Single Sign-On with User ID and Password
Purpose
The Single Sign-On (SSO) mechanism with user name and password provides an alternative for applications that cannot accept and verify SAP logon tickets. With this SSO mechanism the Portal Server uses user mapping information provided by users or administrators to give the portal user access to external systems. The portal components connect to the external system with the users credentials.
As the user's user ID and password are sent across the network, you should use a secure protocol such as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for sending data.
Process Flow
There are different procedures depending on the requirements.
Single Sign-On to SAP Systems
You can access SAP Systems that do not support SAP logon tickets via Single Sign-On with user ID and password. These are SAP Systems with release 3.1I. For more information, see Configuring SSO with User ID and Password to SAP Systems.
Single Sign-On to non-SAP systems via a Java iView developed specifically for the customer
The system must be defined in the system landscape. For details, see Creating Systems.
The administrator or user must map user data to user data in the system. For more information, see User Mapping.
The iView through which the user tries to access the system must be programmed to get the mapped user data from the data repository and write the user credentials (user ID and password) in a header field of the request. The system can then log on the user with these credentials. This can be done using the Java APIs provided with SAP Enterprise Portal.

Where is the password for user SDM stored in sap system?

Hi SAP Gurus,
We recently changed the password of the user j2ee_admin in our dual stack system where our UME is ABAP.
Now, we have made changes in the su01 and configtool but after the system restart, the user id j2ee_admin is getting intermittently locked.
On starting the the JSPM/SDM, we found it still uses the old password so wanted to know that from where does the user SDM picks up the password and starts.
Searched few blogs and found that it reads from secstore of configtool. Could you please help.

Hi Himanshu,
SDM uses encrypted administrator credentials stored which are stored secure store to use deploy service.
If you have changed the password, updated in secure store and is correct, the you should be able to logon to VA.
If not, then
Goto /usr/sap/SID/DVEMBGSXX/SDM/program/config and open sdmrepository.sdc file to see the values of SecStore.properties and SecStore.Key are pointing to correct path. You can verify this from configtool or config.properties in configtool folder.
If you are not able to save this password in configtool, then refer 1228507 - Config Tool does not properly save password in Secure Store

Even if I'm not despertate, creating a new Id is good Idia. But I think I must create another email address also since I can't use the first email adress as an apple id for the new one. That means I should check everyday the new email address also, that is making life complex. Better to try the 1st solution. Thank you very much.

Why is my saved Facebook password not used when both "Permanent Private Browsing" and "Remember Passwords for Sites" are enabled?

After entering and saving my Facebook user name and password, the data is not used for subsequent entries into the application after the browser is reset. "Remember Passwords for Sites" is checked, but the data is only used if I do NOT have "Permanent Private Browsing enabled. Why does "Permanent Private Browsing" effect passwords? (Note: Facebook is NOT in the "Passwords / Exceptions..." list.)

I agree that password protection may be considered important by some for Private Browsing, however if that is the intention, then it would be one of the delineated items such as...remember browser history, remember download history, etc. that are check-listed under that function. Also, having a separate Passwords option implies that their functions are mutually exclusive and therefore should function independent of one another.

I can't type info in the boxes provided, te, Verizon site, username and passsword curser on nothing happeded. signed in on google thru Safari and it worked. Play FarmVille on Facebook and the post rewards and collections that you are suposed to personalize before you publish, but the same thing happens, curser on space and nothing will type. How do we fix this? I use a Mac and everything worked last week

On the whole it takes iChat and AIM 5.9 running in XP as AIM 6.x has had the Video codec changed by AIM and no longer works.

SECURITY ISSUE! Userid and password for email stored as raw text in dump file!

If you have set up email notifications, the dump for the ix2, possibly others as well, lists your email address, username, and password in readable text in the \procs\ps.out file. This is a blatent security violation and needs to be fixed immediately!

Interesting...I have not been able to duplicate the issue. I have reconfigured email notifications multiple times and collected a dump and do not see the info in the ps.out log. However, it was in the very first dump I collected off of the ix2. Here is a screenshot of what was in there...I have of course blacked out secure info.
Its possible that the smtpsend process was hung and thats why it showed up in this log. I also tried to duplicate this by unchecking/checking the send email notification box and clicking apply multiple times while a dump was being generated. I no longer see what I saw before...I suppose it was a fluke, but this really should be looked into.

How do I edit the password for a website stored in Keychain?

I have an issue. Safari is capturing the wrong password when it saves the password to Keychain. There is no way for me to change or edit the password. Every time I try entering the correct password and login, I get a prompt asking me to upgrade the information stored in keychain. Whenever I click on accept, it store the wrong password.
Issue is after I click on Submit, the website replaces the password with a hash code. Safari is capturing the hash code.
Is there a way to EDIT the stored password? I guess Apple programmers never thought about that right?
My only other option right now is to forget about Keychain and buy Lastpass Premium for all my iPads.

There isn't a way to edit the stored password on your iOS device at this time.
However, if your keychain is synced to a Mac running Mavericks (10.9.x) or Yosemite (10.10), you can edit the password using the Keychain Access app, and the edited password will sync back over to your iOS device(s).

WHAT IS THE QUICKEST WAY to find where my media cache files for PrPro are stored on my computer?

I'd like to delete them.
Do I run any risks by deleting everything in that folder, WHEREVER it may be, now?

When I go there and try to empty the cache, the application freezes.
So I wanted to delete them manually, by hand, but cannot readily find them anywhere on my computer.

No, apps don't store usernames/passwords on the device, it would be too much of a security risk.

Changing DB username and Password for APEX

Hello Guys:
My APEX application is currently connected to the Main database, and now the business decided they want a user to be created with the main database only for APEX.
My main database is called ARRA, and user within the ARRA schema called ARRAAPEX was created given a diffrent username and password.
I see in the Administrative services I can only tell it to which schema to connect to, but where do I specify the username and password for the database user to be used by APEX?

Thank You for your reply Roel. What I meant to say is Logging to the ARRA schema using the username and password associated with ARRAAPEX would allow me to see the Date last edited field that has been added to the ARRAAPEX. ANd I am not able to see that at this moment becuase I am logging to to ARRA using the ARRA username and password.
When we setup a workspace and then associate a schema with that workspace, where do I specify the username and password that the workspace should use to access the schema? Or if a username and a password are not needed then how does the workspace access the schema?

IF you don't want to Remember Passwords anymore,
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Security -> Remove Checkmark from '''Remember Passwords for sites''' -> click OK

Ver 28 Problem saving password for a site

I have been trying to get FFox to save the password to a site and it is failing. I enter userID, password, have the save password checked and click login. Does not work.
I went to another site and tried it. It popped up an additional window asking me if I wanted to save the info. That one works just fine. This window did not popup on the failed site.
I checked the passwords that were saved. There were about 5(so it has been working). I accidentally clicked remove all, so woops on that. NP. Just start over. I have checked the options security is set properly (remember passwords for sites). I am not in a private browsing session. I can save cookies. I checked the exceptions. None. I don't have any additional password manager tools added. The only thing I have added to the original install was a theme. I just did that today, so the problem was before that. Now the password manager has the item that I just the one that I added.
So, it is working, just not for this site. And there is NOT an exception entered in the exceptions list.
That does raise one question/suggestion. In the password manager, add the ability to make a new entry. That would probably get by my problem

The site I am using is www.sccrow.com. I created a userid guest and pw guestpw if anyone wants it to test. Its a site that is being built, so the content is nothing close to finished.
Oh yes. It isn't an issue caused by the site. It works in IE.

The form uses autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving form data like name and password, but in this case the form is in an iframe and the version of the bookmarklet on the squarefree.com site doesn't handle this case.
The version on the mozillaZine knowledge base size for iframes works (listed as the second bookmarklet), so you can use that version or use Inspect Element in the right-click context menu and change the autocomplete="off" to autocomplete="on" in both fields.
You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox store form data like names and passwords.

Note that Firefox won't auto-fill saved form data automatically when autocomplete=off is used, so you need to double-click the empty name field to get a drop-down list.
