Why am I getting getting charged for my iMovie on my Macbook Pro that I just bought.. I thought it was free.

I just purchased a new Macbook Pro Retina literally 2 days ago, Wednesday, November 13, 2013.. upon getting it I decided to do all the upadate to it which included some for OS X and several for the iWorks and iLife apps.. AWESOME.. now this is my first Mac, so I'm still learning things.. So I fired up the updates and figured I would let them go while I was at work.. only to come home and find that there was some issue with Garageband and iMovie when downloading/installing.. not sure when the issue took place cause I wasn't here.. I do know that when I went to run the applications it said that they were both damaged and needed to be deleted and reinstalled.. Okay, no big deal, I know how this works cause of my familiarity with iPads and iPhones.. upon downloading Garageband it say would you like to buy it.. not a big deal cause the button used to download said "Download." This was not the case with iMovie, however.. Upon going to download it, I realized that it has a price of $14.99 on the download button and when clicking, it clearly is going to charge me.. this is disheartening.. and I'm not quite sure what to do.. Upon looking all over Apples website, I seen where they said to click on the receipt to report issue with this purchase.. however I do not feel like I should purchase this just to report it to get compensation for something that Apple clearly stated was free in their last Keynote as well as all over the internet.. To me this is false advertisement.. What do I do?

  • I purchased creative suite about 3 years ago for my macbook pro and have just bought an iMac and was wondering if and how to install creative suite onto my computer?

I am aware that I could not use both devices at the same time and from what I've read on here, once you've bought creative suite you may install it onto two devices. I'm just wondering how I go about installing onto my iMac, also with consideration that it is a older version of Creative Suite.

  • Why did I get charged for the gift card from the student deal with macbook pro?

Why did I get charged for the $100 gift card student deal that came with the macbook pro? I was told that it would be taken credited off my credit card however; that has not happened. Am I missing something? Have other people been charged for this as well?

The same thing happened to me but it made sense.
I ordered a MBPR on Jun 12 for $2879 which qualified for the free student gift card. The gift card was available to ship (delivers June 20 - June 21) but the MBPR wasn't available until a month later (deliverys July 3 - July 10). Instead of holding the gift card until the MBPR was ready, Apple charged me $100 for the card then shipped it to me.
About a month later when the MBPR was ready, Apple charged me $2779 then shipped it. In the end, I was charged the correct amount $2779 + $100 = $2879.
Why did Apple do this? I suspect that some people have cheated Apple by ordering a Mac to get the promotional gift card then canceled their order after the gift card was spent. Apple is trying to protect itself.
BTW, if you return the mac then you're expected to return the gift card. If you've spent any amount of the card then Apple will deduct this from your refund.

  • HT201272 Why did I get charged for dowloading music to my iPhone that I already purchased?

Why did I get charged for dowloading music to my iPhone that I already purchased on my PC?

    Thanks for the response!
Since I only have one AppleID and since I'm sitting at the computer showing the previously purchased songs, I'm guessing your third response is the accurate.  I logged onto iTunes Store and "reported a problem" with the two songs and am awating their reply.
I'm guessing that it's something I did (or didn't do) when I downloaded the songs from iTunes Store to my iPhone.  I forgot to synch these two songs from my PC to my iPhone before travelling.  However, I noticed that the two songs were listed on my iPhone iTunes application in a playlist called "recently purchased."  I clicked on the two songs and they were downloaded to my iPhone (which I would expect); I then received an email receipt for the charges for the songs (which I didn't expect.)

Ok, so i bought a 16GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM for my late 2011 13" MacBook Pro whose memory runs at 1067 MHz (I was also told that late 2011 MBPs run at 1333MHz, is mine an exception, if so, why?)... Im looking for all possibilities to close the compatibility gap because computer freezes at boot and was wondering if there was anything i could do to get this 16GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM to work at 1067MHz or somehow get my computer to run at 1333MHz?...

You don't have a late 2011 MB Pro.
    You have a 2010 version.  Your MB doesn't support 16GB.  8GB Max.
That's what it shows on your about this MAC.
    You need to return the RAM and get 8GB ( 2 X 4GB ) 1066MHz.
Your system bus is set to 1066MHz.
You're having issues because you've installed more RAM than your MB can support.  It's only reading 4GB per bank which totals to 8GB and not 16GB.

That's because the Mac, OS X and the iLife apps that came preinstalled on the Mac all belong to the previous owner. The previous owner needs to call Apple care and have their Apple ID disassociated from the Mac. Then the hard drive needs to be totally erased and OS X and the iLife apps reinstalled using OS X Recovery.

I have a HP Deskjet D4200 series printer that I used with my iBook G4 and I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro 13.5" and I would like to use this printer with my new lap top.  When I use the disc to try to install the printer driver, I get a message that "I can't open the application HP Installer because the Power PC applications are no longer supported.  I am not sure what all that means but is there any way to use this printer with my new computer?
    Thanks

It would help to post this in a more proper form. This is for the iTunes family of stores.

  • Why I still have to pay for iWork on my new MacBook Pro ?

I bought a new MacBook Pro in last Friday ,25 October. But there is no iWork pre-installed in the system.(ps. The system is OS X 10.9 now) When I try to install iWork from App Store ,,it shows I still have to pay for $19.99 for Numbers. Could u tell what happened and what should I do?

You shouldn't have to pay.  Try these steps to solve your problem - apparently you aren't the only one with this issue:

    Hope that helps!

  • Why can't I copy my 250GB iTunes folder to my Macbook Pro's SSD when I have close to 400GB free?

It should be noted that I formerly used over 200GB of the SSD. However I've deleted all those files so I can restore my iTunes library from Time Machine and then move it to an external hard drive for use. It seems that with solid state storage drives the amount of disk space available is also a function of whatever the computer is doing in memory and so it is effectively less precisely when you need it. Is there something I need to do like defrag my SSD so that I can actually make use of the free space that I've gotten? I've already restarted my computer.

If you're trying to add a large amount of data all at once, and you get an alert of insufficient space, then from the menu bar, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Time Machine
If the padlock icon is closed, click it to unlock the settings and authenticate. Turn Time Machine OFF, then back ON and close the preference pane. Restart the computer. Test.

  • Why do I get charged for data while I am connected to WiFi?

I am having issues with data usage on one of the 5 iPhones on my plan and have been keeping track of the data on all of the phones on my plan. I have noticed that I am being billed for data at night while I am sleeping and my phone is connected to my home wifi. Why is this? Is it just a way for Verizon to make more money?

Are you certain that you are connected to your home WiFi? If you are truly connected to WiFi, then the data connection from VZW should be disconnected. I would recommend checking your settings to ensure you are truly indeed connected to WiFi in your home and if so, then I would then suggest contacting Tier 2 technical support at VZW by calling 611 from another device so that you can work with support with your phone while on the line with them.
NOTE: iOS devices do NOT support WPS directly and if you are attempting to connect your home WiFi in this fashion, you will need to log into your home router and get the exact Paraphrase for your router and enter that into your iPhone.
Hope this makes sense and helps.

  • Why did I get charged for a iPhone 4s with AppleCare Warranty?

It was for the back plate that was falling off. No damage, but the Apple "Genius" said that the warranty doesn't cover the backplate!?!? Anyone else have this issue?

And this is AppleCare PLUS warranty -- which should be even better I would think....

  • Where do you get drivers for windows 7 running on macbook pro late 2011

I tried using the troubleshooter but they just say need driver nothing else

If you use bootcamp to put windows 7 in your macbookpro, Your can use the Mac OS X CD Installer that comes in the box when you bought your mac just go to windows Operating system then put in the CD its automatically detected and install the drivers you need, but if you dont have the Mac OS X installer, you can get the drivers using the bootcamp application.

  • Can I use old version adobe acrobat 7.0 Professional for my macbook pro. I just bought this software and is non returnable.

I just bought this software from RAFT teacher resources and it's non returnable. I don't know that it doesn't support macbook pro.  Is there anyway can you help me if you can. I don't want to waste it.  Thanks.  Best regards, Vivian.

There is absolutely nothing you can do with this software if your Mac OS version is newer than 10.6; Macs less than about 5 years old cannot run older versions of Mac OS . It is no more use to you than a brick. It is an extraordinary thing to sell. Acrobat is now at version 11. Version 7 is more than 10 years old. I had a look but I don't see this on the RAFT store.
