Where is the Preferences Folder in Mac OS X 10.9?

I'm having some problems learning the new operating system Mac OS X 10.9.1. I'm looking for the Preferences Folder or the Library Folder for a User Account. Can anyone tell me where to fine it, please?

You can make it permanently visible by going to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.

i have been having a bit of an epic battle but i am now realizing that these are now shown to me in Mac Mail after having File > Import > MBox these folders from my previous Mail handler (I /tried/ using postbox)...
anyway, obviously now I can drag other mail to this Local Folder in Mac Mail since it is now there after having imported the info from elsewhere. not sure how one does this when Mail isn't showing a local folder but presumably there is a pulldown to move IMAP mail to Local.
anyway, the big, big, big thing to know here is that you can transfer LOCAL FOLDER mail from a mail handler to Mac Mail by IMPORTING. I was trying to do this with Postbox via GMail and in addition to the upload speeds being very slow, there was not way to know if the operation was completed and it /seemed/ to crash out part way through. doing this in Postbox was like eating a Peanut Butter Sandwich (heavy peanut butter) while standing in quicksand...

Hi!~ I always open preview folder from systems temp on windows7, but in mac I can't find it folder?
event I search on floder not find.
Please tell me the preview temp folder path for mac!~

It's in your user (Home) > Library folder. In recent versions of Mac OS X, this is hidden by default.
In the Finder, hold down the Option key first while choosing Go > Library so you can see it.
Then find it in:
Library > Application Support > Adobe > Acrobat > 11.0 > Stamps

Where is the extension folder for Adobe Bridge? (Mac)

I am trying to install the output module on Adobe Bridge. I am totally new to Creative Suite and photoshop. I can't find any information on bridge extensions at all. Here's the page I found on installing the output module- http://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/kb/install-output-module-bridge-cc.html
I downloaded it but after that is says to copy it into the extension folder. Where is the extension folder? Is it is Bridge? Is it in Finder? Any information on extensions is much appreciated! What exactly are extensions? What is the difference between the extension folder and extension manager?

At first sight I can' see anything wrong about the correct locations you used.
There was no need to delete all workspaces but that also should do no harm I would think.
You once pointed at the bridge6.plist file but it is not clear to me what you did with it. Personally I would quit Bridge and delete this plist file manually and then restart with again holding down option and use reset preferences.
And you did also use the reset to standard workspaces instead of the reset workspace to only reset the selected workspace. I don't know for sure this will make a difference but it is worth a try.
And while you are in the user library to delete the plist file for Bridge also look in the folder caches in this library.
User / library/caches/adobe/Bridge CC and inhere find and delete both the plug in and cache folder, then restart Bridge.
Finally it might be also worth a try to download CS6, it should not be needed to do so but it was one of the earlier solutions that worked. In your ACC menu click on any app that shows blue and this brings you to the CC website. Choose download center and find PS. Click on the icon and this gives you the detailed download page. Inhere you can change CC to CS6.
Download PS6 it and install it (this also installs the CS6 version of Bridge which was not a separate download in CS6). Then try first start CS6 and start the AOM which is installed by default in this version.
Then when having used this once quit CS6 and try CC (or even combine with restarting your Mac).

What are the text files that suddenly showed up in the Preferences folder?

I just noticed a group of text files in the Preferences folder that I haven't noticed before. All of them were created within a 3-minute period on 12/31/2008. The names are in sets of 4 or 5 that follow this scheme:
np_334572current
np_334572services
np_334572servicesnew
np_334572sets
np_334572system
The default app to open these is Property List Editor.
They haven't been modified since they were created, even though I've been adding, deleting, and modifying apps and their preferences since then. Anybody know what they are? Can or should I delete these?

To be honest I don't know what program they are related to. However If the files are located in ~/Library/Preferences (Where is ~ = your home directory) Then You should be safe in moving/deleting them, at worst you will have to reset the settings in one of your apps. What that folder is mainly used for is say for example you have your dock show/hide it self. That will be saved to a plist file in the preferences folder. If you delete or move the dock's plist out of there your dock on your next login will go back to the default view of Mac OS.
Now To be honest you don't have to move/delete those files that are there, especially since at most you will probably reset some of the preferences you set in an application. But its up to you. Also you could always move it first to see what app it is and either move it back or delete it later.

You´ll ask next: "but how do I access Terminal?" If you search for "Terminal" in the Finder, it shows up. Make sure the Search is of "This Mac" and not "All my Files". Once you see it, click on it and the terminal window opens up. The background inside the window is white and not black as sometimes pictured.

Repeated corruptions of preferences folder on Mac IL CS4?

Hello everyone
a quick question; despite me removing old versions of the corrupt preferences folder, I get non-regular, but periodic corruptions of the preferences folder. They result in me having to reinput all my serials and generally waste my time.
Now I'd rather not reinstall my Illustrator so I am wondering what other solutions there could be for this problem?
I cannot trace an exact event to when it started doing this, but it could have been when I got very, very low on hard drive space on my Macbook pro [which isnt a problem anymore, I have a few gig to spare]

Clean out your system caches using a tool like OnyX. Some of them are persistent and don't respond to disk space allocation changes which in turn may make them interfere by being in the wrong place or too small to hold more data, resulting in corruption of plists or things that acces the font cache. Just wipe them clean. Takes a little longer on next system startup, but you will pleasently notice that your system will generally regain some of its snappiness. Regardless of what most Mac people think, OSX pollutes itself over time just like Windows does... If the issue persists after that, you may wish to check your spotlight settings and Time Machine and exclude your user pref directory from their indexing and backup.

*** may have found a fix ? *** Thanks to your post re: GDI objects I checked task manager ( added column "GDI objects")and saw 700+ whereas working 6.18 was 160 ish Got thinking - what could possibly use that many GDI objects ( firefox only uses a few hundred and it's a platform ) Then it hit me - emoticons ! So in tools/ options/ IM&SMS/ IM Appearance unchecked "show emoticons"and also unchecked "show images and other media previews"restarted Skype and GDI objects now only 164 ( down from 729 )and all other windows are repainting fine and are usable again( my problem was RDP sessions that became unusable, as I work remotely ) To be sure, have rechecked the options and restarted skype and see 700+GDI objects ( goes up from 660 when place call to echo/sound test )and removed them again to get only 164have also rebooted a few times and gone through the whole processof unchecking emoticons, restart, rechecking emoticons, restart to make sure itsnot a fluke. pretty sure this has fixed it for me ( so I now have a working 7.6.0.105 on XP SP3 ),and as your problem "sounds" the same I hope it also works for you. Did you reinstall using the full three step way (otherwise strange things may linger)?
Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

where are the updates located for Mac App Store app? I don't think /Library/Updates is the only location. Because I'm now having 10+ of Apps reporting updates is needed, but only 1MB＋ files is located in /Library/Updates.
