Who answers questions? Sony or those paid to run interference?

So I know phone users post and try to help. How about those who answer questions and defend Sony. Are they paid by Sony or just those who follow the party line. If I ask a question, will I get the party line answer, since this is a Sony forum?

Sorry but we do not get paid and I most certainly do not follow any party line - If I were to follow then I would never give any help with regards to unlocking bootloaders and manually flashing or installing root and even recoveries - When I do defend it is because of spam or foul language or the same old questions about updates which gets really boring - Please explain to me how are we supposed to know about updates - There are plenty of threads on this but lazy members can't be bothered to search and post a new thread and so we give the same answers but they don't like this as it doesn't answer their question - Are you expecting an answer plucked from thin air and hope it's the answer you want, or were you expecting members like me to say we get paid

  • Answering questions in forums

The Chicago Tribune had an interesting article on people who answer questions on forums like this -- in fact the Adobe forums are mentioned toward the end of the article:

Perhaps I'll confine my future posts to comments on the Challenge.

I guess I'm lucky -- the DSL box was installed right next to our driveway. It even shares our street address :)
Bob Carruth -- Your description of your technology problems certainly sounds like the 21st century to me! I just got through transferring a computer Tuesday to one of our offices to replace another computer with a dead hard drive (all our equipment is off warranty now); and today, the replacement computer's hard drive also died. The drives lasted just days past the 3-year warranty period. We started the year with our network no longer talking to our printers. An upgrade to our virus-scanning software created a conflict with an Access database that many of our staff use, resulting in their inability to use those databases--that's still not resolved. It goes on. What's sad is that we've come to expect such ongoing problems in this new century.
Bob Warren -- Please don't stop helping people on the Adobe Forum! After struggling, without success, to find answers in the PSE manual that came with my new software, I was really ready to give up on Adobe Photoshop Elements when I stumbled into this Forum. Nancy Soderman was kind enough to answer my plea for help that same night and solved my problem immediately. Knowing that I had this source of friendly assistance gave me the courage to give it another try. I've been using PSE for several years now, and it has made my life so much better. So, to all of you who have been kind enough to donate hours of your expertise to help people you don't even know, I applaud your generosity and can only offer you my sincere "Thanks, for all your help! You're wonderful!"

  • How to change an "answered question" icon to and "open" one

An hour ago this morning, I re-opened a thread of mine that had already been answered. Unfortunately, I could not easily locate the instruction or button that allows me to convert the "answered question" icon to an "open question" icon. I want to change it so those people who filter their screens to view only "open question" posts will find mine.
Please advise if this can be done. If so, how can it be done?
    Thanks, in advance.

Unless the question is the identical question, please open a new discussion topic. Otherwise, you will present us with a long chain of discussion to wade through to find your new question, and I know I for one...if I think I've already worked through a questions...don't want to wade through it again.
If it is indeed the same question, it is not as clear. It must be the IDENTICAL problem or situation you are facing to "reuse" a thread.
I recommend...especially if you are at all on a different tangent...referring to your earlier thread with a link. State your new question clearly in the title, and present your case succinctly, with links.
What sort of efficiency are you trying to achieve by reopening a question that has been "answered?" If you have already marked responses as helpful or as answers, there's very little pay for considering your reopened question. (joke) Help the Forum economy by opening a new thread!

  • Answering Questions or Proposal of answers

    Hi All
As per the forum general guide lines and rules, I think we should not mark our own reply as proposed Answer or the reply to our post as Answer.
If my above statement is correct
    Then
Why we are seeing these available for the posts. Can this be disabled.
    else
         Please ignore this post.
    Nothing is Permanent... even Knowledge....

Self proposing doesn't look good. If a question has got a proposed answer, many people (including me) skip that question assuming a correct answer is proposed. But, if I look into the thread, the answer is self proposed. That means, he himself thought
his answer is correct but nobody else !!
Ok, if the answer is 100% correct, then self proposing is fine. But, I have seen many people who simply propose their own answers. So, overall, I think, this feature should be turned off.
Please mark this post as answer if it solved your problem. Happy Programming!
    Interesting idea.
    Reasons to self propose:
1 - You want the asker to know that you're trying to answer the question. So you want your suggestion to be seriously considered and tried ASAP (versus having the asker not try it and keep getting frustrated).
2 - Nobody else is proposing your answer. You replied to try to answer it. Time has gone by, nobody proposed your answer and nobody marked it as an answer. Rather than feel like you wasted your time (and possibly give up on the forums),
you propose it as an answer to try to get a moderator or the asker to notice it and thus mark it as the answer.
3 - You don't want to leave it unanswered. Similar to #2, you tried answering the question and nobody is proposing your answer, marking it as an answer, offering an additional answer, or offering more details about why your answer doesn't
apply. The Asker has obviously moved on, and you don't want it in the list of unanswered questions when you obviously tried to answer it. So you mark it as a proposed answer so that you can focus on the questions that are still unanswered.
4 - Your post got moved (especially into the "Off Topic" forum). If you tried to answer a question, and your post got moved (such as into the Off Topic forum), then you might want to propose it as an answer just because that makes those
posts (that actually have an answer in that forum) easier to find... and thus are more likely candidates to ever be moved into the correct forum.
    ===============
    Reasons to not self propose:
1- You don't want others to not look at the question. As Adavesh mentioned, people who are trying to answer questions might skip it because they think it might have already been answered. However, as a counter step, the Asker, Moderator,
or Proposer, can unpropose a proposed answer. So if the Asker really cares, they can clear the status so that this isn't an issue.
2 - You don't get Achievement credit and medals for it. I wouldn't make it a habit of self proposing. As in Naomi's link above, these two people who self proposed (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/transactsql/thread/e454b2c4-04c6-4d5a-8c5b-8920866ee7c4)
have made it so that they don't get credit toward a "Proposed Answerer" achievement. For example, for the Proposed Answerer 2 Silver Achievement medal, they need to be proposed by other community members 500 times. They'll never get there if they propose
their own answers. (Granted that this might not be a big deal to many people.)
3 - The community doesn't really like it. It's obvious from conversations like this forum post (http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/Profile/thread/01fe255a-c18c-489d-86e8-7fbe88630c3e/) that
you shouldn't constantly self propose simply because lots of people dislike the behavior. Generally you want the community to favor your behavior. Because of this and the above reasons, I would limit self-proposing to the conditions set above in the "Reasons
    to self propose" section.

  • CCX using Place Call to hunt group. Unable to determine who answered

I'm trying to use the CCX to place a call to a CUCM hunt group and then once the answered, determine which member of the hunt group answered the call.
I have used several of the Get Info steps, including:
    Get Call Contact Info
    Get Enterprise Call Info
    Get Contact Info
However, all of those steps always just report back the CUCM hunt pilot number, instead of the actual line group member who answered the call.  Can anyone think of a way to determine the extension of the line group member that answered the call ?
If it matters, I am using CCX 9.0.2su1

I lack a system to test this on at the moment but perhaps try this CUCM Service Parameter. The question is whether CTI Manager will follow this logic or if this is only respected by the CDR flat file export.
Show Line Group Member DN in finalCalledPartyNumber CDR Field
This parameter determines whether the the finalCalledPartyNumber field in call detail records (CDR) shows the directory number (DN) of the line group member who answered the call or the hunt pilot DN. Valid values specify True (the finalCalledPartyNumber in CDRs will show the DN of the phone that answered the call) or False (the finalCalledPartyNumber in CDRs will show the hunt pilot DN). This parameter applies only to basic calls routed through a hunt list without feature interaction such as transfer, conference, call park, and so on. If a feature is involved in the call, then the hunt pilot DN will show in the finalCalledPartyNumber field regardless of the setting in this parameter. This parameter does not apply to Cisco CallManager Attendant Console.
       This is a required field.

  • This might be a simple question.   On those sites that do not differentiate between models when on the internet I.e. Facebook when after your comment and you cannot hit "enter" on an iPad for examp. And speed is slow to connect.  What is = to post?

This might be a simple question. On those sites that do not differentiate between CRT, laptop, tablet etc. such as an iPad Mini and using the Facebook site fir example when going to post a comment and you do not have a enter button on the IPad and the speed is slow how do you get your comments to post if we do not have a enter button?

  • Okay. Question for all those IT wirzards (

Okay. Question for all those IT wirzards (& iTunes) experts out there. Anyone know why a playlist (Purchased) keeps dropping off my playlists in iTunes??l This has happened at least 15-20 times to me in the past couipe of years. Fofrtunately for me, I saved these songs to an external hard drive, so retrieval won't be so painful. Guess I just want to know how to avoid this going forward.

Just that one playlist goes missing and no other content? No idea. But it is clear you ought to have a backup so you can restore the database should it happen again.

  • Is there any way to delete my answered question?

i posted a question a while back... and just to let everybody knows im just new on the forum line... is it posible to delete my answered post? thanks

    Hi, adiv -
    No.
    As Niel stated -
"...the information in the thread may help people who have the same question or problem in future."
These forums work as well as they do because information is posted publicly and remains available to others who may have a similar question. Deleting an answered question would defeat that purpose, and would also change the basic nature of Discussions from a sharing community to a very self-centered mode.

  • Answering questions on the forums

    Hello everyone,
I am preparing to give a targeted resumé to Apple in the coming weeks and had the idea that my knowledge of apple products or more importantly ability to find relevant information may serve Apple in the best way if I can be paid for answering questions on these forums and any other forums Apple identifies as representative of their services. So my question is this: is it possible to be paid a wage for answering questions on forums? This need not be an in house operation, as I think my internet connection at home would suffice. I also speak fluent French and could answer questions of a high level of sophistication in French. Alors c'est possible?
    Merci et Thank you

But yesterday in these Communities you asked a question "Where can I find the manual for my machine" — which you could have found the answer to with a simple search like THIS.

  • MSI never answers questions

Our company have bought a lot of MSI boards over the years, but now we are going to start buying boards elsewhere.
MSI boards are usually good boards, but whenever there is a problem with a board, MSI never answer questions that we may have.
I understand that thousands of people are writing them emails everyday, but Asus, Gigatech, Epox etc. always answers our questions, even if it take a week or two or three.
As of this date we have never recieved 1 (not 1) reply from MSI ever, and that is not acceptable.
For instance - the last month we have tried to get an answer to why Adaptec RAID and MSI k7D Master do not work - but as always MSI do not answer.
My advice - do not go for MSI, but buy from Asus, Epox or someone else.

Yes, I understand your frustration. Personally, I've had an ok experience with MSI so far. As it stands, I've had one board go bad on me and I had it replaced from the supplier no problem. It took about a week.
However, I can see why you're fed up with MSI. They have been nothing but distant in relation to the many suggestions that have been repeated ad nauseum on this message board, for instance, such as was the case with the PCI speeds. It took many months for MSI to even try to fix that problem. With BIOS 2.6, I hear the problem has been slightly corrected but still needs a lot more in order to join the ranks of other more worthy boards.
I too am disappointed in MSI. With the millions of $ they possess, you would think that they would set a decent customer help line with a bunch of English-speaking people. Instead, we are met with people who do not even understand one of the most widely spoken languages in the world and therefore cannot even fix whatever problems or conflicts arise.
Abit, Asus and other board makers have proven that the PCI bug can easily be fixed. However, MSI engineers have done absolutely nothing in good faith until now. After being a witness to their amazingly blatant indifference to the message board members' complaints, I have no choice but to agree.
What is more, Asus does publish beta BIOSes while MSI does not. So if one major bug is the process of being corrected, anybody at Asus can enjoy the fixes right away, while we have to wait an eternity ro reap the benefits.
Even though my personal experience so far has been good, I have to admit that I have not experienced the frustration you have unfortunately encountered due to the fact that I haven't used any RAID or SCSI cards. I did not see how poor the scores were or which improvements were needed. In fact, I don't have a single card plugged into my motherboard right now.
However, with my next upgrade, that will most likely change and since I cannot seem to rely on such a big company as MSI to correct the problems for which they are responsible on their own products, I can't see this as being an encouraging sign for me to spend more of my hard-earned money on faulty products that I'm beta-testing, as well as non-existent customer support and late or non-existent patches/BIOS updates.
It is never too late for a company to change its image, but in reality, MSI screwed themselves over by deciding to ignore the public, which has been paying MSI employees during all this time. It is sad that the state of certain company ethics is poor.
The differences between each nForce board were minimal at best. I will therefore see no problems with switching products. I'll definitely return to MSI if and only if they ever change their ways. For now, I'm disappointed and will be shaking my head in disgust until the situation improves to my satisfaction, if that ever occurs.
    Harsh, yes. But also true.

I just added a password to my iPhone 4s yesterday and guess what? I forgot it. I kept guessing and guessing until it was (and is now) disabled. I tried the restoration method but it says I need to enter my password. But for some reason it still says on my laptop that I am installing a software update (I am on iOS 8.1 and was going to update until this happened.). My iPhone does not say sync in progress or anything like that, it just says 'iPhone is Disabled Connect to iTunes' Will it work after software update? What do I do?
