  • Where is Sent mail stored in POP account?

    OK;
I should know this and Wikipedia doesn't explain it, but in using Mail under a POP account where "leave mail on server for x time " is selected, are both the incoming and outgoing mail saved on server or only the incoming? I ask because I am trying to restore a POP account using a TM backup that is a few days old. I know the incoming mail will be there for the time since the backup because I checked "leave on server", but will the Sent mail be there also?

  • Where is sent mail after 10.9 update?

My wife just updated to 10.9 and all her sent mail is gone. Where did it go or how do we retrieve it?

With Mail open enter your backup and when you get to a place which has the Sent mailbox, restore it.
I read a link in another discussion (from MacRumors) that Apple is aware of the many problems people are having with Mail and is working on a fix.

  • "save sent  mail on server" does not work

    Hello,
When I send a Mail by MAIL via my IMAP account MAIL failed to save the sent mail on the server. However I can see the folder where usually sent mails are stored I have send by web mail. In the preferences I positively checked the "save mail on server" box and chose to store sent mails forever
I also cannot save email drafts. I get always an error message that the mail cannot be saved.
I have a similar issue that deleted mails are not moved to the "trash" folder of my mail account.
    Thanks & Regards, Joe

That command is mentioned in the “Renaming, moving, or deleting a mailbox” article, for example, but you wouldn’t find it searching for a solution to your problem in Mail Help amongst other reasons because it’s not a solution, it’s a workaround. Doing that shouldn’t be necessary for Mail to be able to store messages on the server, only for telling it to use a mailbox different from the one it would use by default.
Mail should be able to create any necessary mailboxes on the server or realize that they’re already there. If it doesn’t, it’s because there is something amiss, the problem usually being that the server uses a NAMESPACE feature that Mail doesn’t handle properly and that causes server-stored mailboxes to appear as subfolders of the account’s Inbox, even though they really aren’t — see “Can't create folders, only subfolders of INBOX” in the Courier FAQ, for example. Those IMAP accounts require INBOX to be put in Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > IMAP Path Prefix for Mail to handle them properly.

  • Where do iPhoto Template-created SENT mails get stored?

When I send a mail from within iPhoto (bypassing other mailing clients), where does the sent mail reside? It occurs to me that I might want to delete them after sending, since they can be quite large

    This document:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iPhoto/9.0/en/pht6e4207c4.html
    says:
"You can also see whether or when you emailed a photo. Select the photo, click the Info button in the toolbar, and look in the Sharing section to see to whom and when the photo was sent. Click the entry in the Sharing section to open an email you’ve sent, so you can view, edit, or resend it. (If you don’t see a Sharing section, you haven’t shared the photo.)"
If this is like the calendar, it doesn't really keep a copy, but builds it on the fly. You can test it by deleting one of the photos from the email and see if you can still view the email.

  • Where is my "Sent Mail" folder?

Not sure if this is a iPhone 4 thing or an iOS thing, but in Email, I can't find the sent mail folder, trash folder etc. Anyone have any idea if it's gone for good from the phone? I miss it!

    USBSlave wrote:
Are these IMAP or POP3 or Exchange accounts?
Also when you say "won't update" do you mean when you send a message from the phone it doesn't save a copy in the folder or when you send a message from the computer at the website for the client it doesn't update on your iPhone?
IMAP, I believe; and either way, it won't save a copy if I send it from my phone or my Mac.
*Actually, it's only those composed on my computer.

  • Where is my sent mail folder (iPhone 4)?

Hey all--I just got my first iPhone, so I'm pretty new to all this. I immediately noticed that in my mail app, there is no sent mail folder. I really would like to be able to reference emails after I have sent them. Why is this folder not there and how can I get it to show up?

Turn it off by holding the top button down "slide power to off" & slide this. Leave off a bit and turn back on holding the top button until you see the apple logo. It will take 30 seconds or so to resart. Hopefully this will fix your problem.

  • Mutt/Offlineimap Sent mail is showing up in Gmail Inbox

    Hi,
I am just starting my journey with mutt and quite like the interface thus far but I am having trouble with sent emails showing up in my Gmail inbox.  It is a little annoying to always have my sent emails appear as unread in my inbox.  In my search for a solution I have found that this behavior sometimes occurs if you have Gmail filters that are set to never send to spam, I checked and do not have any such filters.  This could also happen if I had $record set, but I have specifically unset record.  My muttrc and offlineimaprc are as follows (I used several tutorial sites to help create these) (I have hashed out some personal details):
    muttrc

I use msmtp to send the emails (and they do send) but as far as I know that program should have nothing to do with my folder labeling.
What happens exactly:  When in mutt, I press 'm' and compose an email and send with 'y'.  Oddly enough, the email appears in my gmail inbox (the webmail) even before I sync mutt with offlineimap (I don't automatically sync).  Once I sync, I see the email in both my sent mail and inbox.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated

You have unset the record variable.

  • Mail indexing and lost sent mail

since yesterday, mail has been repeatedly indexing, always getting stuck on one particular email and taking over 1/2 an hour each time before allowing access to the program. Finally, I was able to run a search and delete the offending email before the indexing hung. I assumed this would resolve the problem. But no. It still gets stuck at the exact same point.
On the next pass I selected rebuild mailbox on the sent mailbox as this is where the particular email was. Now all the sent mail foir that account is gone. Yet indexing still reports as stuck on the very same email as before.
How can I get my sent mail back? How can I stop this endless indexing?
    G4/400, G4/dual 867   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I am having same/similar problem with Mail 1.3.11 on 10.3.9. If I even open the Sent Mail box I just get the text that Mail is 'sorting messages' and in the right of the bar I get the spinning segmental timer but nothing happens. It says I have 400+ messages in the Sent folder but never lists them.
I cannot quit Mail either and have to Force Quit all the time. Sorry to say that I have started using Thunderbird with no problems but Mac Mail is my default mail app.
I click the segmental timer in top right of bar and up comes a list of active processes that are currently running. I click the big red Stop icons on this list but this doesn't stop them - things just grind to a halt. Mail doesn't quit/hang but just freezes.
    Any ideas very greatly welcomed!

  • How do I display multiple recipients in the Sent Mail list view???

In the list of sent mails, only one name (the first recipient) shows up in the "to" column. I would like to show as many names as there is room for, and not have to open the message itself to see multiple intended recipients.
Other email clients do this as the default, but in Mail I just can't find the setting for how many names to display in that column.
    Help!!!!

    Terence,
Thanks for the information.  Although this allowed me to open multiple windows, they are all show in a format too small (large thumb nails) to use.  I'm looking for a way to do a "split-window" function where two windows are shown (at the same time) larger enough to move between the windows and perform functions such as copy, paste, edit, or drag data from one to the other.
    Thanks

  • How do I get rid of duplicate "in" and "sent" mail boxes?

I have installed a new version of Thunderbird on a new machine and used Easy Transfer to move my mail boxes etc from my old machine. The problem is that I now have duplicate "in" and "sent" mail boxes. New in and sent mail only appears in one of them but I can't delete the other. I have deleted all messages in the extra "in" box (they were all duplicates) but have not been able to do the same with the messages in the duplicate "sent" box because the "deleted" folder where they would go is not big enough to take the 16000 messages in there (when I "select all" and "delete" it just says "deleted folder is full" when in fact there's nothing in it; I am assuming this just means it would not take all the messages to be deleted). Help please!

  • Delete Sent Mail in One Go?

Hi, is there anyway on the Iphone to Delete Sent Mail in One Go instead of having to mark each message individually then clicking on delete?

No, you have to tap the circle next to each message then click delete. If you are accessing an IMAP mailbox, it may be easier to do the deleting from a computer mail client, where you can shift-click a group of messages then delete them.

  • BCC myself but sent mail not showing up in Mail

I have a BlackBerry. There is a setting where you can BCC an address for mail sent from the BlackBerry so you can have a copy of what you sent on your regular mail client. I've had this configured and it worked flawlessly with other POP3 mail clients I've used. Basically, the sent mail would be retrieved via POP3 as a regular message with the "from" and "to" fields intact. This is fine, and I don't care about being able to see "BCC" recipients. My problem is that Mail seems to be recognizing that the "from" address is the same as the "BCC" address and is getting rid of those messages for me, or ignoring them on the POP server. I thought of a few things, but none seem to be true -- My spam filter (SpamSieve) is not detecting the messages as spam. I also thought that perhaps Mail is doing something nifty like automatically moving the mail into sent folders. However, that's not true either. I also did a few different searches to see if my sent messages had come down somewhere and I was just missing them.
So now I'm stumped. Is Mail making decisions for me behind the scenes? Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Bmoua,
What client did she use on the temporary computer? Outlook or outlook app or OWA?
If she used outlook, it may download the sent messages to the local pst.
In addition, I also recommend you use message tracking log to check if there are any messages had been sent out when she used temporary computer.

  • Odd sent mail behavior

every once in a while i look in my sent folder and i will find serveral emails (somtimes 7-8) that were sent weeks ago, show up as just being sent today all timestamped with the same sent time.
i've asked the person i originally sent the mail to and they don't show recieving it again.
    anyone else notice this?

This problem is caused by some index corruption that makes messages to randomly appear in a mailbox different from where they’re supposed to be. If that mailbox happens to be the Outbox, Mail thinks they’re waiting to be sent and dutifully proceeds to try to send them, but it could also be that the index corruption is causing the messages to re-appear directly in Sent without them having really been sent again.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, and making sure that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), try this:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down. This is where all your mail is stored.
    3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
    4. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index -- Mail says it’s “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.
