Lion is taking forever with my internet connection. Can anyone help me find a boot Disk to speed up the process?

Apple no longer sells a Lion installation USB flash drive (they did at one time). SO you'll just have to wait for the download to complete. It's best to 'hard-wire' the download - not over wifi but with an Ethernet cable connected directly to your router. That will gain you some speed.
You could also try taking your MBP to a friend's home where they may have a faster Internet service. My download speed is 22+Mbps with my cable company - you may have a friend or neighbor who has something similar? Of course, you are always at the mercy of Apple's servers - sometimes they're just overloaded and a download that should take 20 minutes can take up to an hour and one-half.

That depends on the operating system you have installed and the CPU\chipset your notebook has. To install the proper drivers, you will have to identify the devices that the notebook has on your own.. I certainly can't do that from afar. That is the downside of buying a notebook without an operating system. You will have to do the legwork, but we will try to guide you.

Where can I get an install file for foxfire 5

I will not be able to use foxfire 6 on my laptop computer at work due to what we suspect is a security software (either Endpoint or Landesk). I have a computer that has been updated to 6, but six never even opens. It crashes every tie I start it asking my to send a report to Mozilla (I allow it). How can I fall back to foxfire 5? Thank you.

1. There is no download available for PSE5. The oldest version available is 7.
2. If you mean you are wondering if the software is compatible with Windows 8, I would tend to think not. Rather than buying an external drive you could consider buying the latest version of PSE instead.

Unfortunately, it will not. The "Common Media" is just the components common to many model bundles, but does not contain the complete OS & will not install it.

Did you purchase Mavericks prior to the release of Yosemite? If so open the App Store, click on the Purchases icon the toolbar. Locate your Mavericks purchase entry. Try to re-download it.

My hard drive is having some problems. It is working but my paging file is not working. Once my ram is used up my system starts having resourse problems. I have ordered a replacement hard drive. I will try to reimage my hard drive but I am afraid it won't reimage properly and will have to reinstall XP professional. Where do I get the original operating system software? My original license information on the bottom of my Lenovo 3000 V100 have rubbed off. Maybe because it's not a 'genuine' retail version? Many OEM versions just don't work - and I've no idea which flavor of Win7 your friend downloaded. Obviously one that Boot Camp doesn't recognize. Best to just pony up the cash for a full retail version, of some flavor - and use it. You COULD, of course, download the 14-day trial version of Parallels Desktop and see if you can install Win7 as a virtual machine... it might or might not work. Boot Camp just isn't finding the resources it needs on the copy you have - try Parallels and if that doesn't work just purchase a retail (or student discounted) version.

As Niel said, you have to install OS X through OS X Recovery. Respecting to iLife, if your Mac came with DVDs, you should have it on the Applications DVD that came with the Mac, and if it didn't come with DVDs, open App Store > Purchases, and install iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand.
Then, if you want, you can download OS X from the App Store instead of using Recovery, so you can burn the installer onto a DVD or USB drive with Lion Diskmaker, so you won't have to redownload OS X each time you want to reinstall. As you have a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro, it will only work if it came with OS X Lion and you upgraded to Mountain Lion
