Where to get Hewlett Packard LaserJet 4 Plus - C2037A Toner?

I have a Hewlett Packard Laser Jet 4 Plus C2037A printer that requires a toner. I know that it is an old model. Has Hewlett Packard discontinued these toners? If so, is there an alternative that can still be used?
Look forward to hearing from you.

Claire

  • Hewlett Packard LaserJet PRO 200 Color M251NW - ICC Profile

My girlfriend works from home selling jewelry on Etsy and her prints have been coming out with a strange tint to them recently. I have tried to find the proper ICC profile to use with this printer, but can't seem to find it anywhere. Am I overlooking something?

I still can't get this to work properly. Is there a page that just lists the ICC profiles? I've found some on support tickets but nothing that just has all of them.

  • Windows 7 and HP LaserJet 4 Plus

I have a new laptop with windows 7 and an old (but very reliable) LaserJet 4 Plus printer.  I was able to download print drivers from the HP site but it still will not print.  I don't get any error messages, just nothing happens when I try to print a document or test page.  Do I need to change something else in my settings?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

There are two main areas for issues installing a Laserjet 4 in Windows 7:
Ports.  The Laserjet 4 and its derivatives had a standard parallel port but most Windows 7 machines no longer have a parallel port.  The most common solution is a USB-parallel converter cable.  This can be problematic because many of the converter cables do not support Windows 7.  [Edit - the posts flagged here have models of converter cables users in the forum has reported as working in Windows 7.] Additionally, most of the cables have no documentation (or even a brand name) making it difficult to resolve issues.  The converter may provide a simulated parallel port such as LPT3: or it may be a port like USB001:.  Another option with the Laserjet 4 would be to add a JetDirect card which would provide a network port for the Laserjet 4.  This will require the Laserjet to be connected to a router and would provide network access to multiple computers if you wish.  A typical JetDirect card for the Laserjet 4 is shown here.
Drivers.  The drivers for the Laserjet 4 (and 4M and other derivatives) are delivered through Windows Update.  If Windows Update is enabled (as described in step method 2 here under the section to "Configure Windows Update to"...) you may be able to just connect the USB cable and have the driver properly install.  If not do the following:  click on the Start Orb, Devices and Printers, Add a Printer, then select the appropriate port.  When the list of printers comes up click on Windows Update.  It will take several minutes for the list to repopulate, once this is complete the Laserjet 4 series printers will be available under HP (not Hewlett-Packard).

  • Rahul Sood "Founder of Voodoo PC" Leaves Hewlett-Packard =(

    Rahul Sood Leaves Hewlett-Packard
My own take on it, wish he never sold out to HP its what big companies do to a good custom PC maker. Look at alienware it was a great company until the Dell buyout of the company around 2005, has been going down hill in quality since. Then Voodoo PC was bought out in 2006 in 2008-2009 the brand minus the envy notebooks was cut from HP product lines as the economy went down hill.  Spending three years finally getting my grubbies on an HP Blackbird 002 w/voodoo DNA has been a mission for me the past 3 almost 4 years I finally got one this year at over a thousand dollars on ebay with old parts. I should had gotten one when HP was shutting down the Calgary factory and selling cases for six hundred dollars, in the end the case cost me around eight hundred dollars. It is the only case to this day unlike any other I have owned that has gone up in its original MSRP where every other case has gone down... does not matter if its lian li, silverstone, mountian mods, cooler master, antec, thermaltake, the list just continues once you buy one of the brands I mentioned for a case its price drops and the resale value is horrid, while the HP Blackbird 002 w/Voodoo DNA case continues to climb in cost if your lucky enough to get your hands on one.
So far it is the best case I have owned able to cool 3x GTX 480's in tri sli with temps in the high sixties under full load with a single 120mm fan using the case's thick die cast aluminum fins as an air cooler as air is pulled into the case, hitting the cool metal fins into the case though the hard drives, into the 120mm fan then into the gpus. No case I have seen has been able to do this without high multiple cfm fans. Nor has any case I have seen/owned gone up in value they all went down in their original msrp over the HP BB 002 case that has already climbed one hundred to two hundred dollars plus HP's original sale msrp of the case and that was for a new case. These are used cases we are talking about some not in premium/mint condition anymore.
I bet if Rahul Sood kept his hands on Voodoo PC it would still be a popular brand today. Worth well more than the money HP offered him in the buyout in 2006. Maingear is pretty much the new voodoo pc but there is alot left to be desired from them design wise in their cases. The shift is a nice case but in essence its still a Silverstone Raven RV-01 with a new shell thrown on top of it with lack of cooling for high power consumption gpus. Maingear's cases are not all that original most are just re-shelled cases from different companies. Too bad Rahul Sood could not take the Voodoo name with him when he leaves HP. Because if he was able to those wanting an original custom made pc from the case to what is inside along with the red carpet laid out for them Rahul Sood would offer that to the pre-built custom gaming machine industry again.

Now that's where your wrong Alienware quality has gone up dramatically now Dell are building them. You also don't have to worry about month long delays and being lied to as many of my friends have been. If I didn't have an Apple laptop i would seriously consider Alienware now they've been taken over, never before.
As to Rahul I expected this. I've spoken about it with a lot of friends and HP should have done what Dell did with Alienware fund them and let them do their own thing. Instead they ran it into the ground produced two/three good products and poof nothing else. They've had some amazing products and as one of a very select few to have a Blackbird in the UK the quality and innovation level is insane compared to pretty much anything else out there and its such a shame things have panned out so badly overall.

  • HP LaserJet 4 plus driver

The driver I have will not install, setup, or execute. So how do you get the driver into windows XP. This is the first time in 18 years I have seen this. It appears the driver is in DOS format. Hopefully I will get an answer before the weekends out. I could use something to go right.
    Thanks in advance
    Doug

OK, I just checked and the driver is available on Windows XP.
How are you trying to add the printer?  Go to the Printers folder (Start, Control Panel, Printes and Faxes).  Under the "Printer Tasks" select "Add a printer".  Look under HP (not Hewlett-Packard) and select the Laserjet 4.
If there are error messages in the above process please indicate which step fails and the error mesage.

  • WHY HEWLETT PACKARD ROYALLY PISSES ME OFF?

Shows on bottom right of my monitor:
    Windows 7
    Build 7601
This copy of Windows is not genuine
Dear HP (Assuming I am speaking to HP directly)
I have an HP Pavilion purchased about 2 years ago (a birthday present from my wife). It came with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed and disc but with no disc key code. I was having problems with the system running extremely slow so I took it to Staples tech people. They kept it for 4 days, tried everything but nothing worked. They suggested I purchase an external hard drive and transfer all my files, etc. to same which I did but my computer still ran slowly. Thus, out frustration and after spending $300 for tech services and external hard drive, I decide just to install the Windows 7 disc that came with the computer. This, of course, started me back to square one … I had to start as though it was a new computer with no personal saved files, etc.
I seemed to get everything back to normal and had no “slow running” issues. Then, a message started popping up that my version of Windows was not genuine. I searched my computer, found the presumed key code and entered it but it was and continues to be rejected as not valid no matter what I do. Since the time to valid has expired, my Windows screen is black, the clock is always wrong and other annoying things won’t work.
I called your support line and got the runaround. Eventually, my line with your representatives, before I had a solution, was disconnected and I was not about to go through that HELL again. Searching the Web, I was advised that this was a HP issue that you could resolve. If not, Microsoft wants me to spend $150 for another Windows 7 program. After adding up all my expenses thus far to fix my original “slow” problem,  I could have bought a brand new computer and I am not going to waste any more of my money. This is why I am so angry and have made my anger known to all my Facebook friends.
Below, I have copied and pasted all the information I was able to gather from my computer operating system, computer battery and Windows information. If you can help me, it would certainly be appreciated and change my opinion of HP which I will immediately make known to my Facebook friends and remove any negative comments I have made about HP.
WHAT'S THIS YOU WROTE? I STILL HAVE NO ANSWERS TO MY PROBLEM. INCREDIBLE!!!

  • Laserjet 4M Plus (C2039A) prints blank pages after cleaning?

I have a Laserjet 4M Plus (C2039A) that was working well.  I was getting toner streaks so I disassembled the covers and cleaned dust and toner out.  Cleaned plastic and plates with soapy sponge, cleaned rollers with alcohol, brushed and used air to clean dust.  I'm good with mechanical projects. After re-assembling, I print blank pages.  The menus, display, and computer interface seem fine.  Paper feeds correctly.  Self Test displays no errors, but I am unable to read printed test results or settings.  I went into Service Mode, and ran Self Test there.  I'm ready to disassemble it again, but do not know where to look for improper fit.  What would prevent any characters from being printed?  I'm using Windows XP drivers, and parallel port cable.

  • Could not access network location /hewlett-packard//.

when i try to install VueMinder_Pro_Setup_8.0.1 on my brand new HP omni 120 AIO PC i get this message "could not access network location /hewlett-packard//." Can anybody help me with this problem pls thx.

    Hello Turkseunie:
Wow new computer. I hope you enjoy it. What this message is telling is it is not picking up any signals from your router. Do you have any freinds that could help you set up your wireless router? In USA some wireless routers need to press a botton to connect the computers. Others might need a security code to connect to wireless routers provided by your Internet provider. Try moving the computer closer to wireless router. Then try it again.
If you do not have any close by nieghbors could help you. Than please call your internet service they will help you for sure eighter by comming to your house or by phone. Here where I live we had to call the Internet provider as we connected to the wireless router. To allow our computers to connect.
Your software insulation was a success it is working just fine. All need is to be able to pick up your signal that's all.

  • Print using LPR to Hewlett Packard Designjet 120nr

I am attempting to set up an LPR connection from OS X 10.5.2 to a Windows 2003 Server based queue.
When I add the printer, I am prompted for Server and queue name, this aspect is fine and I have set up other networked printers using this method o.k.
However, when I try to setup the designjet 120 using the same method, I am unable to find the Print Driver in the list of available files.
If I set the printer up selecting the HP IP Print option, the operating system automatically detects the HP Printer and makes the driver available for use.
Is it possible to access this 'built in' driver when configuring LPD printer connections?
Hewlett Packard do not make the driver available for download - they say that it is built in to Leopard. Apple state the same.
    Any help appreciated

I'm sorry if I was too brief with my explanation. The driver provided by HP contains code for the direct USB connection and code for the HP IP proprietary protocol. Since it was coded this way, it bypasses the "filter pipe" system in CUPS. If you'd like to read more, this type of print driver is called a monolithic driver in CUPS documents. A driver that makes use of the standard comm protocols provided by CUPS is called a "modern" (I call it a CUPS-) driver.
You can't get a non-CUPS driver to work by changing the comm protocol to LPD.
There is another option. You could set up the Windows server to be a postscript RIP/server:
    http://iharder.sourceforge.net/current/macosx/winmacprinter/
(Sorry, but I don't actually know if it will work with a Server Windows version.)

  • HP LaserJet 4 Plus

    Hello !
I have an HP LaserJet 4 Plus with a duplexer and can't find a driver that allows for use of the duplexer on my Mac.
Does anyone have any ideas ?
    Take Care
    Roy

    Roy,
I'm having a bit of trouble following your last message.
    I re downloaded the
printer driver again and the installation ran but:
I'm not sure what that means -- You ran the installer again. What happened? Did the installer give you an error message or did it finish the installation?
    2) I have 3 HP LaserJet 4 Plus V2.00 * I can use
these but they don't allow any installable options,
    the duplexer.
I'm lost here. Are you referring to PPDs, available choices when you go to add the printer or something else?
    3) I have a HP LaserJet 4 Gimp Version 5 it allows
the options but doesn't print anything. When you
send a print with this driver it goes to cyber space
This is might be a bit of a concern. If I combine this with the inability to get a SHA1 value or even an error message from the Terminal and the HP installer having giving you an error message (at least the first time you ran it), I am beginning to think there may be a problem with your system.
We can explore the possibility of system corruption as a last resort. I did some digging on the HP site and think I have some informatin that will be of use and some additional questions.
    1. The "W2 Invalid pers" error message you get when trying to use the duplexer is defined in thelist of error codes as The job was not printed because the requested personality, such as PostScript (MP), was not installed.
Install the language in which the files are sent, together with enough memory to support that language. Clear message by pressing SHIFT and Continue on the printer.Troubleshooting: a) is there a way to make sure the printer recognizes that the duplexer is installed and functioning? Is there a self test page that you can print that lists the duplexer as being recognized and is funcioning?
    b) how much memory do you have installed? HP says that it needs at least 4 MB for a duplex letter size page at 300 dpi and 12 MB at 600 dpi
    c) when you added the optional duplexer in the PPD, did you also set the memory section to match what you have installed in the printer?
    2. Printing using the Postscript module requires more memory than printing using the PCL language. Have you successfully printed a document using the duplexer using the PostScript option before? It may not be obvious so you might want to double check. The printer doesn't really care whether it gets PostScript or PCL. It will adapt.

  • HP Laserjet IIp plus printer driver

Hi Guys - need help locating a printer driver for HP Laserjet IIp Plus. Trying to get this thing attached to a blue iMac running OS 9.2. Have searched everywhere I can think of. Just hoping someone out there has something with 9.2 running same, or a good lead...
    Thanks in advance

Hi, John. HP offers no Mac drivers for the IIp or IIp+, probably because they were built with only a parallel-port interface, which Macs can't use. They are not PostScript printers, so even if you could connect yours to your Mac, it couldn't use the Apple or Adobe PostScript driver that some HP printers (e.g. my LaserJet 4M) can use.
I believe the only way you'll be able to use the IIp+ with any Mac will be to locate a used Infowave PowerPrint cable-and-driver package (the cable is essential; the driver alone would be of no value). But that will only help you on a Mac that can boot into OS 8.x or 9.x and has an ADB port, which no iMac does. And when it was new, PowerPrint was expensive: it cost more than many low-end printers, so most people just replaced their printers instead of bothering with PowerPrint. Even PowerPrint won't serve your needs unless you have an old ADB-equipped Mac to run it on, so you should probably plan to use a different printer instead of the IIp+.

  • Need driver for HP Laserjet 4 Plus

LaserJet 4 Plus, Windows 8, but Customer support says Windows 7 works. I have just upgraded from Vista to Windows 8 and have been unabvlke to find a driver for this workhorse printer. I can't believe that HP wants me to stop spending 132.99 on toner replacement and has stopped supporting. Saw previous post for Windows 7 but when I use Windows Update on my 2 day old Windows 8 Pavilionit hangs up the sytem for 2 hours. Finally had to 3 finger salute and still no listing for driver. Can anyone help? I hate to dump this reliable, and ecomomic HP printer. Best purchase ever when it was supported.

I'm in a similar position.  LaserJet 4 Plus and Windows 8.
Bullshark, the driver for LaserJet 4 Plus *is* listed.  You first have to click "Windows Update" (screenshot 1) during the 'Add Printer' process.  The list repopulates and will THEN include LaserJet 4 Plus (screenshot 2).
Will you let me know if that works out successfully for you?
My issue happens after that.  I get a "Driver was not Install" error message

i tried to get the installation disc for the camcorder but mac wont' recognize it becaue it is windows based i guess.
i just bought the camcorder a few months ago and when my computer crashed thought i'm finally getting a mac...it's been a costly venture which has resulted in more frustration than before my pc.
now the things i want to use with my mac that i thought would be even simpler...are not even useable...
    help

That camera shoots H.264 in an .avi wrapper.
You will have to transfer the files via the Finder.
Get a free copy of MPEG Streamclip and convert them to QuickTime .mov using the H.264 codec if you are presumably editing in iMovie.
Note that your list of video codecs won't look like mine as I have Final Cut Pro, but H.264 is definitely an option for you.

There are 2 "full garbage collections", one of reason "1" and one of reason "5".
For the first one "Old generation After " =238778016
For the second "Old generation After " =238778016
Thus, "Old generation Before garbage collection" of the second is higher than "Old generation After garbage collection". Why?
I expected all objects to be allocated in the "Eden" space. And therefore I did not expect to s

I agree but my current Hp support is not very good on JVM issues.

I am interested in the "-Xverbosegc" option for garbage collectionmonitoring.
I have been through the online document :

I would like to find out more about the garbage collection mechanismand need

We have 2 full garbage collections, one of Reason 5 and the next oneof Reason
    1.
What happened between these 2 garbage collections as we got : "Oldgeneration
After" of row 2 is higher than "Old generation Before" of row 1? Iexpected Objects
to be initially allocated in eden and so we could not get "old generation2modified
between the end of one garbage collection and before the next one.
Could you please clarify this issue and/or give more information aboutgarbage
collection mechanisms with the Hewlett-Packard Hotspot Java VirtualMachine. Release
    1.3.1.01.

  • Connecting Macbook to networked LaserJet 4 Plus

I have a Laserjet 4 Plus that is connected to the network via a Jetdirect card using IP. I am trying to get my Macbook to print to it and get a W2 Invalid Personality error.
I assume that the Mac is trying to talk via Postscript. I don't want to get the Postscript SIMM and memory for the one Mac that we have currently.
How should I configure the printer in OS/X forthis printer?

Try the included driver HP Laserjet 4 series Gimp-Print.
