Hi joyceannlake1960,
In the iPad User Guide there are a few good pages that may help get you acquainted with deleting mail messages:

  • Why can't I delete my mails on iMac after converting to iCloud?

Wel I can delete them allright, but next time I look in the same folder, all the deletet mails are back :-(
I sync between iMac, iPhone and iPad. I can delete the mails directly in iCloud and on my iPhone but NOT on my iMac. Whats wrong?
    /Flemming

You said you have a workstation with 4 drives, not a notebook.
And you have not reformatted in years.
Just clone Mac OS X Lion (and Lion Recovery) to anotehr hard drive with Carbon Copy Cloner.
    Cloning as a Backup Strategy
Or backup and erase the DRIVE, like WDxxxxx and not your "Macintosh HD" volume and restore.
Reformatting is a good idea when moving to a new OS and lot of changes to partition structure go on each time, sometimes even mid-stream of a version.

  • Why can't I add videos to my iPod touch 4th gen?

I have updated my 4th gen iPod touch to the most recent iOS, 6.1.2. I want to put videos in it. I have already converted my videos to the appropriate format and put them in iTunes. But when I drag the icon of the video to the iPod touch icon, it won't work. On the other hand, when I do the same to the iPod classic, it works like a charm. How come I can't add videos to my 4th gen iPod touch? HELP!

I would try placing the movies in the iTunes movie library and then using the Create iPod and iPhone Version in the advanced tab of iTunes.  It is likely that the format is not compatible with the iPod.  There are many variations in the mp4 format and all are not compatible the iPod.

  • Why can't I get iOS7 on may iPod touch 4th gen

I am mad because 4th gen iPhone can get iOS 7 but 4th gen iPod cant

Because that iPod touch model has only 256MB RAM and iOS 7 requires at least 512MB.

  • Why can't I delete Mail from my iPhone? it just allows me to Archive, and where do the archives go?

Why can't I delete Mail from my iPhone? it just allows me to Archive, and where do the archives go?

You'll have to go to your Settings -> Mail, Contacts, etc -> Email Account -> Advanced -> Deleted Mailbox
Turn off Archive mode, Turn on Trash
You can also put the phone in airplane mode to delete them real quick, but that's only a temporary fix.

  • Why Can't I Delete Two (daily) History Folders?

As we all know, in Safari, clicking on History/Show History reveals a list of websites visited with the most recent web visits inside the Last Visited Today folder, beneath which is a historical list of daily folders delineated by day and date. It's generally very easy to manually delete an entire daily history folder, or, click on that history folder and selectively delete any history events inside it.
That said, I have a couple of older daily history folders, that I've been trying to delete and they're impossible to delete. Curiously, they're both from the Saturday occurring on the weekend of October 18th/19th of both 2013 and now 2014 as seen below. I was able to delete all the history events inside the folders, but I can't delete the folders themselves.
Why can't I delete these folders and more importantly, how do I delete them?
    I'm running Safari 6.1.6 on a MacBook Pro OS X 10.7.5
    Thanks for any help!

You saw my pre edited post I suppose?
But Yes, I agree about the bookmarks. You are right about this I'm sure. I didn't even think about bookmarks. You have to delete bookmarks in order to competely clear all of that out. I have tons of bookmarks in Safari and unless I delete the bookmarks, even if I clear the history, those websites will pop up in the window under the URL field because they are still in the bookmarks.
Deleting the history just deletes the chronological listing of the sites that you have visited over a period of time. Bookmarks are something totally different altogether.
But to me - the whole point of having bookmarks is so that you can easily navigate back to this sites.

  • Why can't I delete temporary internet files in Bootcamp/AppData folders

Why can't I delete temporary internet files in Bootcamp/AppData folders. Message occurs that file cannot be deleted.

Are you trying to delete files from your Time Machine backup?  Don't do that!! If you have files/photos you wish to delete then delete them from iPhoto or whatever photo application you are using. They will be removed from the backup by the TimeMachine backup system. Your backup is not a simple file it is a time/event dependent organizational picture of your system sort of like a multilayered transparent collage, but if you start pulling random pieces out it will collapse the file system. • Why can I not send e-mails from my e-mail account? I can receive e-mails. Not an iCloud account. It is a Bell Aliant account.

Why can I not send e-mails from my e-mail account? I can receive e-mails. It is not an iCloud account it is a Bell Aliant account. An account I pay for.
This is the second time in three months this has occurred. Bell Aliant suggested I contact Apple directly as the only option is to remove my e-mail account and reconfigure it. This will mean losing all my files. These files are very important as my account is a business account.
Bell Aliant thought perhaps it is an Apple problem and that Apple may better be able to remedy the situation without me losing my e-mail files.

    Sorry ?
An Internet email provider losses all your Mail and it's Apple's fault ??
Did they explain how the app managed to delete all of your mail and then not even let you have access ?
If that was the case the app should still be able to access the empty folders.
I know there is often blame and counter blame in these situations but there are limits.

  • Why can't I delete added mailboxes on my iPad mini since iOS 8 update? Every time I try to delete an old mailbox that I added it boots me right out of mIl completely. I want to clean up and get rid of old unused mailboxes?

why can't I delete added mailboxes on my iPad mini after the ios8 update?

The mail app is crashing on you for some reason. Close the mail app and reset your iPad.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that doesn't help, you can also try resetting all settings. You will not lose any data, but most of the device settings will have to be entered in the settings app again. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings.

  • When I open my files to download my pictures from my iphone 6 plus, there is a windows icon with a hard drive.  What is that? And why can't I delete it?

When I open my files to download my pictures from my iphone 6 plus, there is a windows icon with a hard drive.  What is that? And why can't I delete it?  I already reset my phone and a week later they came back.

    I download my pictures by:
!) Connecting my iphone to he computer.
    2) It will open a window or I will go to my computer and select iphone device.
    3) Open up Iphone folders and download.
When I do that, I see a windows icon, with what looks to be a hard drive.  And when I click on it, it leads me back to my desktop.  Right now, I only have one.  I know by tomorrow I will have more.  It just keeps spreading.

  • On an iMac why can't you delete an email without opening it?

Why can't I delete an email without opening it first? Is this not a security risk as I have always been advised that, if I don't know who the email is from, I should delete it so as to avoid opening any suspect attachments that open immediately.
This is my first Mac so could it be that I have not realised how to do this?
My wife can do this on her iPad.

    A couple of points:
    1. Your concern is not really an issue with macs. More of a PC thing. "Suspect attachments" are extremely, extremely rare for a mac. I mean, like one since 1984, when I bought my first mac. The reason is that Apple seems to be on top of things and keeps updating mac software to protect your mac from this sort of thing. Just keep up with the system updates and you won't have a problem. Microsoft, on the other hand, makes tons of security holes in their software because of their mindset, i.e., that the consumer is a moron and the enemy.
    2. In my mail.app, there are three columns in the message viewer, the first which lists the mailboxes, the second which lists the emails, and the third which is a preview window. I can select an email in the second column and delete it without opening it, so I don't see what the problem is that you're having.

  • Why can't I delete some of my emails

Why can't I delete some of my emails?

If it only happens with selected emails and not all of them, I don't think this is the problem, but you can check this to be sure.
Go to Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>Your email account>tap the blue arrow next to the email address under Account>Advanced>Deleted Mailbox>On my iPad>Trash. I have an IMAP account and it is set to On the Server>Trash.
