Why can't I connect to my airport extreme(4th gen.) after reseting the password

i was changing the password on my airport extreme(4th gen.) and it said that i changed it succesfully but it had a error when it was restarting and i can't connect back to the internet what should it do

Please perform a Factory Default Reset to clear the old, and possibly corrupted settings on the AirPort Extreme to get it back to original settings. Then, reconfigure the device again using the passwords of your choice.

  • Best setup for new airport with wired connection to old airport extreme (4th gen)

I have an AirPort Extreme (4th gen) in my basement (of a three story house) connected directly to the Fios box (I am not using the Verizon g router).  The new AirPort (ac) is connected to the old one by in-wall Cat 6e to an upstairs bedroom.  Can/should I turn off wifi on the n router for best wireless performance?  What would the optimal setup be?
On the airport utility I selected "replace existing Airport" and the new ac router is up and running and working fine.  I wonder whether the fact that wifi on the old Airport is still on may be good for coverage around the house, but compromising the wireless bandwidth/speed?  I haven't noticed any speed issues yet, but I do a lot of video streaming so I want to ensure I have the best setup.  Range doesn't seem to be a major issue in my house.  It is more important to me to have strong wifi signal upstairs.
    Thanks in advance for advice.

If the AirPorts are connected using Ethernet, then no bandwidth is being lost on the network. Keep the wireless functions "on" at both AirPorts for additional wireless coverage and speed.

  • Why can't I set up my AirPort Extreme as a wireless jumper from my Cable internet router ?

Why can't I set up my AirPort Extreme as a wireless jumper from my Cable internet router ?

If it "joined" my network is it extending the coverage of my wifi network ?
Please review my previous answer in the post above......
But, the Express does not  "extend" or "repeat" the wireless signal when it joins a network.  In other words, wireless devices cannot connect to the AirPort Express the way that you have it set up.
If so can my Airport Extreme be set up to "join" my network and also extend the coverage of my network ?
Again, please review my previous answer in the first reply above......
The AirPort Extreme does not have this type of capability.
If you have both an AirPort Extreme and an AirPort Express.....my suggestion....again, found above in a previous post.....
It takes a minimum of two Apple routers to extend a signal using wireless.
You could do this by connecting the AirPort Extreme to your cable router using a permanently installed Ethernet cable and then configuring the AirPort Extreme to "create a wireless network".
Then add an AirPort Express in a location where it can pick up a strong wireless signal from the AirPort Extreme and configure the Express to "extend a wireless network".
You would not use the wireless on your cable router at all, unless you wanted to reserve that network for guests or something similar.

  • Why can't I connect to my brother MFC-J4510DW printer wirelessly? The printer is connected to the router and I can surf the web. I wonder if some security setting may be keeping it from connecting to my MacBook Pro.

Why can't I connect to my brother MFC-J4510DW printer wirelessly? The printer is connected to the router.
I can surf the web. My wife can print from her PC wirelessly on it.
I wonder if some security setting may be keeping it from connecting to my MacBook Pro. I've installed the software, firmware and driver updates but
    it still shows "off line"
with the printer power on. Any suggestions?

All I can suggest right now is back up first the try to reset the printing system, (all printers in the list will be removed).
Then connect directly to the printer via ethernet or to the Mac using USB and restart the efforts you have made up until now.
As for router settings, it's possible but not likely that your router only allows a small number of clients. It's also posible that you have MAC address filtering on, lastly are you using the correct wireless protocol, (802.11a/b/g WEP or WPA etc)?

I have just bought a Humax 7500T PVR and a Humax W-Lan dongle to connect to my Airport Extreme.
I have put the mac address into the AE. The installation screen on my TV is picking up the network name but once appied it won't connect to the internet.
I've a few other things connected to the AE such as computers, ipad, itouch, etc, and have never had a problem connecting these once I've entered the mac address into the AE. Can anyone help me with this please?

have you made sure that the network setting in the system preferences is set up to use dhcp? if not i would try changing it so that it shows that it is getting its address by dhcp

  • Why can't I install software for AirPort Extreme 802.11n while running Mountain Lion OSX?

Why can't I install software for AirPort Extreme 802.11n while running Mountain Lion OSX?  The installation CD simply says that the software can't be installed while running this OSX.

Mountain Lion already has the most recent, updated version of AirPort Utility installed on your Mac. The version on your CD is out of date, so you can trash the CD.
Look in Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility.

  • Why can't I get TC or Airport Extreme to work in my house?

I   am very mad at myself for buying a TC in April and now the new one is out!!  I had issues with connectivity with my Airport Extreme and purchased a TC in April thinking that the APE was on the way out and now the TC is doing the same thing....help!!
I live in an old house with lathe and plaster walls.  The TC is in a closet on the stairwell that is central to the main floor.  We have about 75Mbps download from Comcast but the wireless was getting flaky.  Our iPads, and phones would just loose connectivity and a speedtest.com test would show maybe 6Mbps when we had the APE so we figured the answer was a new router.  After we started seeing some of the same issues with the new TC, I have changed our set up to using the TC as the base station and have the APE (old one) set up in the livingroom as an extention.
I am still not sure this is the best way to run this and am really mad that Apple upgraded just after I purchased the TC. Should I just sell the TC and get the new version with hopes that the new antena will help my problem??
BTW, I work for IBM from home so I really need the internet to work to the max in order to get my job done.

I work for IBM from home
    Kind of ironic.
I   am very mad at myself for buying a TC in April and now the new one is out!!
It is the nature of technology.. whenever you buy you are going to be caught by the next wave of products.. let yourself off.. Apple are the most secretive company in the world. Although I was telling people to wait for a fair while before the announcement.
I live in an old house with lathe and plaster walls.
The heavier the materials and the higher the moisture content the worse wireless. Older houses often have water problems..
There is no certainty the new AC model will fix your problems.. and certainly not without AC clients.
If you have a 75Mbps connection my first test would be ethernet to the TC and test if you can get that.. wireless turned off on the computer and no other clients turned on. Make sure the TC is actually routing at full speed.. people have found the TC can be slow.
If the ethernet test fails, replace the TC with another brand router.. eg Asus or Netgear.. ones that take 3rd party firmware are my favourites..
Relegate the TC to backup duties in the local lan by bridging it to the router.
If ethernet is fine and wireless fails to connect fast enough.. do a proper wireless survey in your home.. use a wireless analysis software.. I don't know the paid one for Mac but istumber is ok.. inssider on pc is really good.
A full spectrum analysis would be even better but that requires more specialised stuff. But turn off everything you own that is wireless.. cordless phones, av senders, door bells, baby monitors, and the zillion other things that use unlicensed bands.
Do a full reset of the TC and set names, short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric for both 2.4 and 5ghz bands.. different names.. and set fixed channels and test each in turn.. non-overlapping at 2.4ghz, 1, 6, 11
For 5ghz down low, 36-40 and one of the high channels is enough.. 150 or greater.
If you own the house and you do work from home.. run ethernet.. and claim it on tax as business expense..
Anybody running business should run ethernet.
Wireless is for toys and hobbies .. the reliability of wireless is really not up to business standards. At least IMHO.. !!
If the business run wireless.. it comes with products that have the big C on them and cost thousands of dollars. Ask at your local Apple store what brand wireless equipment they run.. it aint apple.

  • Can I connect my new AirPort Extreme to a PC as the hub instead of a MAC?

    Hi,
I bought a new 27" iMac today and an AirPort Extreme.  However, my husband and I want to connect the AirPort Extreme to our cable modem and our PC laptop as the "hub," and then wirelessly link my iMac, my iPhone, my iPad, and our Apple TV to it.  This is because of where our cable jack is located.
Is this possible?  It seems not to be working when hooked to the PC??
    Cab nan anyone help me?

Basically it is going to not be possible..
If you want to run the Airport Extreme a long distance from the cable modem.. then either buy an express and plug that in to the cable modem and wireless extend that to the TC..
Or buy a set of EOP adapters and use that in place of ethernet.. which is the one and only "RIGHT" way to do it.

  • Can't login to iCloud email, even after resetting the password via iForget. No access in the iCloud website nor in Apple Mail...

    Hi all,
can't find the solution for this, have already resetted the password via iforget. iCloud site accepts my password but then gives me an error while trying to access my email. In Apple Mail, after updating the password, it still tells me that it is wrong.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

Even your problem aroused more than six months ago, let me mention that I am facing similar problem (created another thread where I asked about), I also called Applecare, and they told me I had to wait since aparently the issue was a "server side" issue. What concerns me is the case was "closed" & I am still facing the problem since this morning (case 331263318 )

  • Why can't I print remotely through Airport Extreme or Airport Express?

I am currently on a WEP-protected network and can no longer print remotely. (The Airport Express worked fine on my last network which wasn't WEP protected). I can't even get the Airport Utility to find either my Airport Extreme base station or my Airport Express. I cannot remove the WEP protection from the network. I have tried plugging the printer into the Airport base station directly and still no printing. Why does the problem seem to be connected to WEP protection and what can I do about it?

The WEP key has to entered onto the Airport Express through the Admin Utility. Find the key on your router, and then copy and paste the key into Express. If that doesn't work, try putting a $ in front of the WEP key on the Express.

  • HP OfficeJet L7780 802.11g - why can't it find my Apple Airport Extreme ?

I have purchased an HP officeJet L77380 All-In-One printer/fax etc. It is designated 802.11g. I have turned the Network/wireless radio "on". When I select Network/Wireless Setup Wizard I get a rotating cursor and the message "Searching for wireless router..." and it never finds anything. I have selected my Airport Extreme configuration Radio Mode: 802.11n (802.11b/g compatible)". It still doesn't work. HELP!! And a Happy New Year to this Discussion Forum.
I have downloaded and reinstalled the current driver.  It works fine when connected to the same Airport Extreme by an ethernet cable.  I have posted this to the HP talk and they told me to contact Apple Support! (this shows how unhelpful this enterprise can be!).  I have also spent an hour on the phone to HP support and it turned out that they put me thro' to their XP expert and there were not Mac technicians available.  Oh well - it is Saturday evening!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Just to be clear, are you saying that your L7780 is unable to discover your wireless network from the printer's Wireless Setup Wizard?
BTW -- I run an Airport Extreme 802.11n wireless-router at home and my HP wireless printers work fine.
I'd like to see the internal connectivity report from the printer.  Press the <setup> and <#> keys simultaneously.   Scan the report to a memory card, copy it to your PC and post image here.
The connectivity report will give me details on your wireless network and the networks in the area.
Also, what other wireless devices do you have connected to your network?

  • Can't log in (Mac OSx 10.6.6) even after changing the password 8 times!

Not happy.I can't believe how hard it is to get support from Spotify for a service I am paying them for! Having to trawl through chat rooms is not customer care! Basically, I can't log into Spotify even after changing my password. I am at work but the tech bods say it should work fine (always has done until now). I just need someone to let me into the service I am paying for!If anyone see's anyone from Spotify hiding anywhere, please let me know.

If I follow that link you just sent me and use my email address for the username (I don't have/ can't remember my username) and put my password in it doesn't work. If I use my email and password to log in (using the link sent to my email to reset my password) it logs in fine. It doesn't recognise password on the Spotify App

  • Why can I no longer see my Airport Extreme router in AirPort Utility after installing Yosemite?

After upgrading to Yosemite, I can no longer see my router in the Airport Utility application.  In Finder, my router shows up as an AirPort Time Capsule but when I try to select it, I get message saying it can't connect.  I can, however, connect to the internet through the router.

I reset my router and I can now see it.
