Why are some inbox messages not appearing in Mail on multiple macs and other devices?

My partner and I have an iMac at home and one at work. We also have two iPhones and two iPads. We only have a couple email accounts each and two for work set up on all six Mail applications. For some reason inbox messages are not appearing consistantly on all six devices. For example, I can have a new message from my Mom, see it at home and on my iPhone, but not on the iMac at work.
Also, some messages I'd like deleted off my work iMac since they're personal, but I'd like them kept on my home iMac and iPhone. Is this possible? Is it possible to delete a message on one and have it deleted on all others?

What type of email accounts are they? IMAP or POP.
IMAP leaves messages on the server so you can get them from everywhere.
With POP, messages are downloaded to your client and then removed from the server, depending on your settings.
The iDevice setup for POP doesn't remove them from the server.
I think Mail's default setup for POP is to remove immediately.
If they are POP accounts, you can set Mail's preferences to leave messages on the server for a period of time so that you can retrieve them on multiple clients.

I cannot find the unread message despite having opened all my inbox messages and wonder why the new messages are no longer in bold text.

Right click the folder, select properties and then the repair button. A new index might clear it.
If not try
View menu > folders > unread see if Thunderbird can find it since it says it is there after an index rebuild.

Why are MobileMe Sent messages not showing in Mail?

On one Intel iMac, messages sent do not show up on the other Intel iMac, both running Snow Leopard 10.6.7. This just started happening recently. Also, although there are a few thousand messages in the Sent Mailbox in MobileMe,, only 300+ appear in the Sent Mailbox on that first iMac. Rebuilding the mailbox has no effect. Any ideas?

Chart Expert - Why are some formula fields not available?

I have a report where I had to do Running Totals with formulas. Following what I learned long ago from the documentation, I laid in my formulas, and then setup some "Display" formulas to print out the results at the end of my report.
Now I am adding a chart to show a sort of 'summarized' version of the report - its a simple Pie chart...
But when I go into the Chart Expert and want to select those Display formula fields (there are 4 of them) - they do not appear in the list?
FYI - These four Display formulas are in the Report Footer of the report, and my chart is in the Report Header.
Why do some of my formula fields appear in the Chart Expert "select field" list - while others do not?
I checked the documentation on this, but it is very "lite" and does not indicate why this might be...
Any help is most appreciated!

Read again - "Problem has been circumvented" NOT "worked around". In other words, when you pay a fortune for a poorly documented piece of software and you are dependent on answers from a Forum, where at times no one answers your question(s) and your boss is shouting at you as to how you selected such a lousy piece of software with such "lite" documentation and is hardly going to pay any more money for a support call to answer a simple question that should have been covered (and then some) in the documentation, (let alone support of the problem) - you CIRCUMVENT, i.e. give up and find some other way to do what you were trying to do.
Hence, problem circumvented, NOT worked around.

Why are some iCloud services not syncing with my Mac?

iCloud seems to be syncing just fine between my iPhone 4S (AT&T 4G) (iOS 5.1.1) and my iPad 2 (Wi-Fi + 3G) (iOS 5.1.1), but not with my MacBook Air (Late 2010) (Mountian Lion 10.8.1). Here's a list of iCould services that I've noticed are and are not working:
iCloud mail (@me.com) and Gmail syncs and updates on my computer sometimes. (I get that these might be seperate issues. I think I need to change the "port" on one or both – suggestions?).
Exchange email syncs and updates on my computer most of the time.
Notes syncs and updates on my computer never.
Photo Stream has stopped updating and syncing on my computer altogether (worked for the first few weeks and not for the past few weeks).
iMessage synced with my computer and phone before Mountian Lion released (that is, all incomming iMessages sent to my Apple ID would be recieved at my phone and computer), but I don't think it's worked since.
iCal, Contacts, and Reminders seem to update and sync on my computer all of the time.
Because they're all iCloud services I want to think there is a one common problem – which is why I've created only one thread. But because they are not common to all services, I'm guessing it might be a case by case basis.
Of course I should state all iCloud services are turned on for all devices and computer, and I am using the same Apple ID for them all. Also, all devices/computer are connected to internet via Wi-Fi/4G pretty much all the time. Finally, it's possible there are other issues I've missed—although it seems unlikely since I use them all, all the time)—I think this is a pretty good representation of my problems.

For photo stream, if the source of the photos is an iOS device, be sure the photo app used to take the picture has been turned off, not just sleeping.
Have you rebooted the computer? The router?

Sent Messages not appearing in Mail

For the past several days many of my older Sent messages from my Gmail account have not been appearing in the Sent folder in Mail. The most recent messages from sent from Mail appear, but messages sent from other devices that used to appear in the Sent folder within Mail are not showing up. I can view my Sent messges within the Gmail IMAP folders and in my Sent folders in my iPad and iPhone Mail apps. What can I do?

Select the mailbox in the mailbox list, then select
Mailbox ▹ Rebuild
from the menu bar.

I am using Mountain Lion on my MacBook. I have successfully used Time Machine in the past, but I have incurred the following problem that I am requesting help on.
I am attempting to recover Sent and Inbox Mac Mail sent. I go through all the steps properly and locating what I want to recover, and after hitting Restore everything seems to be working and I get a message "Restoring 207 files". The guides say that then I am supposed to find the files in Mac Mail sidebar under ON MY MAC. But they are not there nor anywhere else I have looked. In other words, everything appears to be working fine except I cannot find the restored files.

Although you can restore messages from a Time Machine snapshot within the Mail application, it generally won't work with messages that were saved by an older version of Mail. In that case, you have to use an alternative method.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
~/Library/Mail/V2
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window should open with a folder selected. Inside that folder are subfolders representing your Mail accounts. The names refer to the email addresses you use. Decide which ones you want to restore messages from.
Enter Time Machine and scroll back to the snapshot you want. Select the account folders you want and then selectRestore ... to... from the action menu (gear icon) in the toolbar of the snapshot window. Restore the folders to the Desktop, not to their original location.
From the Mail menu bar, select
File ▹ Import Mailboxes...
Import from the mailboxes in the folders you restored to the Desktop. The imported messages will appear in a new mailbox. Move the ones you want to keep wherever you like and delete the rest. Then delete the folders on the Desktop.

Anyway the issue is I have iTunes and just updated it to the latest. I also have various Apple devices however my iPhone won't sync with iTunes. When I connect it using the USB cable it does not appear in the top right corner as does other devices. The cable is fine as it charges and also my PC sees the device. However it does not appear in iTunes so I can't sync music to it.
I've searched the web but all asume iTunes can see the device.

Why are my rollover images not appearing correctly in my browser?

I have created rollover images for some of my site navigation, and when I view it in my browser, they are not in the correct place on the page. When I click on each rollover, it eventually goes to the right place when I return to that page, but I must do this to all rollover navigation buttons in order for them to show up in the correct place. The links work fine. I am relatively new to this, so not sure if I am providing all the correct info here. My site is www.pfeiferdesign.com. I am using DW CS4. Would appreciate any suggestions!! Why do some .mp3 files not appear in iTunes yet play in other players?

I am running iTunes 6.0.4.2 and use it as my default player in Windows. I have noticed that sometimes I cannot add some .mp3s to my library (they don't appear at all), yet I can play them without problem in Windows Media Player. This is true of both the "Add File" & "Add Folder" options. Can anyone suggest why this is so? Thanks.

I have the same problem here in Belgium/Europe after upgrading to iTunes 10.
About 10gb of 310Gb in total is not readable anymore. I use only mp3 320kbps.
You can still find them back in iTunes, but no playback anymore.
I have deleted them from the list and do a "add to library". Impossible to import this data anymore.
What is strange is that this mp3 data can be used in QuickTime Player.
And..the same data is not readable on a another (Windows 7) pc with iTunes 10, neither on a pc with Vista and iTunes 9.2.
Who can help ??

Why are my text messages not delivered from Verizon Customers to my new provider?

I ported two numbers away from Verizon and now Verizon is apparently blocking text messages from Verizon customers to my new provider.
I can get texts from AT&T, Sprint, TMobile, and anyone else. Unfortunately, I cannot get texts from Verizon customers.
I have been right next to a friend with a Verizon android who texted to my non-Verizon android, and it never got through. My new provider says that this is not uncommon.
I have been on with Verizon tech support, and while they are nice enough, they have not been able to fix anything.
Verizon, please take responsibility to fix this!

rowdyonez, thanks for helping us support Frustrated_Former_Verizon_Cust with information regarding how to resolve their text messaging issue. Let's make sure that this isn't a memory capacity issue. The first thing that we recommend is to delete all unwanted text messages and power the devices off/on to soft reset. Keep us posted. We can assist right here in this forum, too.
