  • On Windows Server 2012 R2 the option "Show my desktop background on Start" is disabled

    Since this thread is
inactive, I am starting a new one.
On windows server 2012 R2, under the taskbar properties, the option to display desktop background on start is disabled and I have not found a way to enable the same.
Please suggest, how this can be enabled.
    With regards

You should take a look at this thread. They still haven't figured it out yet though, I don't believe it is possible at the moment on server 2012 even with desktop experience installed.

  • HT2478 how do you make the setting to change desktop background every time you shut down your mac

how to make setting to change desktop background every time you close your mac
because i want to make it if anybody tries to change my dekstop picture i want it to go backto set desktop picture

Don't let other people access your Mac in admin mode - they might change something a lot more important than the Desktop picture.
However you can use Automator: create an Application in it, and select 'Set the Desktop Picture' from the Library. Choose the picture you want. Save the application, then go to System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items and select the Automator application you just created. This will then run at startup and set your chosen picture.

  • How do I fix the orientation of a desktop background photo?

I have a bunch of photos that I'd like to be able to use as my desktop background - all are saved on my computer with the correct "portrait" orientation, but when I open system preferences they weirdly show up in "landscape" orientation.  I've tried everything I can think of (saving them under different names, selecting and deselecting the exif orientation tag box, etc).  Nothing works.  The photos still show up sideways in the preferences panel.  Can anyone help?

The images should be in landscape format.

  • Where is the Lion download stored?

Just finished downloading and installing Lion on my iMac. I'd now like to install it on my MBP, but really don't want to download another 3.7 gigs of data. Where is the download stored? Is it saved after installation?

I have read that it is placed here, though I've not been able to confirm this yet:
    /Applications/Install Mac OS X Lion
    This link may also help.

  • Where is the Lion OS download link?

Just bought iMac.  It came with Snow Leopard.  It is supposed to let me download Lion for free.  But I cannot find a link on the website.  Not the $29.99 link button since I am not supposed to pay.  I can find downloads for many add ins, but not for Lion O/S

For the sake of completeness and in the spirit of giving back (thanks to those who posted help above):
problem solved.  They really do need your credit card information and it has to match up to your iTunes account card before you can download Lion.  Also, they will generate a very long code and then you have to enter that code into another window. Pretty cumbersome.  And now I am waiting for the Lion download to finish.  I see comments from others that this is taking a very long time for them and it is for me.  I understand that this is a new method for Apple to deliver downloads of its software.  Looks like Apple servers are not able to support this approach at this time.
At one point in the process they will ask you the place of purchase and right under that the city.  The place of purchase is who sold it to you and if it was the Apple Online Store you should enter Apple.com.  The example they show is XYZ company.  That is not supposed to be the company you work for, but the location of the seller. The next line down is the City.  You might think from the context that this is the City of the seller, but IT IS NOT. It is the city where you live.  Apple should clarify that.  A feedback to Apple for what its worth:
Seems redundant to ask for the seller name and the buyer city since they also already have your credit card, the serial number of your device, your apple account ID, your name, your email address, Etc.  Sure does not convey that Apple is sensitive to privacy issues.

  • Where is the lion download

I am looking for the Lion dmg file or whatever the downloaded image file name is for Lion.  I sometimes use the install dvd to "clean up" things like privlages and such by booting from the install dvd and re-setting the password.  This in the past has really speeded up boot time.  So i now have Lion and in general it perfroms pretty well. So, where is the downloaded file? I want very much to create a DVD for my own use on my laptop but cant find it anywhere. Anybody got any ideas?
    Thanks
    Bob G

When you download the upgrade to Lion it is in your Application folder but is deleted after install.
To do what you used to do from a DVD you now do from the Recovery Partition: OS X Lion: About Lion Recovery.
The nearest thing to a separate DVD is the Lion Recovery Disk Assistant.

  • Move the "Center" of a Desktop Background

Is there a way to move the desktop background when choosing the "Fill Screen" option?  I have a portrait oriented picture of two standing people with their faces being near the top.  When I set this picture as the background and chose "Fill Screen" it zooms in to the center of the picture, which is at chest level.  Is there any way to move the picture up so it focuses on the faces, sort of like when chosing a Facebook profile picture?

You can always choose one of the other options (FIT TO SCREEN, STRETCH TO FILL SCREEN, CENTER).
Or you can crop the image (using PREVIEW) to an aspect ratio that more closely matches the aspect ratio of your monitor/display.

  • Where is the Lion OS X Download????!!!

I am looking for the Lion (not mountain Lion) OS download in the App Store as my MacBook doesn't support Mountain Lion. I have not been able to find it. I have tried searching "Lion", "Lion OS X", "OS X Lion", "10.7 OS X", etc... anyone????!!!!!

If you need to purchase Lion call 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. Ask for a Sales Representative. They will check your Apple ID, and email you a code and instructions.  The cost is $29.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download.

  • Where is the lion .dmg

Downloaded Lion 10.7 for my Imac installed etc works fine exept for my scanner software. But on the forums it said you get 5 licenses for Lion do I need to download the whole program every time for each machine? all he guilds i've read say you need to burn it to a dvd before you install lion which is now too late now, and if i do need to download it for each machine how will it handle my sister's and my dad's machines because they have their own apple accounts ? will it just reject it as soon as they swap back to thier account or will all the machines be registed to my account from then on? if anyone has any info please let me know.

After lion installs it deletes the installer.  You can download lion again on your computer from the app store by holding down the option key while clicking the purchases tab.  The button next to Lion should change from "installed" to "install" click "install" and download the file again.  Once you have downloaded the installer again, locate it in Finder, right click on it and click "Show Package Contents".  click on the folder "SharedSupport" and then copy the dmg "InstallESD" onto your desktop.  you can then burn that file to a cd and use it like an installer cd.

  • Changing the Lion OS X Finder background to a picture.

I downloaded a picture of the black Apple Linen texture online.
I wanted to change the background of the finder. The picture is 1920x1080 so I figured the size would be fine I have the 21.5" iMac. blah blah blah.
But when I change to the picture it doesn't fill the page, but fills the top left of the page. The area of the picture doesn't change when I change the size of my Finder.
I also downloaded a picture of size 128x128 The picture didn't stretch, it just took the size in the top left of my finder screen.

In Desktop & Screen Saver preferences, under Desktop, there should be a dropdown box with the option, "Fill Screen" and if that is not enough, there is "Stretch to Fill Screen"
See if either of those help.

  • Where is the Media Manager in Desktop 6.0.0.40 ??????

Last night the BlackBerry Desktop Manager wanted to do an update.  I've done these updates in the past so I thought it would be safe.
This new version - 6.0.0.40 (Released August 3, 2010 Bundle 42) does not have the Roxio Media manager.  I have to be able to copy files between the BlackBerry file system and my PC.  Not just from the music, pictures and video directories.  I have files in other locations of the file system for my application.
      Paul

I too had the same problem not being able to access any of my files in device memory after upgrading to DM6. Mass storage device is turned on.  I posted this issue on Aug 12 with no reply from RIM/BB with a fix.  I therefore was forced to reinstall DM5 with Roxio Media Manager and can once again access all my files on my device and move them around.  Now I have two DM'S running on my desktop.  As I stated in my post, I'm not impressed with DM6 at all!  Why release something that doesn't work? In my opinion it's a downgrade!

I pruchases motionx gps hd for my ipad2 and it says it is installed but there is no icon on my desktop?

  • I've just subscribed to Acrobat PDF Export in order to convert pdf files back to Word.  Where is the icon for my desktop.  I don't seem to have the program to do so?

Where on my PC do I access the PDF Export to convert pdf to Word?

    A very good morning John,
As far as I have understood, there is no problem with ExportPDF. You might need to check whether the fonts in your PDF are embedded or not.
For this, open the PDF in Reader/Acrobat and go into File>Properties and click on Fonts tab to check for the same.
If the fonts used in the PDF are not present in the system, then MS Word may not be able to retain the layout of the file.
    Please check.
