Where is the Preview Pane

I am new to imac and am using PSE9 and when I print I am unable to see the preview pane. It does not show up in the printer dialog box. Any suggestions please?

Hi Alex,
When any user clicks on the pdf to preview on the preview pane then the pdf gets locked and will not be able to get opened by other users and will prompt the error message mentioned above. Until the user clicks on other file the lock does not get released on the file.
You can check the status of the file at: 'Computer Management' > under 'System Tools' >' Shared Folders' > 'Open Files', it will show the clicked pdf's 'Open Mode > Read' status
If the file still shows the Read status as locked, then you need to check the permissions on the network folder.
Does this issue also occur with a different network folder?

  • I've lost the toolbar, looking for a way to eliminate the preview pane below the list of emails.

In attempting to eliminate the preview pane (which I don't like) I accidentally eliminated the toolbar at the top. Since it's no longer there, I can't get the 'tools' option, and so I'd like to restore it. How?

    Thanks for the reply.
    I'm not using cc cleaner.
This started after an update. Somewhere there must be an option box to turn off this feature permanently, but no one seems to know where it is. I must turn it off every time under view, layout, message pane.
I have no need for this feature. If I want to see the email i open it. If not I delete it. Having it take up half of my email page is a totally useless feature.
    Any suggestions

  • Removing the preview pane in iCloud

I didn't know where to send the suggestion for this or if I'm just not looking in the right place for it. I would like to be able to remove the preview pane in my iCloud mail. It's really the biggest thing keeping me from using iCloud for email; I don't like having it automatically open the email, since I have gotten spam in that account. I do use the MacMail program on my desktop for my mail most of the time, so I'm able to remove the panel there, however, accessing it from another computer means I don't have access to MacMail and have to deal with opening every single email, even the ones I'd rather just delete.
If there a setting I'm missing or a place I could suggest this to Apple? I don't have the newest OS yet, did that change anything? (figuring not, since this is an issue with the iCloud website itself)
    Thanks!

  • HT2500 How do I not display the preview pane in mail until I open it with a double click? Some mail I do not wish to open-just delete it.

How do I not display the preview pane in mail until I open it with a double click? Some mail I do not wish to open-just delete it. New macbook pro with LION OS

Just drag the divider line between the preview pane and the message list all the way to the edge so the preview is completely closed. Selected messages will open in a new window with a double-click or the return key.

  • Documents saved in firefox format cannot be viewed in the preview pane. Why? Also, I don't want my documents changed to another format. How do I change back?

Documents in Firefox format do not open automatically in the preview pane. Why? Also, I don't want my documents changed from the original format. How do I change them back and how do I keep this from happening again. I don't want to have to select a different format every time I try to open a document. That is a pain in the neck. I want to "click to open" and the document be in it's original format. If necessary I will go back to one of the other browsers I have used in the past. As I don't want multiple browsers on my computer it would be necessary to uninstall Firefox. I like it so far other than you all hijacking my documents and altering the way they open. You also might want to remember that even the "legitimate" folks on the internet are seen as predatory, i.e., gathering information, tricking us into installing crap we don't want or need, and in some cases, requiring a specific program to open a specific document. I'd be working very hard to show you are trustworthy. If you have a solution to this and it is complex then you will be wasting your time and my time trying to explain it. You guys created this so, if I'm going to use Firefox, you fix it on your end. FYI, if I have to uninstall Firefox I will, when asked, strongly recommend against using your service. Thank you.

    Do you mean PDF documents?
The installer was supposed to add Firefox as an ADDITIONAL viewer for PDFs, not as the DEFAULT viewer. Sorry you were affected by this glitch and hopefully they will figure out why some systems get changed this way.
You can try this fix suggested by a user in another thread:
    # Open Adobe Reader / Acrobat*
    # Edit->Preferences
    # In the Categories column click 'General'
    # Near the bottom of the page click the button marked 'Select Default PDF Handler'
    # In the dialog, select 'Adobe Reader XI' (or Adobe Acrobat, as the case may be) and click 'Apply'
    # A Windows Configuration screen will appear. Allow it to do its stuff (takes a few minutes), then restart your computer when prompted.
    Does that work for you?

  • How to I stop the Preview Pane in Windows 7 retaining control when I open a PDF document using Adobe Acrobat (Reader is NOT installed)

I have the preview pane active when selecting PDF Documents.  When I open a PDF document I am unable to save any changes. the error message I receive:
"The documents could not be saved. The file ma be read-only,or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name of in a different folder"
The document is not read only and no other user has it open.  If I turn the preview pane OFF there is no problem saving changes.  I have also un-installed Adobe Reader.
Other programs (such as Excel, Word) do not experience the same problems as the PDF documents.
    Does anyone have a solution?

    Hi snoreaustralia,
It sounds like you just need to associate the PDF filename extension with Acrobat, rather than Preview. Please see this document from the Microsoft Help for instructions on choosing the default program for opening a particular file type (in your case, PDF): Change which programs Windows uses by default - Windows Help

  • HT3149 iPhoto 09 When I click on the preview pane to move a photo into edit, it shows up black and the edit buttons are not active.  How do I fix that?

When I click on the preview pane to move a photo into the edit pane, there is no image just a black square and the edit buttons are not active. A few images in an event will move to the edit pane but most will not.  I cannot work with those images that do not enter the edit pane..no attaching to email, make a card, slideshow, etc.

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

You need to close the preview / document viewer before deleting.

  • Users are not able to save pdfs after editing - Adobe XI. They do not use the Win7 explorer preview pane.  If they completely close the Win7 explorer window, they can save - Adobe XI thinks the preview pane is open when it is not.

Users are not able to save pdfs after editing.  Product is Adobe XI, OS is Win7 64-bit.  When saving, an error pops up that the file cannot be saved, it is in use.  If they save as a different name, it works.  Found several forums/blogs/etc that suggest the problem can be solved by closing the Window7 explorer preview pane.  They don't use the preview pane.  I figured out that if they completely close the explorer window, they can save.  But this means they have to open and close explorer for each file.

Hi, I would like to chime in and say that this problem has not yet been resolved. It is extremely annoying when all I do is highlight a document in the file explorer and I get 5 errors (evenly spaced out about 20 seconds apart telling me that "Microsoft
Word Cannot Start (24)". These errors persist even after windows explorer and word are closed. And I don't want to start terminating processes just to make them stop every time.
I'm a little frustrated with this problem and the other problems I've encountered with MS Office 2013 with file corruption, crashing, 2010 compatibility issues, and the whole host of errors when trying to actually do WORK with Word.
I do work with long, complex reports in Word because that's the best way available for myself (and my coworkers) to use. However, I sincerely regret upgrading to Office 2013 because of it. I love it, all of its features, and its interface, but I simply cannot
    use it without problems.

  • Message of Email from a Specific Person is Blank - but I can see the start of the message in the Preview Pane

I'm having an unusual problem with recieving emails from just one person.  When she replys to an email, I can see the original message, but not her message.  If she sends me a "fresh" email, the message is totally blank.  In both cases, I can see the first couple lines of her email in the preview pane so I know the content is in there somehow.
She can receive my emails fine.  Other people on the same email thread seem to receive her emails fine.  Any ideas on a workaround or fix?

Shame on me...i upgraded today my iPad 3 and 4S to 5.1.1 and like you my Gmail Box configured as Exchange for Push, is completely broken :|
I can't read my calendars, can't update my contact list and also my email are not downloaded.
This is completely ridicuolous because i also tried to remove the account and restore the devices...nothing worked

  • How do i remove the preview pane in imail

    Hi;
After watching the Key Note i downloaded Mavericks with great anticipation and I have been sadly dissapointed, constant beach balling and software not working and iv'e lost my Win XP partition!!!
Anyway I am wading through the problems one by one.
The latest problem is that when I open mail I want to get rid of the preview pane, searching on google for OSX10 suggest that if you double click on the separator bar it will disappear however not in my case!!!
How do I remove the reading pane??
    Thanks

I just bought the latest Macbook Pro and I have tried double clicking, which did not work, and dragging. But it only lets me drag it part of the way. I cannot completely drag it out of the frame.  Also, is there a way to have the email list show just the reciepients and not part of the message?

  • Mail suddenly stopped showing the preview pane.  Is there a fix? I'm on 10.5.8

The mail on my mac mini stopped showing the preview pane.  Is there a fix? I'm on 10.5.8

I wonder if you've just dragged the page divider across so it's not visible, try selecting the right hand edge and drag it back left ?  (Or maybe it's down and up on that version I'm on 10.7.2)

  • How do I turn off the preview pane in Mail

I am trying to turn off the preview pane in Mail - ultimate goal is to stop have mail mark a message as read just because I scrolled over it.  I don't want a message marked as read unless I actually open the mail item.
fond this thread continually in earlier discussions from 2009-2011 - but othing more recent.  Surely this has been fixed by now.
    Thanks

Drag the divider between the message list and the preview pane all the way to the right. It will pause about a 3/4 of the way, but keep dragging and it will go all the way over.

  • Where has the preview panel gone is Bridge CS5?

Today when I opened up Bridge, the preview panel on the right hand side has disappeared. It shows as being selected when I go to the Window Menu but it isn't there. The scroll bar is also missing so I can't view all of the thumbnails. Does anyone have any ideas about why this has happened and how I can return it to it's normal format? Thanks, Michelle.

    Fantastic. Thank you, much appreciated

No, but you can choose Reset Workspace from the workspace menu to get it back to normal.

  • Getting the preview pane to work

When I redesigned my Intranet site and added some js and new
css elements to it, I lost the ability to see and edit any of the
pages in the preview pane. I've tried eliminating each of the
elements I think might be causing the problem, one by one, to no
    avail.
As a new user to this forum, I was uncertain whether I should
include the code (privacy issues) for all to see. Please
    help!

These symptoms are characteristic of a page being so mangled
    that DW cannot
    figure out what to render.
A good way to get a mangled page is to include a code
    fragment that actually
    contains <html>, <head>, and <body> tags.
    Does yours?
