Where is the file that contains info on previous session info on a Mac? I would like to restore several windows and tabs I had open earlier, but the restore previous session menu item does not appear to be available. I had to install and use an older version of Firefox (3.6) to access a website (Fedtraveler.com) that is not compatible with Firefox 6 and is seems to have cleared out the previous session information. I thought I would use Mac OSX Time machine feature to restore the Firefox file where this the previous session info is kept but I don't know what it is called nor how to find it.

That is the file sessionstore.js in the Firefox Profile Folder.

It's worth a try anyway, in the worst case = an error from Contacts being unable to read the database, you can simply delete the restored files again.
In such case, or even as a first step, you may try to use the "Import..." procedure by pointing to a *.abcddb database file from your backup.
Hint: Before system upgrades presenting me with new versions of Contacts or Calendar, I always backup my databases separately as well per "Export..." in archive format. No trouble so far.

Where is the file that contains the folder view setting?

I know this questions been asked before but I can't find it and cant remember the answer. There is directory file that holds all the file and folder setting and if a persons deletes it, essentially all the files and folder view setting revert back to default view, which is a white back ground and icon view. I believe that that info is stored in the .DS_Store file in the relevant folder. Since it's invisible, you can either use one of the tricks to make the Mac show invisible files (Google will help you there), or you can use the Terminal. To delete it, in the Terminal, type "cd" (minus the quotes), then a space, then drop the folder in question on the Terminal window and hit return. Then type "rm .DS_Store".

I've been using Synchronise Pro X for years to sync several key work folders between a desktop machine (iMac) and my MacBook Pro. Having just upgraded both computers to Mavericks, things still worked, but the file scaning in SyncPro was very slow, so I upgraded to the latest version of Synchronise.... Now I've noticed that I cannot find the data files for what used to the Address Book program (and is now called Contacts) on either computer. Where are those files kept, as is there any reason that I would not be able to sync them?

I'll try iCloud, although I'm not happy with sharing my address book with Apple. Is there a secure way to do this? Also, when I tried to use iCloud to share Notes across my phone and the two Macs, I ended up with duplicate copies. Will that also happen with the contact list?

This can be done through the App Store on the device that you'd like the app installed on.
Apps on iOS
Open the App Store on your device.
Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
Tap Updates from the bottom navigation bar.
Tap Purchased on the resulting screen.
Locate the app in your Purchased tab.
Tap the download button.
The app will begin downloading and you'll be taken back to your home screen.

cs4 had it 'on launch' --> last documents open, under general preferences. i don't see it in cc version, so i guess you're right. hard to understand, since it saved time.

Searching for the file that keeps track of which mail items were open- sometimes it suddenly is shorter, forgets some of the items of mail that was open, in my 'in box' as it were.
just happened to me- 15 emails I wanted to keep open till I answered them are now lost back in the mail stack

You could just reply to the email right away, rather than putting it off until later, whenever "later" happens to be. Or, you could also put your emails that have not yet been replied to in a separate folder, and move them out into your Inbox when you have replied.

Where is the folder that contains my Firefox bookmarks?

I'm new to Windows 7. With IE, I can see/add to the Favorites by locating the Favorites folder in Windows Explorer. I cannot find a similar file that contains my Firefox bookmarks. It would be handy for transferring bookmarks from an old computer to a new one.

Thank you for your help. I was hoping to find a folder that I could open and view, but the .json filename doesn't allow that. In looking around, I did learn about Firefox Sync for sharing bookmarks between computers, so I think I found a way to do what I need, as long as the old computer is still functional (which mine wasn't for a while).

Your music and movies should still be part of the iTunes library on your computer. See if your movies are listed in "movies" in the left window in iTunes.
Photos you took with the phone are part of the last backup, if you did not sync after that. If you did, the data got overwritten.

The ''places.sqlite'' file contains your bookmarks and history. If this file is missing or damaged, Firefox will restore the most recent bookmark backup.
The ''bookmarkbackups'' folder contains bookmark backups that Firefox creates automatically.
Both can be found in your profile folder. Do not delete either while Firefox is running.

Hi, everyone, thank you advance for your time and helps.
Now I am using 9ifs to add some features to webdav. I made my own webdavserver which is similar to the original DavServer. When I loaded my own webdavServer, and found that it was truly running by Oracle Enterprise Manager, but the page of http://localhost:7777/ifs/files1 cannot be found (Http 404 error) when type the above address in my browser.(IFS.SERVER.PROTOCOL.DAV.ContextServletPath == /ifs/files1). Can you tell why?
I also want to know how does the ifsMgr work? Where can I find and in which file can I find the change s after I make some changing of some server and their parameters by the ifsMgr.
Any advices and suggestions are highly appreciated.

All the changes that are made usng IfsMgr are stored in the database, in the iFS schema. There are no local files that store the configuration data.

In the omni.ja file in Firefox Program Files. Open '''about:home''' then right-click and select View Page Source. The path to the aboutHome.xhtml file is in the titlebar. <br />
The problem with editing that file is that every 6 weeks when Firefox is updated you'll probably have to edit that file all over again.

Where's the file that stores the Recent Files list? (Mac OS)

I closed a document yesterday that I had finished after saving a PDF from a saved AI file. When I went to "Open Recent File" and selected either the AI or the PDF, it says the file cannot be found.
I would like to take a look at the path of where Illustrator thinks the file should be so I can narrow down why the file is missing.
I've looked in /Users/(me)/Library/Preferences and haven't found anything.

I doubt this *.plist file will be any use to you… Why don't you go outside the app and use spotlight…?
