Where do previews go when deleted

When I upgraded to 1.5 I had aperture make previews of my library of about 12000 images. The size of my library jumped and I decided I did not want the previews after I learned I had little use for them (slideshows were fast enough on dual processor G5 and all my images are on one drive). I have selected all the images and hit the delete preview key. It looks like it is deleting them except my library never gets smaller and the deleted previews do not appear in the trash. I unchecked the maintain previews thing and turned off previews in preferences. What is up? DId my library get bigger (storage wise) for another reason. If my previews are gone why does the delete previews not go gray?

I'm having the same issue. I've deleted previews several times... it rebuilds the database each time upon closing Aperture.
In the Aperture Library.aplibrary file, it is still over 8gb and it appears each of the six projects in there are the parts of that sum total... about 1gb- 2 gb each. This just doesn't make sense.
I have one project were the folder location containing the files is just over 6gb, the Project file in the Aperture Library.aplibrary file, is 1.5gb -
As I said, makes no sense at all.

Second, I work on a network of computers and the search feature is now buggy... When I search for a file, A) it asks me if it's a name, or it wont produce anything, and B), its slower than in prior OS versions and in some instances I have to toggle to a different directory and go back to my original directory in the search: menu bar or the search wont produce anything... Very buggy.

It appears to me that network file access is buggy in Maverick.
In my case I have a USB Drive attached to airport extreme (new model) and when I open folders on that drive they all appear empty. If I right click and I select get info after a few minutes! I get a list of the content.
It makes impossible navigate a directory tree.
File access has been trashed in Maverick.
They have improved (read broken) Finder. I need to manage a way to downgrade to Lion again.

Make sure you are following these steps to delete the music from both your iPad and computer:
On the iPad:
Before you delete, find out if you'll be able to download the song you deleted again (it depends on where you live). To delete a song:
Tap the Music app.
Tap the Songs category.
Swipe left to right over the song you want to delete.
Tap Delete.
On your computer:
Before you delete, find out if you'll be able to download the song you deleted again (it depends on where you live). To delete a song:
Launch iTunes.
From the Library pop-up menu, choose Music.
Click Songs in the navigation bar.
Click the song you want to delete.
Press the Delete key on your keyboard.
In iTunes 11, the album cover art will remain visible, but a cloud icon will appear on it to allow you to download the item again (in countries that support this).
Note: If you didn't purchase a song from the iTunes Store, you won't be able to download it again for free from iTunes in the Cloud. You might want to back it up somewhere on your computer.

What are you asking? Where music is stored or where the user accounts were stored?
Music should be in the music folder - perhaps inside of an iTunes folder.
User accounts should be on the home directory.

The file is just left where it was when it was connected to the library. Typically:
<User>/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/<Artist>/<Album>/## <Name>.<Ext>
If you want to add it back just drag it into iTunes. If you want to cull the files you kept previously add the entire iTunes Media folder back into iTunes (or use one of Doug's scripts that has the same effect), then delete (and don't keep) the recent additions.
Note that warning/prompt is only issued when the files you are removing are located inside the designated iTunes Media folder.

How can I stop the mail app from moving to the next message when deleting an email?
I like to keep messages as new until I can take action on them, but this just makes an unnecessary step. I do not have this problem on my iPhone, but I am still running 5.0.1 on the phone and have the new iPad 5.1 software.

With regards to deleting messages in Mail, you may find the following portion of the following article helpful:
To prevent the next message from being automatically selected (and marked as read), hold down the Option key when you delete a message.

You can also use Command-Shift-U to toggle a message between Read and Unread (command should be the same in Mavericks):

You can also close the Preview portion of the Mail window, which should then require you to double-click on a message to open it and have it show as read (it appears the double click on the seperator may no longer work in Mavericks, but you should still be able to drag it to make it disappear):

When deleting iCloud account, how can I save the photo's & other apps etc that are stored in iCloud?

I have recently changed my Apple ID as my email address has changed & also changed my password.
I posted a question yesterday about this & have since discovered from further searching here, that I need to delete and set up a new iCloud account as my iPad keeps asking me to login in with my Apple ID showing my old email address (& doesn't accept old (or new) password). Also, naturally, I can't back up with iCloud.
When I go to delete iCloud account a message appears that my photo stream (& presumably other stored apps etc?) will be deleted/ lost from my iPad too. I currently have no access to any other computer (when return home I have a windows lap top only). I am therefore very reluctant to delete my account in fear of loosing my photo's in particular.
Can any one help with the above please? Would all my stored data (phot's, apps etc) actually be deleted from my iPad when deleting my iCloud account? If so how else can I save (later restore?) my iCloud stored data?

I do appreciate your, obviously experienced, help.
When I went to change my details in the mail settings as you suggested, I was unable to do so. Yes- I could & did add my new email details that I changed to in my Apple ID. however I was unable to change the primary email & therefore iCloud still wouldn't recognise my new Apple ID & kept asking for my details under my old/ original email address.
Though I did search further after this in the iCloud web site & found further very similar questions to mine where users were successful by deleting the iCloud account.
So I went ahead & did this. As soon as I had deleted the account it asked me to login to iCloud with my new email address in my Apple ID which worked fine - & I have also retained all my data.
Again, I appreciate your help & time you spent in reading and answering my need for help.

Why won't preview let me delete all files (instead of all but one)

In all OSX versions up to snow leopard in preview there was the option to select all open items and move the files to the trash. For some reason unknown to me, in 10.8.5 mountain lion that option no longer exists. Now preview lets me delete all files except one. If you have 2 images open you can move 1 to the trash. If you have 99 open you can move 98 to trash and if you have 1 open, you cannot move it to trash. Is there some code available where I can undo this restriction?

Do you also have them on another computer, iPad or iPhone, IF you do then it may be syncing them back

Error When Deleting From A Trigger

When I use a trigger to delete from my Oracle Spatial table, the triggering delete statement will fail if the Oracle Spatial table has a spatial index.
Details:
Tables CHEV_WELLBORE and CHEV_WELLBORE_SDO need to stay in sync. CHEV_WELLBORE_SDO has an sdo geometry column plus foreign keys to join back to CHEV_WELLBORE. When you delete from CHEV_WELLBORE, my trigger is supposed to delete the related row from CHEV_WELLBORE_SDO. When I execute the DELETE FROM CHEV_WELLBORE (one row), it processes for a minute or two then fails with an End Of Communications error. If I try the same thing without the spatial index on CHEV_WELLBORE_SDO it works fine. Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong here?

Does your DELETE key have an associated After-Process-Branch? Does you page have an "unconditional" Branch. Your unconditional one should have the highest sequence number (of all your branches).
If you have one assinged to the DELETE key, can you check to see what Page or URL is referenced withint that After-Process-Branch.

they show as in order by air date--on my ipod, they are random. Also, my shows are not

Lion Preview can't delete or insert pages to a PDF document

I have the following problem: I open a PDF file in preview. I delete some pages as I used to in snow leopard. Then I save it. The document's page count changes to the correct number in the window title bar. However, if I open the saved version after closing the current window I see that nothing is saved at all! The same thing happens when I try to insert pages to a PDF document. Looks like everything is fine, but when I close and reopen the document no changes are saved. The weird thing is file is modified, i.e. preview saves something but not my changes. It just re-saves the original document.

NUMACER's answer worked for me as well guys ! Didn't need to save a version, it just keeps it like that. I tried saving a version which saved on the same file instead of creating a new one (i know that since I saw the "Last modified" thing being updated at the same time) !

what version of iPHoto do you have? Of the OS? is the iPhoto icon you are speaking of in the Dock?

If you go to your Applications folder and double click on iPhoto what happen?

Slideshow not visible in preview or when published

I checked the site , header text shows up on page and the slideshow thumbnails also shows up, but the image on page does not shows up.
Tried to check and can see that image frame which is inserted in head section stretches down the page and thus overlaps with the image on page , try to lower down the size of image frame that is used in header section so that it does no overlaps with the hero image on page.

Preview freezes when trying to open images - other programs have no trouble with the same file. This problem is somewhat intermittent.
I have replaced the Preview application by moving a copy from another equivalent machine - no luck.
Did not find any preferences file trash, though I looked.
Is there one?
Any suggestions?

The .plist for Preview should be located @ ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Preview.plist (where "~" is your Home folder).
Trash the file, logout/login or reboot your computer and try opening the app and opening the offending file again.
Let us know if any luck with finding the .plist there and opening your file?
