Why am I not getting any input signal into logic X or GarageBand from my audio interface?

Hello all,
I'm completely new to all this so I will try my best here to give all the details needed.
So, I am using a Mac mini (2013 model: i7 overclocked at 2.6, 16 gbram) and a focusrite saffire pro 24DSP. Overall both are in perfect working order.
My problem, however, is that I am seemingly unable to get any form of signal from my saffire into either Logic X or GarageBand. I am trying to record guitar lined in and I have set all the settings in logic to what I think is right (software monitoring checked, output channels selected, saffire selected for both input and output) and I have set up my saffire mix control - I spent days reading the manual and watching online tutorials.
The saffire mix control is set up thus:
Input 1 - instrument
Daw 1+2 = GarageBand
Daw 3+4 = Logic X
Sample rate 41Khz
Master Output = stereo monitor mix (line outs 1 &2 to my monitor speakers)
Output 3+4 headphones
Is there anything missing here?
As far as this all goes, when I plug in my guitar I can get a very clear "raw" signal from the saffire mix control, but when I then go to set up a track in either DAW and assign the necessary line ins and outs, no matter what I do I cannot get an input signal, not even a partial one (I have the monitoring and record armed options checked btw). I am close to giving tearing my hair out.
I'm sure I am just missing something out?

I've plugged into the interface a mic and an electric guitar.
I'm not sure what I did but the guitar is coming through (though it shows no signal on the interface). Mic input level on line, mic registers a tiny bit of sound when I hit the mic (on only one channel) but doesn't register any vocals when mic input is turned up to the max.
Odd thing: stereo/mono button reversed that is when the button is pushed in it equals stereo on the head phones when it says it should be mono and when the button is left unpushed it equals mono when it says it should be stereo.
Monitor is on and volume is at max.
GB system preferences don't list Input 1 or/and 2. Where do I find them?
I've tried everything I can think of. It feels as if I just need to find the right switch but I don't know where to look...

Insertion of APDivs/Layers are deprecated in CC. Historically, APDivs caused many, many problems for people who didn't understand they were not intended to be used as a primary layout tool. Look at FluidGrid Layouts.

Why am I not getting any alert sounds in Lion?

I just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion 10.7.3 and find that I am not getting any alert sounds. Mail sounds work, voice notification [as in giving me the time on the hour and other spoken alerts] works, but simple things like trash emptying, taking items out of the dock or Finder side bar don't work at all.
I gone to System Prefs many times to try and tweak some things. Discovered that I had a lot of old Xounds sounds, so I deleted those. I'm at a real loss here folks, so if someone can point me in the right direction, I shall be forever thankful!

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

If no joy... Try Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.

Why do I not get any alerts on my phone but I get them on my iPad?

I recently got an iPad today and was syncing all my apps onto my iPad that I have on my iPhone 4s. But now I don't get any notifications or alerts on my phone, they all go straight to my iPad. How do I get the alerts back onto my phone.

I figured it out lol. the "headphones" was the giveaway. the headphones plug was full of lint. so I cleaned it up and it seems to be working fine. Thanks for the replys!

M-Audio Fast Track Ultra - not getting any input!

I have been using M-Audio Fast Track Ultra to do some basic recording in GarageBand '09. I've never had a problem, but today i cannot get an audio signal to input from a mic or instrument. It seems that GarageBand is automatically setting the track recording level to zero and is greying it out. i can no longer control it. The audio OUTPUT works fine and i can use the fast track to monitor, but there is not input. btw, i tried using the built in audio on the MacBook and it works fine. is this a setting issue with Fast Track somehow? can anyone help trouble shoot this issue for me? Thanks!

I use a MacBook Pro and an HTC phone and now I'm not getting any texts that are e-mailed to me from people with iPhones.

I don't have unlimited texting so I have those who text me a lot send their text messages to my e-mail address [email protected]
I reply through the gmail app on my phone and it's been working out fine for the past year. The other day I was experimenting with iMessage on my MacBook and i responded to a few messages from people with iPhones through my MacBook. I didn't like it so I logged out because suddenly I wasnt getting e-mailed those messages like I was before. Now that I'm logged out I can recieve any messages and a friend says that it auto responds with "this person can't be reached with iMessage at this time"

yes other people can send an email to me through their text message app on their iphones and it works fine. theres just one person who cannot and she lives in a different state. i did tell her to delete the entire thread of messages that i have with her but i'm not sure if she did it correctly and may still be replying to a message that i sent through iMessage days ago. i just sent her a message about turning on her MMS. i am also asking her to send the messages to a completely different address that she doesnt have in her phonebook so hopefully that will work.

Can not get any color swatches into Gradient Swatch panel.

I've tried dragging, clicking dragging and only get the circle/line-thru-it. And there is no New Gradient Swatch option anywhere that I can see.
Listen: I've now spent over 4 hours online -- today alone! -- reading instructions that simply do not work. After 4 years of InDesign work and design changes made because I can't get two colors to simply gradient, its time for this function to work for me.

You have at least two possibilites to add gradients to your swatches:
1. Select an Object with a gradient applied. (Take care to have the gradient part selcted in the stroke/fill part in the tool panel.) Got to the Swatch Panel and in the menu of the panel select "New Gradient Swatch…"
or
2. In the swatch panel menu got to "New gradient Swatch…", edit the color stoppers, add some ore remove some and click on the add or ok button.

Why am I not getting full clip imported into Mocha from AE CC?

First time attempting to try out Mocha. Using Adobe CC
I've been following tutorials on bringing a clip from AE CC into MOCHA:
Select the clip and go to 'Animation':
Then 'Track with Mocha'.
Mocha then opens and has an import menu.
PROBLEM: In the import menu, it appears that all the tutorials are showing that a person can select the keyframes they wish to import (ex. 0 through 465 is automatically there in the tutorials). My import menu shows 0 through 0 and WILL NOT let me change them..It's like it's locked out. If I choose to bring in the clip anyway, it appears to only have brought in one keyframe and is not possible to scan through the timeline...because there is nothing to scan through.
Perhaps I haven't registered it or something. Same problem on a co-workers CC account-they also just trying it for the first time. Thanks for the help.

Thanks gents for your responses! After getting a response from Mocha as well, it appears that I needed to have it as an 'image sequence' like you said Rick. Mocha claims that if your Quicktime player will read the media/clip that Mocha will as well (as long as you have the correct/updated codecs) That's not been the case for me...and I'm pretty sure I'm up to date. A quick google search of 'importing image sequences to After Effects' and then sending to Mocha again. And I'm good. I exported as TIFF. Mocha reads the timeline fine, with a little bit of blur...but I'm trying the CC version out before I upgrade to Mocha Pro. Thanks again and hope this helps someone else in the future.

Why can I not get this table data into Excel?

I want to use Excel to analyse some data from the local newspaper. The table of figures looks like this:
I've used the 'print' function from the online newspaper to create the pdfs, then run OCR. I can highlight the text and copy/paste it into a text document without any trouble, but I'd really like to have the data keep its columnar format. When I highlight a part of the table then use the right-click menu to 'save as table' or 'copy as table' or 'Open data in spreadsheet', nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

I would suggest you to try Acrobat XI once. The export quality with Acrobat XI is remarkably improved than it's predecessors.

Not only do web pages not load properly but we're doing calculus on-line and only 1 video can be viewed at a time. last week we didn't have problem. wish i could call someone. not getting any help.

a number of site say done and we see a blank page. on-line calculus class, last week could view more than 1 video at a time now only 1 can be viewed. this course need to be completed by may 3. career builders some of the drop downs aren't working. need to find a job. these are serious errors that we did not experience before. we haven't updated to 4.0. now i see the one's who have are having these problems. daughter can't gt to e-mail. wish i could talk to someone. i'm going to try the live session at 2 but i'm not a techy. can take care of most problems, but this seems beyond me. HELP

If you are wondering why you are not getting any responses, it is because you have vented a complaint without any details that make any sense or give anyone something to work on.
If you want help, I suggest actually detailing what has happened, with versions of software etc. Anything that would let us assist.
As a start I am guessing that you have not really got the hang of "How it all works". Firstly download the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf from under the Help menu. Read that and view the Video Tutorials in the same place. A good addition would be the iWork 09 Missing manual book and something to help you learn how to use your Mac.

Dear sirs...
i created an application to upload files to the database using JDeveloper 10.1.2.1.0 and UIX. The field used to store the files is an intermedia field.
Whenever i upload the file greater than 2M i get an error message. i modified the application such that it uploads 5M. now for attachments greater than 5M i get no error messages at all. the uploaded file is truncated to 5M and i do not get any error message.
my question is:
why i am not getting any error message??? what are the possible causes of this??? Does any one face such an error???

I haven't heard of such a limitation. I would recommend creating a reproducible testcase and opening a TAR on Metalink so our support engineers can help debug the issue, report a bug if you are encountering one, and help you determine a possible workaround. Thanks.
