I have the exact same problem. I just updated to 4.3.3 and now my inline controls on my earphones don't work. The earphones work, but the controls don't. It doesn't even recognize that there is a mic attached. Even with the earphones in it still uses the built in mic. Why did my controls stop working?!

It's in the article. You must first sign-out your current account, then go to App store to purchase a Free App. It will ask you to either Sign in or create a new AppleID. That's when you start creating a new AppleaID and NONE will be available as a payment option.

I live in Japan but I would like to use my US credit card to make purchases in the US Store.
I had no problems with this previously, but I recently informed my US bank of my Japanese address and changed it (had to).
There is no way to input my Japanese address (so that it matches the bank information) in the fields for the US App Store (which has no foreign country fields, you are limited to having to fill in the US state field, flags me for phone number area code differences, etc.).
When I hit the change country button: A) It took me to the Japanese App Store; B) I could not use my US credit card there (despite my Japanese address).
Yes, I may want to make purchases in the Japanese App Store in the future (I am bilingual), but the selections are different depending on the country.
Now I can make purchases in neither country.
I want to make purchases in the US Store from Japan.
Help! I feel like I am getting punished for being global. (The world should be getting smaller, more interconnected, and more convenient with the Internet --- not the opposite!)

Well, I can certainly understand the licensing argument if I were using a Japanese credit card with a Japanse address and making a purchase with Japanese yen from the US Store from Japan.
When I am making a purchase with US card from the US store with US dollars, the argument becomes a bit suspect (I know it is Apple's, not your argument).
it is just kind of a paradoxical situation and I am hoping Apple will offer some sort of solution. We can always hoe, right?

I am a Canadian resident who would like to make a purchase in the US ITunes store. I don't know anyone in the US nor do I have a credit card with an American billing address. Is there any possible way for me to make a purchase in the American store, or am I pretty much screwed? I buy lots of music and all I want to do is give the US Store my money-why is this so hard? This wouldn't be an issue if the Canadian store just had what I am looking for (i.e. TV Shows!) -why does the selection vary from country to country anyway?

The record companies and other rights holder are different in every country, though, so they require separate negotiation by Apple for the rights in each country. And since the rights are held separately in different countries, they all restrict Apple (and every other legal download store) to selling only to users within that particular country.
So again, Apple can do nothing to change this unless and until the record companies arrive at a cross-border sales agreement, something I don't see happening anytime in the foreseeable future, even within the EU.

I downloaded a game onto my iPad and when I try to make a purchase it says that the transaction cannot be completed. I have checked my card several times to make sure it was entered correctly in my ITunes acct but it will still give me the error message. Can anyone help me with this?

I USE GIFT CARDS FOR PURCHASES(VISA, MC) NOW I CAN'T MAKE A PURCHASE. THEY SAY I HAVE TOO MANY CREDIT CARDS ON FILE

They say I have too many credit cards on file for my username- purchase cancelled. I use gift cards for gaming purchases (Visa,MC) so I have used a few, but its a gift card.

This is most likely a security precaution since they probably assume that someone using multiple credit cards over a short period of time may well have stolen them. Go here:

I purchased a book in ibook and downloaded it just fine. Couple months later Apple switched my old 4s for a new 4s because it was damaged. I re-installed ibook and synced and the book showed up in purchased items with an icloud sign but when I tried to download it it just said "downloading" but didn't do anything and went back to the icloud sign.

You should be able to. Make sure you are doing it as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519. If you are and it isn't working, download it to iTunes on your computer and sync it to your phone.

As RG says, if you're in the US, you haven't allowed for the sales taxes charged by your city and state. You'll need to buy something less expensive, add a credit card, or redeem an additional iTunes card.
