Why are PDF attachments are showing up on the body of emails, instead of as actual attachments?

PDF attachments are showing up in the body of my emails rather than as attachments. I need to be able to open them in other programs, eg notability, mad can't do that if they're not real attachments. On my other devices they're showing up at regular attachments.

When a PDF that has only one page is attached to an email the Mail app will display the conte tents of the PDF in the body of the email. But the PDF is still an attachment. Tap on the PDF to open in iBooks or forward it to your computer to open it there. Again, the one page PDF will display the contents of the single page but the PDF is still an attachment and can be used like any other attachment.
When a PDF that has more than one page is attached to an email the Mail app only displays the icon for an attachment.

  • Help-Attachments showing up in the body of my email

    I would like to know how to keep my attachments from showing up in the body of the emails I send and receive. We often send a catalog as an attachment. When a customer opens the email, and when we open the emails sent, the attachment is always open and included in the body of the email. How can stop this from happening? It is a nuisance in many cases.
    Thanks, Cindy

    David,
    Look closer -- I am Ernie, and it was I, and not Cindy who posted.
    What I am saying is that what you see in the Compose window is only Mail performing what is called View in Place. It is unrelated the file or image being an attachment, and it does not embed it. Just because you saw the image View in Place, does not determine whether the recipient will see it that way -- that is solely determined by the functioning of their email client.
    There is a reason to see the JPEG display, and that is for verification that it is the one you intended. If you don't want to see it after it first appears, Control-click on it, and choose View as Icon. However, that will have no impact on what is sent, or how the recipient receives it.
    AOL is different, in that if it is showing the image in the message, it is embedding it, and not attaching it. This often causes the recipient various problems, including sometimes inhibiting the saving the file on the recipient computer HD.
    Even with AOL and attaching, if received by Mail or by Thunderbird, for example (settings may apply) the JPEG you attached will Inline View.

  • 'There are no events to show' error on the iOS BT ...

    Hi all,
    Some of you may have seen this error message 'there are no events to show' when using the BT Sport app via an Apple device. If you have, please follow the advice below to fix it.
    1)      Go into your device’s settings;
    2)      Change the clock time to 24 hours, and the time on your device time zone to “automatic”;
    3)      Log out of the app and log back in (note, you do not need to uninstall/re-install the app);
    4)      The app will then start to work, provided you have enough WIFI signal.
    If you do not have enough WI-FI signal, you can use 3G (which is subject to your network’s charges), but you need to remember to activate the streaming content by choosing “General enable mobile streaming” in the app, otherwise 3G won’t work.
    Thanks

    jelect,
    What kind of triggering did you want for the mic input on your PDA? did you want to start acquiring when someone starts speaking, or something along those lines? If that's the case, then what you could do is continually call the SI Read.vi and poll to see if the voltage changes by a certain amount. Then, when that happens, do any processing that you need to.

  • Why do Java web applets show up in the Dock sometimes?

    I use web-based gradebook (Infinite Campus). At times since upgrading to Lion, when I load this Java applet through Safari and begin to interact with it, it pops up as a Dock icon. This never used to happen under Snow Leopard. I can't tell if it's something different with the applet or with Lion/Safari 5.1, but I'm assuming the latter. Can anyone shed any light on this? Why would a Java applet show up in the Dock as its own icon while runnign within Safari rather than just running "faceless" within the Safari window? Is there any way to change this behavior on my end? I've poked around in the /Applications/Utilities/Java Preferences app, but I haven't found anything relevant. I've tried re-installing the Lion Java runtime, 10.7.2 Combo Updater, and Safari 5.11, to no effect.

  • Attachments that don't show up in the body of the message

    Whenever I want to send email with an attachment, the attachment shows up in the body of the message. I don't want this. I just need it to attach itself and let the recipient open it.  How do I accomplish this?  Thanks!

    Your music will ONLY be where you put it.
    It will not magically appear anywhere.
    You buy one and only one download.  it is your responsibility to move/copy/backup your music.
    You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.
    Leaving your e-mail address on a  public forum may not be wise.

  • When I want to attach a file to an e-mail I'm sending from my iCloud account it makes the file show up in the body of the e-mail instead of attaching it as a separate file the receiver can open.  How can I change this?

    It should be an attachment.  Your Mac just displays a preview of certain attachments (such as .pdfs) in the body of the message.  A PC, for example, will see it as an attached file rather than a preview.
    You can save the attachment on your Mac by Control-clicking on it and selecting Save Attachment.

  • On occasion when I receive a new e mail, old e mails (from 2+ years ago) show up in the body of the email

    On very few occasions, when I receive a new e mail, old e mails (from 2+ years ago) show up in the body of the new email (subject line and sender are current, info in body is old deleted e mail)

    I would try the Rebuild command. Your mail database may have been messed up.

  • On a IPad is there a restriction to the number of emails it access? Say there's 100 messages in my inbox but when I look at my inbox on my Ipad it will only show 50 of the most recent emails. Is there a way to see all 100?

    Say there's 300 messages in my inbox but when I look at my inbox on my Ipad it will only show 200 of the most recent emails. Is there a way to see all 300?

    Not sure whether you are saying that you have more than 200 emails in your Inbox, or that 200 are in the Inbox and the others are in other folders. If the first then (I don't have more than 200 emails in my Inbox) but if you do and want to load more then do you not get a Load More Messages option if you scroll down to the bottom of your Inbox ?
    If you want to be able to search multiple email folders then I don't think that you can do it within the Mail app itself, but the spotlight search screen (swipe your first homescreen to the right) can - you can control what is searched by spotlight via Settings > General > Spotlight Search

    Edit > Attachments > Insert Attachments at End of Message. If a new message is the active window, the option applies only to that message. If you don't have a new message open, then the option becomes Always Insert Attachments at End of Message.

    How do I add an attachment to an email and not have it show up in the body of the email?

    You can right click or command-click on the image in the email and select "view as icon".
    You can change the default behavior of Mail.app so that it always shows the attachment as the icon:
    open a Terminal window (Applications > Utilities > Terminal)
    at the prompt, type in this (it must be exact, or copy and paste it in if you have trouble typing things precisely):
    defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool yes
    Then hit return.
    To revert to the previous default (where the attachment is visible in-line), you just enter the same command with "no" instead of "yes" at the end.
    In either case, however, how the viewer of the email sees the attachment (either as an icon or in-line) depends on how their email client is set up, not on how you send it.

  • SMS's that i send show up to recievers with my email instead of my name

    HI
    SMS's that i send show up to recievers with my email instead of my name
    can ANYONE help please!!

    The Caller ID setting determines how your message will be received by others.  If you select your number there, your message will be identified by your number to the recipient, and if they have your name and number in their contacts it will display your name.  The Receive At setting only shows the ways others can address messages to you, such as by your phone number or email address.  (Your number shown in Receive At can't be selected because you can't be changed or removed.)
