Why are Unicode Characters not displaying properly anymore ?
Hi,
I've just update my firefox Mac version 19.0 to 20.0. The big problem is I cannot see our Burmese Unicode character anymore.
I can see burmese character at ( www.facebook.com/futurewayeducation ) with 19.0 without doing any setting but with 20.0, I am hopeless now. The page is writing with a font call Zawgyi-One. The font location is ( http://code.google.com/p/zawgyi/wiki/MyanmarFontDownload ). Now I have just one solution left which is removing this 20.0 version and use 19.0 or Switch Browser.
Thanks.
Zay Yar
Screenshots are attache for reference.
Thanks.

Unicode Characters not displaying properly after updating to 13.0.1+
Previously, I had installed the Symbola font because certain symbols were not displaying properly in Firefox (notably on Twitter). Installing the font solved the problem for the most part (the four bit hex characters still didn't show up, but the six bit ones did).
After updating to 13.0.1 the other day, the six bit hex codes do not show the correct symbol anymore with Symbola still installed. I even deleted Symbola from my fonts, redownloaded it (a newer version, no less), installed it, and opened Firefox, and it did not solve the issue. Like the 50 million other things that Firefox broke with the update to 13. -_-
EDIT: This issue has since persisted with 14.0.1.Try to install the DejaVu font.

Why are animated gifs not displaying animations in the preview?
Why are animated gifs not displaying animations in the preview?
My coworkers and I are not seeing a animation in the preview pane in Adobe Bridge CS6 even when clicking the play button in the preview window. However, we do see a graphic of the first frame and one person sees 1 frame when clicking play and one other frame and then the animation stops, however, that is not the complete animation.
I'm using Windows 7 32 bit
My coworkers are using a mac.
One coworker has apple OS Mountain Lion with a Intel Quad-Core Xeon – 64 bit system.
Is this fixable or in the works as a patch? Otherwise we have to open these docs in a browser in order to view them properly.I've just come to the realization that some animated gifs do play fine and others do not. A coworker of mine suggests that if it's an animation made via Adobe Photoshop, it'll work in bridge but will not if it's made using something else.

French special characters not displayed properly in discoverer 11g
Gurus
We are upgrading to discoverer 11.1.1.3
I have found that French special characters (letters with accents) are not displayed properly in the discoverer tool menu.
Example
Sélectionner is displayed as S?lectionner.
This doesn't seem to be a server issue as one of the tester (in U.S) is able to see the french characters displayed and ironically it is not the case in France itself where this is required.
Please help
Regards
ArivPl post details of the two clients being used in this scenario - the exact OS version, browser version, browser language settings, Java version etc
Since the accented character shows on one client , the issue is with the client or the settings on the client where the accented character is not showing correctly.

Characters not displaying properly
I can't find how to properly enter and display certain chars from my db to my jsp page.
For instace, the word "Li'l" is displaying as "Li?????l".
things like TM,R arent working either.
the "'"(apostrophe) is entering into the DB without a problem- but it wont display. The (TM) is not storing or display properly.
Is there anyway to copy text directly from wordpad into a textbox and have it store in mysql and display in jsp correctly?
Also, this might be a question for the mysql section:
If i'm doing a query like thisSELECT ID, brandName, productInformation, productName, productImage FROM blahblah.uk WHERE brandName = '" + brand + "'"; and " brand + has an apostrophe- the query screws up. Is there a way around it at all?
here is my entire DB connection code.
<%
Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver");
conn = "jdbc:mysql://" + host + "/" + db + "?user=" + user + "&password=" + pass;
Connection Conn = DriverManager.getConnection(conn);
Statement SQLStatement = Conn.createStatement();
String Query = "SELECT ID, brandName, productInformation, productName, productImage FROM blahblah.uk WHERE brandName = '" + brand + "'";
ResultSet SQLResult = SQLStatement.executeQuery(Query);
%>
<%
while(SQLResult.next())
x_ID = SQLResult.getString("ID");
x_brandName = SQLResult.getString("brandName");
x_productName = SQLResult.getString("productName");
x_productInformation = SQLResult.getString("productInformation");
x_productImage = SQLResult.getString("productImage");
thanksMay I assume since you're using ASP that you're on Windows? The only way I'm aware to be able to display Arabic characters on Windows would be to set your Windows language to Arabic. This will be somewhere in the Control Panel, but without knowing what version of Windows you're on, it's hard to be more specific.
In general, SQL*Plus is not a wonderful tool for viewing non-English data.

Since updating to Firefox 4, why is my website not displaying properly?
Sine updating to Firefox 4, one of my websites - www.fonografiacollective.com - is not displaying the home page properly. For some reason, it is showing our logo twice. This site has a WordPress CMS, and I am not technically savvy enough to know what is not compatible with the new version of Firefox. Please help as soon as possible.
Thanks so much-
Bear GuerraI think that is is caused because you place a block element (DIV) in an inline element (A)<br />
You can't do that.<br />
It works if I disable the HTML5 parser, but with HTML5 enabled I see an extra A tag and all A tags are closed and reopened.
<pre><nowiki><a title="Fonografia Collective" href="http://fonografiacollective.com"> /* inline */
<div class="logo"> /* block */
<h1 class="hometitle">
<a href="http://fonografiacollective.com/" title="fonografia collective">fonografia collective</a> /* block */
</h1>
</div></nowiki></pre>
Generated source from the DOM with HTML5 enabled:
<pre><nowiki><a title="Fonografia Collective" href="http://fonografiacollective.com"></a>
<div class="logo">
<a title="Fonografia Collective" href="http://fonografiacollective.com"></a>
<h1 class="hometitle"><a title="Fonografia Collective" href="http://fonografiacollective.com"></a>

Unicode characters not displayed in text property
I am developing a web application with Flex Builder. I write
the text for each label using a font called Dhivehi which is
written from left to right, and then copy the text and paste it in
the label property called text.
However in the source code view the text property of the
label shows
text=""
The issue is that when rendered the text is rversed. So I
want to run a function once the application is loaded, to reverse
the text in the label, so that the text will appear in it's
original way.
any help will be very much appreciatedHi,
I have a strange problem here with Windows.Forms.RichTextBox, when I assign a .ToString() value of sting builder to a rich text box’s .Rtf Property the Unicode characters containing in string builder gets converted to ???? symbols in .Rtf property of rich
text box.
Could you please let me know if Rich text box’s .Rtf property can hold Unicode characters? or is there any other way to store the Unicode characters in rich text box?
Thanks & Regards,
Tabarak
Hello,
To clarify and help you get proper solution, I would recommend you share a rtf string or even a simple sample which could reproduce that issue with us.
We will based on that sample to help you.

Carl

Why are YouTube videos not loading properly on Safari?
YouTube videos on Safari are not loading properly. It is as if the YouTube viewing window loads right-justified on the screen. Which ends up being like almost a perfect square on the screen, with the unfortunate result that part of the video is truncated at the right. The same exact video on Chrome loads just fine.
I've just updated Flash and the problem persists.
Here's a screenshot.
The right part of the image shows a "Google 414 That's an Error" along with the description "The requested URL/adi/N8380.280090.ACCORDANTMEDIA/B7762596.101545485... is too large to process. That’s all we know."
Is anyone else having the same issue?Hi Carlos ...
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Back to Safari. Press Command + Option + E to empty the Safari cache.
Quit and relaunch Safari, try a video.
And make Allow all other plug-ins is selected in Safari > Preferences > Security
Command , (comma) will open the Safari preferences pane for you, or from your Safari menu click Safari > Preferences
If nothing above helped, try troubleshooting Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall. -
Why are my photos not displaying and exporting properly?
I bought LR5 and have been using it for a few months with no problem. Out of nowhere, my photos don't export properly and my photos look worse in the "Library" module than the "Develop" module. The photos are not sharp, noisy and the color and contrast are wrong. If I zoom to 1:1 in Library the problem fixes itself but the photos still will not export with all the edits I've made. It's NOT my computer screen so please do not suggest I re calibrate it. I am running on a MacBook Pro with Yosemite! Thank you in advance for your help!
Get SmugMug photo sharing. For a few dollars a year your photos will look fantastic. It is much better value and has unlimited storage unlike Photoshop.com and the full screen slideshow with captions look even more impressive on widescreen monitors.
What's more, you can upload photos to your SmugMug albums directly from the PSE Organizer.

Also, when I trying inputting text into xterm using ibus's anthy, nothing gets entered, and I'm assuming that is related to the problem of not being able to view the Japanese characters properly
I'm really not sure where I'm going wrong, but it's driving me nuts and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Last edited by Bipolarbearz (2014-12-24 03:24:40)Your default xterm font is DejaVu Sans Mono. I don't know how scim and anthy may complicate setting up a locale but you do appear to have something oddly configured.
Your output from the bare locale command shows backslashed double quotes. My output shows no backslashes:
$ locale
LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE=C
LC_MONETARY="en_US.UTF-8"
-- snip --
LC_ALL=
The only line I have uncommented in /etc/locale.gen is:
en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8
The only possibly significant difference between your xterm settings and mine is the way we set xterm to use UTF-8. I have:
XTerm*locale: true
You have:
xterm*utf8: 2
I think they may just be different methods that reach the same end when you only have UTF-8 locales installed. I can get the Droid glyphs to display using either resource setting.
If I were in your shoes, I would work through the Archwiki's Locale page, step by step, to see if I could silence the warnings.
If the warnings still appeared, I would step back, and do things one step at a time. If you uninstall anthy, or scim-anthy, and regenerate your locales, do the warnings disappear? Does xterm display the CJK glyphs? If not, does regenerating the locales using only en_CA.UTF-8 work?
I wish I could offer more help but I don't have the knowledge to offer more.
If you want to see which installed fonts say they have Japanese language support, use this command:
fc-list ':lang=ja'
Do note that what a font advertises and what you and I would call language support may be different. -

Chinese Characters not displaying properly
I pasted Chinese text into a Rolling title but not all of the characters display. Some (not many) of them display as an x inside of a square. All I can think is that some of the characters are not being recognized. If it matters, the text is simplified Chinese copied from a website, pasted into Notepad, then copied again and pasted into the title.
Help is greatly appreciated.John,
I see that now, but the font I selected (simsun) seems to have resolved my issue. I believe it is a bug if I can display the characters correctly on other app, especially Microsoft. On Microsoft apps, I can select many standard fonts and the Chinese Characters display correctly.
Thank you for the link to submit a bug report. When I get time I will submit it, and hopefully they will correct the issue.
God Bless,
Mark
