Where do Software Updates get saved to

When I run Software Update, I get confirmation of  download, then the option to install. If I deselect the 'Install' button and defer installing, where is the download stored please?
I ask because I'd like to be able to collect the set of updates and then install them to a number of machines using Apple Remote Desktop.
Brian Bowell.

Stored in /Library/Updates/ Do note you have to rename them so you'll know what they refer to. Simpler is to just DL from http://support.apple.com/downloads/ which gives you uniquely install packages.

Where does the data get saved from (notepad) or Notes on Windows Mobile 5?
(ON the Phone)  Sticky note like program WM5
I ask because I synced my Blackjack 1 to my pc after about a year and MANY notes later, All the notes from the PC remained but ALL new notes on phone (a years worth) were deleted from the phone.
I would like to attempt a data recovery on my mobile device- that was an insane endeavor but i got it to work now i just need to know what to look for (what type of files to recover) and or where to recover from?
I did make the phone a drive already and have data recovery software that can pull deleted files from the phone in fat or raw data format.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I think this is not the best forum for your question. This forum is for Microsoft Exchange Server's mobile connectivity issues.

  • HT1430 where does the backup get saved on the windows computer?

whenever m tryin to backup my phone it starts and after consuming the space on the hard drive of computer it stops after the msg saying bakup could nt b saved on the computer.. so my question is where does the backup get saved on d computer  n how to access it n hw to clear the old backup history n free the space on the computer? help plz...

    WHERE ARE BACKUPS LOCATED
ITunes stores one active backup and each time a backup is created the old backup is overwritten.  Icloud saves the last three backups.  You cannot view the backups unless you have special software to read it.  If you want to know where the backups are located on your computer then read this article

You cannot update to iOS 5, it's no longer an available. You can only update to the latsest available iOS for your device. For the iPhone 4 that's iOS 6.0.1. The option you are looking for to update over-the-air requires iOS 5 or later. With iOS 4 you need to use iTunes on a Mac or PC to update the iOS. Follow the instructions on the Support Page you linked from.

  • Where are Software Updates stored in OS X Server 10.9?

I am trying to find out where the software update folder is in OS X Server, Mavericks and if it is safe to delete unwanted software updates to reduce the size of the cache when it is turned on.  This is for a school environemnt and any information or help in this regard would be greatly appreciated. [email protected]

IMHO, it's definitely not safe to delete random updates underneath Software Update Server.  SUS has had a history of flakies, and while I haven't seen any untoward behavior on Mavericks (yet?), I'd prefer to avoid encouraging intransigence.
Scrounge a bigger or external disk for the system or as an add-on, use the server settings (select the server in the left navigation in Server.app, select Settings, select a different location for Service Data) and if you're stuck on a budget then load and run Reposado on some bigger-capacity Linux box.
As for your question, look around with this command:
    ls -R /library/server/software\ update
But I wouldn't.  Disk hardware upgrades are cheap, and the fallout from potentially derailing software is expensive.

  • To where are Software Updater file downloaded?

I have a software package to update on two computers. The computers are the same and I need to update software on both computers. However, where I live we pay for each megabyte downloaded so I would like to update the first computer then copy the update file to the other. Where does the Software updater store the downloaded files so I can get the file after the first computer is updated?

Whew, took me an hour of searching Apple Downloads to +not find it+ via dial-up!
Then via Google through 4 other sites with clues & back to Apple for 4 more 5 minute steps at pages with links loading leads me to this...
    http://www.apple.com/finalcutexpress/index.html
The Resources link on that page leads e to...
    http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/download/
Where it doesn't mention "Express", but who knows since I don't have a Serial# to sign in with!
Back to *Software Update*, if you choose to "Download only" or possibly "Install & keep Package", the file should be at Library>Packages, but I'm not certain that some of Apple's SWUPDs allow even keeping the PKG.
PS. Even this AD BBS is the absolute slowest loading BBS on the whole internet!

  • When trying to use software update, get error NSURLErrorDomain error -1100

I don't know if this is a result of anything I did.  It started happening after I installed the latest version of Garageband.  When I went into that app, and selected one of the instruments, it directed me to use software update to get all the data for the instruments.  That's when I first got the message box.  Later, I uninstalled Garageband, and still the update problem continues.  Obviously, when this problem first occurs, it will have been after installing *some* app, so I have no way of knowing whether Garageband is involved.   I don't think I can update any of my applications until this problem is fixed.
The full text of the message box:
    An error has occurred
    The operation couldn't be completed.
    (NSURLErrorDomain error -1100.)

    Try this:
    Fix for Software Update
See Troubleshooting Automatic Software Update in Mac OS X.
    Delete the following files:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
/Home/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.xxx.plist where "xxx" is a number.
    /Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate/ (delete entire folder)

  • Where do Software Updates reside until they're installed?

A while back I enabled Software Update to "automatically download important software updates". So now the updates are of course downloaded and waiting for my OK to install them. I suspect though that many updates which I don't need or want are downloading and sitting somewhere pending installation. But I have no idea where these files are stored. I'd like to delete the stuff I'll never use (e.g., iMovie and RAW camera updates) as they are just taking up space. Anyone know where these things reside on the HD?
    Thanks for any help.

Thanks...this is interesting. I was in fact notified by Software Update. Upon opening it, it tells me I have updates available that have been downloaded and ready to be installed. I never noticed until just now, on checking again, that it actually says what's been downloaded. (I assume it notified me about the others and I just didn't notice.) I had about 6 notifications of updates available (as opposed to downloaded), and chose and installed the 2 I wanted, and excluded the other 4. When I look now, it tells me I have an iWeb update downloaded (I wish I knew how to include a screenshot in this post). It's not in the Downloads folder and a search in Spotlight and Finder does not reveal anything. It's gotta be somewhere, no? Also interesting is what Apple considers "important" updates

  • Where does CEBAN-USRC1 get saved?

    Hi there,
I hope you can help me I am currently doing a scenario involving ME51N (purchase requisition CREATE). I have been asked by the business analyst to populate field CEBAN-USRC1 with a specifc cost center in user exit EXIT_SAPLEBND_001.
That is fine, I have no problem populating that field CEBAN-USRC1 with the required value BUT where on earth is the value I enter actually get saved? I would maybe think in the account assignment somewhere....mmmm......Table EBAN has no "user fields"....and I have tried to debug but no luck yet. So to save me time I was wondering if any fellow ABAPer out there has ever wondered the same thing....?
I would really appreciate a push in the right direction
    Thanks in advane
    Regards
    Lynton

OK, I have read a bit more...in the purchase req release strategy config notes I read the following:
"The system assigns the values fromthe communication structure CEBAN to the characteristics of this class."
But I would still like to know where the data from CEBAN-USRC1 is actually stored....
    Thanks for the help

  • Where does a site get saved?

    Hi.
When we save a site on iWeb where does it exactly save them? this is one feature I wished iWeb would include in its Preferences settings so that we could at least find it easily or choose where we would prefer to save the site.
    Thanks for your comments.
    Farzad

First thanks to all those who assisted with this question. The reason i was looking to look inside the files was because I was going to add a counter to my page and could not find the html files. And secondly i hope others who are looking for the solution will benefit from my sharing of the information below.
    Here is how it works:
Depending on how the site is published - local folder or iDisk, we need to get to that saved location to find all the files that make the site work. in my case i was publishing to iDisk and thought when i execute a File/Save command that iWeb saves to my local drive somewher while I think, and I am not very sure, that it gets saved on iDisk or where the last publishing took place.
So this one of my issue has been solved. On with the cleaning of the gutters around the house now. It is full of leaves. Of course tomorrow when it is sunny again.

  • Software Update gets "NSURLErrorDomain error -1100"

I'm getting a long hang and then  "NSURLErrorDomain error -1100" in the Updates tab of the App Store.  This happens both when I select the tab from within the App Store, or from Software Update in the apple menu.
I don't think I have anything that needs updating at the moment, but obviously I'd like this problem fixed!

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select "/var/log/install.log" from the file list. Post the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, start over and note the time.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

  • Software Update getting wrong version?

I just took the latest security update via Software Update, and then went to http://search.info.apple.com/?search=Go&lr=lang_en&kword=&type=kbdload&q=Securit y%20Update%202006 to try and see whether it was made for the latest bugbear everyone's talking about.
Instead, I got sidetracked by noticing that the versions of Security Update 2006-001 including "Security Update 2006-001 (PPC)" for Tiger 10.4.5 and "Security Update 2006-001 (Panther Client)" for 10.3.9 which I have. Yet Software Update got me "Security Update 2006-001 (Power PC)."
Is Software Update often known to get the wrong version of something for the system it's run on? I notice it does keep offering me a Quick-Time component for QT6 when I have QT7. (MPEG 2 viewing component showing since I got DVD Studio Pro)
If it did get me the wrong security patch for my system, then what can I do to correct the situation?

Open the /Library/Receipts/ folder and look for the receipt created by the security update; if this is named SecUpd2006-001Pan.pkg with or without the .pkg, the correct updater has been installed on your system.

  • Where does captured footage get saved on my Mac?

Just wondering where any footage I capture gets saved.
And then how I go about deleting it once I've finished a project?

You are right, in most cases, FCP can be quite forgiving when assets go missing. When dealing with a couple clips, the impact is less than with larger projects, but if you are dealing with projects with more assets, having to go through every file in the project to figure out which file is mistakenly deleted/missing and which were intensionally deleted and can be ignored, can be time consuming. As well, using FCP to manage the assets can prevent other problems further down the line.
And you don't have to go searching all over your system trying to find the asset in Finder you are looking for, which may-or-may-not have the same name as the file name in the browser.
By using the built in FCP asset management process, you also eliminate the problem of figuring out missing assets FCP detects, that are not intentionally deleted, being confused with assets intentionally deleted via the Finder.
You can also just delete the render files from Finder, and the next time you launch FCP you will get thousands of missing render file messages. But, if you use render manager to delete the render files.
If you want to move/archive assets to free up disk space, then FCP also has an archiving function. It insures that you do not accidentally miss a needed asset for future editing of a project.
I look at this as driving a car without ever using a single light... You can do it, but you are going to get a few dings along the way, and may even total your car because a semi driver did not know you were going to cut in front of him.
You can do it, but It is just bad practice, especially in a professional environment, and by using FCP tools you don't have to worry about where the assets are physically located.
Besides, why would you go through the effort of right(cntl) clicking the asset in the FCP browser, selecting show in finder, selecting the file in finder, deleting the file in finder, and finally emptying the trash, to finally free up drive space, when you can just use one step in FCP browser to do the same? Granted, not a lot of time saved for one file, but going though a larger project would take a lot more time cleaning up a drive(s). 1 file or 1000 files in FCP browser is still only one step.
    Sorry, if I prattled on...

  • Software Update gets stuck

The last 2 times Software Update on my MacBook Air told me that updates are available, I proceeded with the installs and it hung.
    Both times
    - the software update required a restart before installing
    - got stuck at the screen that shows the default Leopard wallpaper and the timer
    - holding the power button to power off and then starting it again seems to do the trick
No a big deal, just a bit annoying. This does not happen on my macbook, just the macbook air.
    Anyone else experiencing this issue?

You know what... that website ALSO doesn't seem to finish loading. There is a dark graysish block with icons for all the different platforms and then there's a column of options on the left. But what seems to be the main part of the page on the lower right (when scrolled to the top) just shows a throbber / activity indicator and nothing happens.
I tried this on an entirely different internet connection, tethering with my iPhone and using 3G with an entirely different ISP. That connection is a few Mbps so I should expect faster response but still it takes forever. I gave up after 5 minutes not checking to see if the thing will actually load because expensive data use was building up on my iPhone while the throbber was displaying.
My Mac experience just keeps getting bumpier
