  • How can i recover my lost ipod touch 4th generation even if the battery is dead?

It has been almost a month now that ive lost my ipod touch 4th generation, ive looked everywhere and cant seem to find if, i dont have the serial number, and when i go into the locate my iphone on the apple store, it doesnt work because my batery is dead, and if noone ever finds it, he cant conect it to power suply and conect it to the internet...

Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod.  If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number).  If any passwords are associated with a bank or any other savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief.  All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself.  This requires action before the device is lost/stolen.  If the device has significant personal information, it should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

  • Why can't I restore my ipod touch version 2?  Error 1604?

How can I restore my Ipod Touch, version 2, ios 4.2.1?  I tried to do an original restore from ITunes.  It erased all of my files.  The Ipod now sits there with a screen suggesting to plug it into ITunes.  It is plugged in!  Itunes doesn't even recognize it as a "device".
I was able to repeat the process several times, by unplugging it, re-starting ITunes, and re-running the original restore.
I got the following message, "The Ipod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1604)."  I went to the "More Information" section, but none of the suggestions applied to me.
In this condition it is totally unusable!

    Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

  • Why Can't I put my Ipod Touch 2nd generation into recovery mode?

I have an ipod touch 2nd generation. I set a passcode on the ipod and then i forgot it. i tried everything and nothing worked and eventually it got locked fully and says "connect to itunes" on it. This is a problem because i no longer have the computer that i last synced to. i have a new laptop now and i threw away the old one.
I know how to fix it. I just have to put it into recovery mode and then restore it.
For some reason, i can't put it into recovery mode. I tried all different methods.
these are the ones i tried:
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212?viewlocale=en_US&cid=acs::itunes_help
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rm2D7-PCTaw
i tried a couple more but i lost the links of them.
when i try to do the part of recovery mode where you have to start up the ipod. it doesn't go into recovery mode. it just starts up and pops up on itunes saying i have to unlock the ipod in order for the device to connect to Itunes!
    Please help!

Nevermind! after countless tries, i was able to get it into recovery mode!

  • Why can't I update my iPod touch (4th gen) to 5.0.1?

So I have an iPod touch 4th gen previously jailbroken (if that matters) but now restored becouse i wanted to upgrade to iOS 5.0.1. But everytime i try i get "error -43". So I've been googling and stuff like that to find out what it is and what it means but I can't find any match on it. So i don't know if it's wrong with itunes or the iPod so I really don't know what to do.. Anyone who know how I could fix this? Please help.

Temporarily disable or turn off all security software, such as firewall, anti-virus, anti-spam etc.. And try the download again.

  • Can you hook up your iPod Touch 4th generation with an HDMI cable to your HDTV and play videos from your iPod to the TV?

I'm trying to find out if I can hook up my iPod touch 4th gen. iOS 5.0.1 to my HDTV with an HDMI cable and have it mirror what I do on the iPod Touch like mirroring videos for example. I need to find out and if so, how?

You can only output content to your TV if the App you are using supports the TV Out functionality. Mirroring is not supported on the iPod Touch.
If you still want to output content from your iPod to your TV, make sure you have the right cables as described here.

  • Why can't I restore my ipod touch?

My ipod is still on the screen that shows the ipod needs to connect toitunes when i connect it to restore it won't connect to itunes

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • How do you restore a ipod touch 4th generation that you do not have to lock code too?

    Hey guys,
I need some help.. my little brother got a ipod touch for christmas last year. He lost it sometime this year, and i found it the other day. When he lost it, it had a lock code on it, and now he can't remember the lock code. Itunes wont let me restore it without the lock code. This is a troublem because we can't do anything with the ipod. If someone knows how to unlock the ipod without the lock code or the serial number being needed that would help a lot. He also doesn't have the serial number because when he got the box he threw it away, and there are too many scratches on the back of the ipod to recover the serial number. Pleasae help.

  • How can I fix a frozen iPod touch 4th generation?

I tried to put my pass code in and it frozen and wouldn't unlock.  The screen then went to the apple logo screen for five minutes.  From the apple logo screen then went to a white screen with colorful vertical lines on the screen.  It's now been on this last screen for thirty minutes.  I don't really want to replace it or bring it to an apple store because the nearest store is over two hours away.  I've tried to press the power and home button and I've held the power button down for five minutes with no results.

  • Why can't I restore my Ipod touch 4G?

I've never had this problem for over a year. Now, it becomes worst, can't sync, put music, movie, picture anymore. So I tried to restore it and update it, but it wont let me.
    Please help

Dear Philly_Phan.....maybe he's had the same problem as me....three months of a 4g i-Touch 64gb, everything nice, along comes iOS5, Apple tells us to update...then managing to download from an external source by holding down the shift key (nice folks on theese Apple Communities really trying to help) from there to Error 13019, and doing something in the "hosts" of my computer, then coming up with Error 3194, solved by going to jeiboy.com (more help from nice Coomunity Member) then going to firmwareumbrella.com (downloading tiny umbrella) then coming up with Error 1604, then being advised by another nice person in this Apple Community to go to hotfile.com and put my device into DFU mode.....at which point I realised this product is inherently faulty and gave up......surely when you buy an iPod Apple cannot assume that it is your idea of fun to spend hours and hours in front of a comuter screen looking for solutions to the problems their shoddy workmanship/software has created? I'm giving up on these useless things.........and I am sure it is not just because I am impatient, the onus on the purchaser to fix their own problems is just too great. Unfortunately I don't live or work in a country that has Apple Shops or "Genius Bars", and Apple doesn't even recognise the countries I live and work in on their drop downs even if I wanted to pay for advice....which I don't htink I should do for a product that cost usd 800 and is only about 6 months old.
Good luck to the Phillies, but I can no longer call myself an Apple_Phan.....this product has just given me too many headaches, and the p[roduct support is as good as non-existent from the folks making all the profit..... or have I missed osmething? Is th eIPod Touch only for computer geeks with broadband and no social life?
    Cheers and Enjoy!

  • Why can I not restore my iPod touch?

I updated my iPod and now it won't turn on and it says to connect it to iTunes. I connected it to iTunes and it says that I must restore it because the iPod is in recovery mode. When I try to restore it, I get a message that says "iPod cannot be restored at this time because the iPod software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable" I've tried all of the troubleshooting options like updating iTunes and windows but nothing works.

    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

  • I can't uppdate my ipod touch 4th generation. What should I do?

I can't back up my ipod touch 4th generation. What do I do?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.
