Where is the Media Manager in Desktop 6.0.0.40 ??????

Last night the BlackBerry Desktop Manager wanted to do an update.  I've done these updates in the past so I thought it would be safe.
This new version - 6.0.0.40 (Released August 3, 2010 Bundle 42) does not have the Roxio Media manager.  I have to be able to copy files between the BlackBerry file system and my PC.  Not just from the music, pictures and video directories.  I have files in other locations of the file system for my application.

I too had the same problem not being able to access any of my files in device memory after upgrading to DM6. Mass storage device is turned on.  I posted this issue on Aug 12 with no reply from RIM/BB with a fix.  I therefore was forced to reinstall DM5 with Roxio Media Manager and can once again access all my files on my device and move them around.  Now I have two DM'S running on my desktop.  As I stated in my post, I'm not impressed with DM6 at all!  Why release something that doesn't work? In my opinion it's a downgrade!

  • Media Manager & Digital Desktop Display

    Hi,
I've captured HDV footage to ProRes and all that is ok. I wanted to use Media Manager to recompress to a lower bit rate format for mobile editing. All that is fine, too.
The problem I'm having is when I'm editing with the new (recompressed footage) and using the digital cinema desktop display:
When I use preset formats from the media manager list, the digital cinema desktop function works fine. When I create a custom setting in the media manager (recompressing) the digital cinema desktop display function stays still on the first frame and only changes when I stop it (and it changes to the frame where I stopped).
Any solution or ideas are welcome.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Thanks for the answer.
Well, after much experimenting with workflow (some time ago) I had decided upon always capturing to ProRes from the camera. My system seems to work smoother (therefore I work faster) with the ProRes than with the HDV.
In any case, it was near identical.
In this case, what I really need is to create two sets of media. I need something very small and portable for this edit, while keeping the ProRes (or original HDV) on my main computer for when I'm there.
I just get better results (higher quality with a lower bit rate) when I do custom settings in Media Manager, but then the digital cinema desktop display stops working.
Thanks for the input, but this media manager issue is my real problem.
    Cool,
    Matt

  • Media Manager on Desktop Manager

I just download the 4.3 version of desktop manager to see if it would solve my issue of not being able to download more than 1 GB of music on a 2 GB media card.  Now there is not Media Manager option but the help tells me to use media manager.  Any idea how i transfer music from my computer to my BB 8800 with the new desktop manager?

It is possible the Media manager did not get installed for whatever reason. Do you see Roxio Media manager listed in the start or Add/Remove programs menu?

  • Should I Fear the Media Manager?

I'm admittedly a little paranoid when it comes to using the media manager. I have a feature film that I do not want to screw up, but I DO want to have it down to a more manageable size. I figure that if I 'copy', 'include master clips outside', but 'delete unused media', 'include affiliate clips' and create a new project - I should be fine correct? I'll also include all multiclip angles.
All that I want to do is make sure that the original files are left intact. I will be copying to another external, but I want to leave the original files alone. Is there any danger of the original files being compromised in any way if I make sure that I 'copy' (ie. NOT set it at 'use existing')? Is there anything else I should take into consideration prior to backup? Thanks for any and all help.

When I've worked with a sound guy, they've normally worked with ProTools and thus just needed OMF's of the tracks. I just provided a locked cut in the form of a DV export of my reels for his picture guide. Everything was in sync with both head and tail pops. No need to transfer the original QT files to the sound editor.
Now I don't know about STP. Perhaps that does require the QT files? Is that right? If so, then thats a shame because video in this case is a huge waste of time. All you need is the audio to him.
However, giving a new project to another editor for recutting etc, is a big deal. I'd like to hear more from others about their successes with MM since I wasn't impressed. In fact, I wish I could cut with two FCP 'seats' using Unity to share storage...sadly budget didn't allow for that.
I would say this: if your new project can relink with MM files then great. That means the other editor can work easily. We didn't have that experience.
I might add, when he passed a project with the new cut to us, we couldn't reconnect easily. A big pain.
Perhaps, MM is great when it is one way. i.e not a situation where editors are sharing work but more finishing and then handing over to the next person in the production flow. (sound editor e.g)

  • Where are the media files?

I can't believe I'm asking such a basic question but I can't find the answer! Where are the media clips stored in iMovie 6? In past versions, the media was kept in a folder titled "Media". I've searched my computer for clips I want to export to FCE but can't find them.
    Thanks!

Ctrl-click (or right-click) the icon of the project file to get the contextual menu. Choose "Show Package Contents".

Where do the MEDIA FILES live after I import them from camera to iMovie (Mac Mini OS X 10.9.2)?  I need to MOVE MEDIA FILES to external hard drive.

    Hello bbryson68,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand you're wanting to move iMovie project and event data to another drive.  I found the following information in the iMovie help that answers your question.
Copy or move projects, events, or clips between libraries or storage devices
Connect a storage device that contains the target library to your Mac, or copy the target library to your Mac.
Choose File > Open Library, and choose an option from the submenu. You can choose from recently opened libraries, locate an existing library on your Mac, or create a new library. The selected library is opened in the Libraries list, with the first event selected and its contents displayed in the browser.
In the Libraries list, select the event that contains the item you want to move or copy.
In the browser, select the item you want to move or copy.Tip:  To select multiple clips or projects in the same library, hold down the Command key as you click the items you want to select, or drag a selection rectangle around the items.
    Do one of the following:
To move items between events or libraries: Drag the clip or project to another event or library.
To copy items between events or libraries: Option-drag the clip or project to another event or library by first starting to drag and then holding down the Option key as you drag.
    Work with multiple libraries

  • Only sequences, where are the media files?

I recieved a project that has only sequences in the browser, but in the seqences, the edited clips are there. Where are the media files? I'm used to having the media files in my browser with my sequences. Since I have sequences but no media files, I'm not sure where the media is that the clips (in the timeline)are pointing to. I know where my source files (QT) are. just not sure where the media files that represent that

If you are working from the same volume as the original projects, or at least a volume with the same name and folder structure then you are fine. If you want, you can select all the medial files in the sequences and drag them to the browser if it helps you to see what you have. Personally, I think if you are not changing any of those sequenced you're just as well to leave it as it is. Are you seeing video when you play those SD sequences? If yes then they are already pointing to the original media. FCP doesn't create its own media unless you render, and even then, it still uses the original in that process. So if you can see the video, you're all set. It's when you see those white clips in the timeline that you have to worry.

  • Using the media manager

Hi I have been given avi files for editing whilst the original video was shot in dvc pro. Will I benefit from quality if I convert all avi files to dv pal or any other format in the media manager?or will the quality stay the same since I am converting from avi?
The problem is that I ve been given the files in avi and although I have the dvc pro tapes,I have no player to import these on better quality to my mac.
Whats the best thing I can do with the avi files so as to get the best quality possible for editing on final cut?
    Thanks
    Danny

FCP will support the AVI files you have, however they won't give you as much real time playback of effects that you could have if you converted them to QT movies using Apple's DV PAL codec. As far as the quality goes, it will be much the same I'd think.

  • Someone PLEASE Check The Media Manager Program! RunTime Components Will NOT Download Properly!

I am a Verizon FiOS subscriber, and my family members have Verizon apps and programs on their computers.  For some ungodly reason, Media Manager does NOT install properly once the initial download program is acquired.  There is a message that comes up that says "Media Manger installer is having a problem accessing the server to download RunTime components. Please try again later."  I've had my brother call because he is the most technically inclined, and despite being on the phone extensively with Verizon representatives, NO-ONE has fixed or seems to be able to fix this problem!
I would appreciate it if someone would please either fix the files at the server, fix the downloader so that it goes to whatever new area where the runtime components are, or post the correct link to perhaps a full installer of Verizon MediaManager.  It is very frustrating that despite calling, I have not gotten ANY proper assistance with this issue!
    Sincerely,

    What OS are you running?
If Vista or Windows 7, Try right clicking the install program and selecting run as administrator. See if that helps.

  • Media manager in Desktop manager not working

    Hi
for some reason my Media Manager is not highlighted so I can't select it in my Blackberry Desktop Manager.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Few things
    1. What OS are you running
    2. Check to make sure that you do not have any anti spyware software blocking the app
    3. make sure the firewall is not blocking it like Zonealarm.
4 did you get any errors when you installed it
    5. uninstall the app and make sure you delete the folder as well
         "C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry and reinstall it

  • Where is the Media Encoder download????

Encoder is giving me problems so I'm trying to reinstall it, but it's no where to be found in the App Manager list or on the CC site.

Thanks John. Although I've reinstalled both Premiere Pro and After Effects and Media Encoder is not there. This might be because I originally uninstalled Encoder by throwing it in my trash and deleting it before using the uninstall app for Premiere and After Effects. I'm not sure if that's confused the process. Does anyone know how/where I can get Encoder to download seperately?

  • Where did the media type (paper type) controls go?

I am running a Mac Book Pro with OSX 10.7.3 Lion.  My question pertains to color management in Photoshop CS5.  Where do I put my .icc file (Pro38 WCRW) for Photoshop’s use as a media type?  And where in the Photoshop CS5 print process does it give me the ability to change paper types (.icc files), etc?

  • Where is the Enterprise Manager in Oracle 8.1.5

    Hi,
    After installing Oracle 8i (8.1.5), I can't find the
Oracle Enterprise Manager. Where is it? In Oracle 8.0.5 on
NT, you can access it from the START button. In the Oracle 8.1.5
documentation, it talks about the Microsoft Management Console
where you can access the Database Administration Assistant.
When I select the database administration assistant menu
from the Start button menu, nothing happens. Do I need to
have Oracle 8.1.5 installed on an NT Server?
    TIA,

    Hi, beeftastic-
There are two color pickers - one is for solids and the other is for gradients.  Here's a screenshot of the properties panel with the gradient picker icon highlighted.
    Hope that helps!
