Which way to overclock

hi all
ive recently just upgraded my cpu to a p4 3.0e prescott and my memory to corsair twinx1024-4000pro my question is which is the best way of getting the most from these components
im currently running ratio 1:1  200 fsb. am i best sticking to this and increasing the fsb or should i change the ratio ive noticed that i cant get the memory to run at ultra turbo either no matter what the latencies.
the highest fsb i get at 1:1 is 225 but at slow performance settings.
sandra max 3 reports mem bandwidth at 4170 at 225fsb , but at stock fsb200 i get 4750
how come?
i should just say my rig is watercooled see sig
thanks in advance

i agree with the king
but BE CAREFULL go one step at a time with the voltages.
PC4000 is KNOWN for not going over 220 - 225 on the fsb. look at my ram in my sig. i cant go over around 223 stable.
take the ddr back down to 400 not auto or 500.  turn off dynamic overclocking and set the CAS timings to manual.
oh and just so you know. the "performance mode"  it does effect the system even if your spd timings are set to manual. i dont know what it does, but it does something. so set it to fast or something.
set your cas timings to 2.5-3-3-8-4  or 2.5-3-3-4-8  or -6-8
the prescotts are not very good overclockers so you may have gotten a bad chip for overclocking.
you want overclocking go get a good northwood. with 30 caps.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can see your photos on any device using your ID and photo stream.
If you want to see them in a web browser you need to create a shared photo stream album and make it public.

  • Is there any way to overclock an A64 by adjusting the multiplier?

Is there any way to overclock an A64 by adjusting the multiplier?
    I have an Athlon64 3200+ (Socket 754) and a MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R.
Seems to be a sweet overclocker, but my RAM cannot run at much more than the normal 200 (400) MHz, so FSB overclocking is no good for me.
    /Salmoneus

hmm the a64 is locked so you cannot use a cpu multipier to have only cpu go faster..
i oc with the fsb....but noticed that i may actually be over running my power, at high oc's(233)  if i unplug at least 3 hard drives, and some fans it will run microsofts memmory tester...but not with them in.
you may be able to oc if you drop your mem speed down in bios to 333 or 200.
so when you oc the memm will clib from there...i have seen good results from that.
one person was able to catch my 232 results from dropping down to 200 mem speeds.

  • Not sure which way to go for transfer.....

First; let me say that I did search for the answer to this, but I'm not sure which way to go with a lot of the answers. I'm sorry I'm asking this question for the umpteenth time. Yes; I'm one of those that understands enough about computers to make me dangerous...
Our computers are set up on a home network. Before I got my iPod last year, we ripped all our CDs and saved them on a completely separate external drive named "M" (for music), so all 3 computers could have access to the information on the M drive.
I get my pod & have the office computer set up to be the 'main' iTunes location, since we purchased a USB2 hub for it. I quickly learned how to direct iTunes to 'pull' the music from the M file & understand how all that works. Life is good. I even took the time to put an album art file on the M drive & insterted everything into iTunes by 'hand'.
Bless my hubby's heart. Completely filled with computer envy, he just purchased me a brand spanking new shiney computer. Needless to say, with all these new bells and whistles, I can now use my computer as the 'home base' for all things iPod/iTunes instead of having to go downstairs to do updates, etc.
I looked up & printed out "How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer" from the Apple web site, which basically says to download everything onto my iPod's harddrive & do the transfer on the new machine.
I think what I'm trying to ask, is since all the music is located on an external drive:
When I download iTunes to iPod harddrive, are all the tags still in place? Will all the album art be correct, so when I download it onto the new computer, everything will be identical to what's on the old computer?
    --or--
Is there another trick I can do to have everthing the same on the new computer?
    --or--
Am I better off just having my computer go to the M drive & upload all the music onto my new computer & reload all the album art by hand again?
My real hesitation on this method is I have a lot of things on the M drive that I changed the tags on in iTunes, & I would really hate to go & search through everything again & redo what tags I can find wrong.
I know that this may sound like a lot of trivial questions, but with over 6,000 tracks, I'd really like the process to go as smoothly as possible.
And once again; I'm sorry if this seems like just another 'how do I transfer' question. As I was reading the search results, I didn't notice anything that dealt with external drives being involved & I don't know if any of that makes a differance or not in all of this.
Thank you SO MUCH for your time!!

    Hi
    I'm building a web application, ( Tomcat + JSF + Icefaces )
I got a bunch of methods that are being used in many places...
In which way should i store them , a Static class with static methods or an Instance of that class that will be stored in Application scope, or some other way of storing this class and accessing it?
    Thanks in advance...

Utility methods? Just use a final class with a private constructor and only static methods for that.

I answered that in your other thread and provided a link to the JDBC Dev Guide section that discusses how to work with LOBs and BFILEs.
Did you read that doc section?
Did you read my reply in your other thread?
In java a BLOB is just the locator that gives you access to the actual content. In your case you got access by selecting an existing BLOB locator and getting its inputstream. That inputstream is what gives you access to the actual blob content.
The locator is just that; it specifies the LOCATION of the blob content but it is NOT the content.

Since a couple of days I do have problems connecting WebAS 7.0 post SPS 14 (SOAMANAGER) WebServices: Client in C#, Service on WebAS
Which way in generating the Proxies are you using in VS 2008?
    a) ServiceReference as in .Net 3.5
    b) WebReference as in .Net 2.x
    c) SAP Enterprise service with ESR
I have tried a/b and constantly fail with message errors as "Unrecognized message version."

I certainly wouldn't call a blog "well documented".
But let's address it. He says the embedded number pad is gone. It is. That's all he says.
You, on the other tentacle, complain that fn-left/right/up/down aren't there any more. You also claim that things have been missing "for some time".
I have a Macbook (2006) and a MBP (June 2007) sitting here with all the logos on the keys. Not missing here. I have a new MBP (October 2008) also sitting here, no logos on the keys.
    Let's see...
Fn-down... yeah, certainly seems to do page down
Fn-up... yeah, certainly seems to do page up
Fn-right... yeah, certainly seems to go to the end of a line
Fn-left... yeah, certainly seems to go to the beginning of a line
So, what, exactly was the problem? Aside from you not actually testing anything?
and yes, I DID try again just now and proved that it has been removed from the hardware by looking at the keyboard viewer while holding down the function key.
I have no idea what hardware you're looking at... works fine here. You didn't actually test to see what happens when you hit the key, then?
Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
That would be the problem that doesn't exist, right?

  • New Mac Pro Graphics Cards - Which way to go???

    Hi Everyone,
Just looking at placing an order today for a new Mac Pro and have been considering it since they came out earlier this month. With the new graphics card availabilities I am kind of at a loss with which way to go and wanted to see what the opinion of the group would be. They offer the possibility of having multiple cards if you go with the low end ATI 2600 (256mb) then one can have up to eight displays. Or do I go with the slightly larger NVidia 8800 (500mb) which probably offers better overall performance. There is no notation stating that one can stack the NVidia card the same way as the ATI and I don't think I feel like dropping an extra almost $3000 on the highest end card offered so I am stuck trying to decide. I work primarily in video and photo work so the idea of multiple displays is appealing but not if there is a lack of overall performance. Using Motion a lot I find the graphics card is really crucial to render times, especially when using the motion blur within the project.
Any advice or considerations to be thought about would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Checked out Barefeats?

  • Why does the newest version not open to the homepage no matter which way you set it up?

The latest version of Firefox recently installed on my PC. Now, no matter which way I set the home page it does not open to that. I simply get a blank tab. Yes, I have set the page correctly and even told Firefox to open to the home page. It does not work. It will accept the settings, and I have rebooted a few times too. When I click the home icon, it opens the page so I know it is set up correctly.
