Why are MP3's so difficult on a Mac

I do not understand why it is so hard to make an MP3 on a Mac using Apple software. Why should my workflow have 5 steps just to make an audio file that everyone can read. Apple shows this as the proper workflow:

It's not usually that hard. If you just need to convert one or a few tracks rather than a daily batch process and the tracks are AIFF, AAC or WAV, just drag the track(s) into iTunes, set the iTunes Importing preference for "MP3", and use the "Convert" menu command.
Alternatively, there are a number of utilities, some freeware and some shareware, that can covert a track from another format to MP3. Search MacUpdate and you should find something that would work for you.

No, this is not the case. I know where i purchased the movie and I also know movies cant be added to the cloud such as music, TV shows can. The instance happened during the dowload. I think that depending which computer is up and running and the bandwith allocated on either network, which ever computer that finishes first is the one that gets the movie. Just a thought. So next time I will ensure my IMAC is not running. I think that fixes it.

Why are Apps taking up space on my Mac in iTunes when I have iCloud?

The Apps in iTunes on my Mac take up a lot of disk space. Why are they there at all? I use iCloud to backup my iPhone and iPad. iTunes Store keeps my purchase history. So, why are the Apps taking up space on my computer?

Why are mp3 attachments no longer sounding?

After an erase and install of Tiger, emails with mp3 attachments are inaudible. If I double click the mp3 icon Quick Time will play them, but not the player in the email body! Alert sounds work OK.

I couldn't solve the problem so I simply backed up, erased, and reinstalled everything! Mp3's are audible again.

Why are mp3 icons appearing on my desktop when closing firefox

I unsuccessfully tried to download ringtones, now when i close firefox these ringtone icon appear on my desktop.

I deleted the download.sqlite files twice, but they keep reappearing in the profile directory when i open it. just like the icons do in my desktop.]

Updated to OS X 10.9.2, why are my email folders in "On My MAC" are empty?

I just updated to OS X 10.9.2 last night. I couldn't find some of my personal email folders. I finally found them in "On My MAC"; however, the email folders are empty - all the emails that were previously filed in those folders are missing. How do I get these emails back in my folders?

Why are filled fields blank when opening in Macs?

I can create a form in Acrobat, fill in the fields, enable it for Reader, put it online for downloading, and they view fine on a PC in the browser. However, when opened in Macs or the iPhone, the fields are blank. Anything special I should tell the customers so it works on a Mac? Right now I'm not sure what app they're using to view them.

I just did a quick test. I opened the file in Acrobat. Reader, and Preview on the Mac. They all showed the field contents when initially viewed. When I made a change to a field in Preview and saved the file, the field contents do not display when subsequently opened in Acrobat/Reader. This is a well know bug in Preview. In short, Preview corrupts the fields, making the contents not visible. This can be partially corrected by exporting the form data to a file and reimporting, but is does not undo all damage. It does make the data visible, however. You can also run a script to effectively do the same thing.
What you should tell folks is not to use Preview to make changes. Instead, use Acrobat. Reader can make changes and then save the modified document if you apply usage rights to the document with Acrobat: Advanced > Extend Features In Adobe Reader...

Why are files divided with upgrade from old mac to mba?

I transferred all my files and applications from a MacBook to a MacBook Air running Lion about two months ago. I ended up with a divided system and can only access some files on one side and other files on the other side. Each side is password protected.
How do I dissolve this partition without losing anything?

I feel like we might be using the word "partition" in the wrong context here, so hopefully you can elaborate. In computing terms a partition would indicate a physical (or software) based division of a storage solution, such as your hard drive. For example, Boot Camp partitions a hard drive to create an OS X and a separate Windows environment.
What it sounds like you're experiencing is you have two different user accounts, one that was on the MacBook Air (prior to the migration) and then a separate user account that was brought over from the MacBook after the migration?
Is that correct? Be happy to help with additional clarification.

Why are Intel updates always fat binaries

I don't understand. Why are all the updates for Intel based Macs fat binaries? Is there a reason that they're not Intel only binaries? Possibly Rosetta needs the PPC versions? If not it seems like such a of waste bandwidth and hard drive space.

Just guessing, but that sounds about right. For example, some Safari plugins (e.g. Shockwave) are still PowerPC only - Safari won't pick this up unless it's run in Rosetta mode.

All one gets from the download drop-down menu is:
(480p), (240p) or (360p) for example and the name of the video of course.
The way it is now, I cannot identify the type of video I am downloading as I could before.

Your assumptions are incorrect. Not all Youtube videos are offered in other formats; some are only offered in FLV format. Generally, only the very HD ones are offered in MP4. The format in which videos are offered are the decision of Youtube and/or the original poster of the video.
I opted to not pay for the VDH converter. There are FREE converters that will convert FLV to other formats, but they do not interface with VDH. Even the VDH converter is a 2-step process (in both manual or automatic mode). The converter that is included free with VDH will put an ugly icon/watermark on your converted video--every frame of the video. To find a free converter, just Google "free flv converter" (with the quotation marks).

You can share MP3, AIFF, WAV, AAC, and radio station links, but you cannot share iTunes Store Audio Books, Audible spoken word content, or QuickTime sound files.

Why Are My Bounced Audio Projects So Large in Size?

I have been bouncing completed audio projects for many months now in Logic Express 9 and they have always been reasonably sized MP3 files (10 MBs or less). The music I have been bouncing is relatively short in length. The files I have most recently bounced are no different in song length or form than any other previous project, yet the file size of each new MP3 is at least 10 times as large as what I'm used to. I have not adjusted any settings in the Bounce screen so, needless to say, I'm a bit confused as to why the MP3s have jumped in size. Anybody have any ideas?

Hi, I don't know if you have checked this, but just in case.
When you bounce audio projects you have to set the beginning and the end . If you don't the lenght of the mp3 can be very long.

Why are people so crazy about XML publisher? Maybe there are things I am not aware of, but with the exception of adding the ability to export to Excel from EBS, or having a template for a letter in which a few things will change from copy to copy, I don't see a huge advantage to using it.
Reports is such a powerful tool and creates so much flexibility in creating graphical documents. Things that are so easy to do in reports, from my experience, is extremely difficult to impossible in XML publisher. In publisher, you have to do a lot of logic yourself that reports would do for you just by saying Yes or No to a property.
When I first learned about XML publisher, I was really excited about learning to use it. But when I saw how difficult it is to do simple tasks, and how much you have to reinvent the wheel, I became really disappointed. There are lots of examples on the web about how to do this or how to do that with it, but honestly they seem to show you how to go to a lot of trouble to accomplish something that is easy in reports.
People seem to want to avoid bitmapped reports like the plague, but I think they are extremely underrated.
What do you guys think? Am I missing something? I would like to hear other opinions and perspectives.

Why are the songs in my iPhone playlists grayed out. I am unable to move and organize them. I just downloaded some audio books from Audible and I cannot moved them to a playlist on my iPhone either. What step am I missing?

Yes, you can't. The default order in the main window is based on date, ascending or descending when you are in the standard 'thumbnail view'. If you are in 'folder' view, with your folders shown in the left panel, you are shown the pictures in alphabetical order of the file names.

I have so many pictures. I wanted to put all the pictures for each album next to each other so I can find them easily.
It's not difficult to create albums and 'drag' pictures in it. When an album is selected, you can move your pictures around in any order in the main window panel.
Albums are one way of grouping and ordering pictures. You should try to use keywords to organize and retrieve your pictures.
