Why Can't I scan anymore on my HP Officejet 7410

Upgrading to Mavericks on my 2010 MacBook Pro has totally broken my ability to scan on my HP Officejet 7410.
I downloaded the document "How do I scan with the driver from Apple Software Update".
It offers 3 alternative methods for scanning using Mavericks, agreeing that Mavericks breaks the HP Software driver
None of the 3 methods work anymore. (Method 1 used to work but it stopped)
What to do now?
Anyone else having this problem?
Are we expecting a driver upgrade from HP?
Must I abandon HP for one of the newer printers?

Hello JessTandi, Welcome to the HP Forums.  I see that you are having an issue when attempting to print on 11x17 paper. What is the software or printing program you are using when attempting to print on this size?  Please make sure the size is set in the software and on the printing preferences. We can run the HP Print and Scan Doctor just in case there is an issue with the software. Please feel free to write me back if you have any other questions.   Cheers,

    Because scans are image files and not text files. You will need some sort of OCR software to convert the image to an editable document.

    I am frustrated to see that in LV 8.2 we can't change anymore the behaviour of the cursors in graphs.
    There used to be a selectable option between Free, Snap to point... very usefull!
    Now, we must delete the cursor and create a new one to change its behavour.

    This looks like a property that was removed in LabVIEW 8.0.  I will try to see what justification there was and if there is a better work around.

    I purchased an L7650 in 2008. It used to scan to PDF files. About 2 yrs ago it stopped allowing the PDF option. Why? I recently updated all the software through HP but the PDF scan option still is not available.

    Thanks for replying to me with that information, that helps! I have a few ideas in mind to try out.
    1. Run the Print and Scan Doctor tool. This may correct the problem all on its own. If not, continue.
    2. Uninstall the Printer Software
    3. Restart the PC
    4. Reinstall the printer here by downloading and running the installation - HP Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Driver
    You can run the Print and Scan Doctor again if you wish, and can download the tool to your desktop and run it every time you have a printer issue.

  • Why can't I scan more then 20 pages before Adobe XI Pro crashes?

    ever since i moved from Adobe 8 Standard to XI Pro, i can't scan as much as i could. At a given time with 8 i could scan hundreds of pages without issue and now I'm lucky if I am able to scan 20 in a row before it crashes and gives me an "Acrobat.exe - Application Error: The exception unknown software exception (0XC0000409) Occured in the application at location 0X2F946AB9"
    I am running a fully updated Windows XP Pro SP3 with 2gb of ram. with a 3Ghz intel core 2 duo processor, and a Fujitsu Fi-6230 Scanner
    i have already tried the following:
    restarting the machine
    restarting the scanner
    running repair on adobe
    uninstalling, rebooting, then re-installing the scanner drivers
    removing the page file and recreating one at least 2gb
    tried different scan settings
    updated adobe and the twain drivers
    scanning with WIA drivers works to a certain extent but a pain to use
    tested the scanner with scandall PRO(which also works but not with the same functionality adobe has)

    You are probably running against a limitation of either XP or RAM or both. Acrobat XI probably uses more RAM and more resources. You can try to remove and unneeded background processes and see if that helps. For example, just as a test, try to run your scanner while disabling your virus protection. Can you scan more pages?

  • Why can't I "scan and e-mail" documents with my b110?

    I'd like to use the estorage app from google but strangely it's not available in this model.
    The set of apps available to this printer (B110) is ridiculous! Disney, sudoku and some other kids stuff.
    I bought this printer to do real work at home and now I'm getting really frustrated! I don't see no reason for this printer doesn't support the e-storage application other than bad will from HP.
    Isn't enough the ink cartridges rip off?
    Can anyone do anything?

    Thanks for your answer. Besides being very empathic, unfortunately it doesn't solve my issue.
    I can agree that the Photosmart series were not designed for business use, but the general concept behind of the all-in-one printers consists in printers that are suitable for home and small office applications.
    All I want to do is to scan my home bills (electricity, phone, gas, bank, etc.) and store it easily online with google estore application (or anything similar that is free). I would say this can be considered "home use" rather than "business use", wouldn't you agree?
    I believe the target audience for this application is really the home user - not the "real" companies (there are better commercial solutions - not only from HP). So, the argument that should only available to business use is not so convincing, at least in my point of view...
    My main point of frustration here is that I bought a printer that supposedly had  - "huge possibilities because it had a kind of app store, with lots of applications and more being developed everyday" - Salesman words - and now I see that the set of features is quite limited, not because of technical reasons (again, I see no technical reason for this feature not being available for this model), but by commercial ones.
    Wouldn't you feel cheated, frustrated and willing to throw the printer out of the window?

  • Why can't i use anymore my airprint device?

    Hi evrybody. I bought an airprint HP printer a pair of months ago and it works perfectly. I was able to print directly from my iPhone 3gs and from my husband's iPhone 4. Now none of our iphones recognises the printer any more. Can anybody tell me why, please?

    You need to turn the printer off for a minute or so, Go to settings on your phone, general, reset, reset network settings, then after you do that reset your phones, hold the home and off button down until the apple symbol comes up. Then try to print again.

  • Why can I only scan right after login?

    I am using a Canon MX 850 printer/scanner and scanning only works right after I log out and back in again, after a while the scan dialog just shows a grey box.
    Any idea what's causing this and what I can do about it?

    I have been trying to figure this out for ages, ever since Mountain Lion I think.

    I do run "Little Snitch" and I wonder if anybody else is as well? But come to think of it, My wife has the very same problem and is not running little snitch. So ... yeah probably not the cause.

  • Why can't I scan anything onto my MAC as a Word Document?  I'm sure i was able to do it before!

    I'm sure I was able to scan letters etc as a Word Document but now all I send me to able to scan them as are JPEG, PDF etc.
    Is there anything I can do to change this?

    I've not seen a scanning protocol that delivers a ready-to-use Word doc. Usually, you get the OCR scan in text format (.txt), copy it to the clipboard (command c), then open a new Word documat and paste the text into Word.
    Once you have it in Word you can do all the typical formatting that Word allows.
    NOTE: Text scanning is seldom error-free. Yo uwill need to carefully review the text file to look for errors, such as "1" scanning as "!"
    Check you scanner software. If the scanner is capable of OCR, that option will show in the scan menu.
    If you post the make and model of your scanner, that may help people give you a more definitive solution.

    Do you receive any errors?

  • Why can't I print anymore after updating to 10.6.8?

    I can of course not be certain that the update caused the issues I am about to describe but I haven't done any other changes to the computer. It's not a toy where I experiment, it's just for work so that update is the only major change I've had done to it.
    In the GUI the printer just pauses over and over, you can't unpause it because it'll just pause again. I've tried removing it, it's easy to find in the office network so I just add it again as a plain old postscript printer which worked fine until now.
    I've also tried changing the kernel boot architecture to see if it would make a difference but it hasn't, I left it at x86_64.

    I think that it's probably something in the update because other people have been having this problem also. Here's one discussion I found and it might help https://discussions.apple.com/message/15509158 . Try using google and see if you can find an answer.

  • Why can't I scan a regular photo at 1200 x 1200 dpi into Photoshop Elements 11?

    When I try to scan a photo into Photoshop Elements 11 Organizer I get an error message saying it didn't get the file from the device.  File exceeds maximum size allowed.  It's only a regular photo at 1200 x 1200 dpi.  I need it high quality so simply scanning a photo at that resolution shouldn't be a problem.

    That makes perfect sense, except I've discovered a problem with my scanning software.  The scanner is capable of 1200 x 1200 dpi but the software only allows 300 dpi.  It's seems to be a glitch in the current software that needs an update, but in the meantime I was trying to use PSE as a work around since the scanner company said that's what I should use.  I hope there's another solution available in PSE.  Thanks for the suggestion.
