  • Why can't I remove the Genius button from my iPod Touch?

I decided to remove Genius functionality from my iPod, so I shut it off in iTunes.  However, the button still remains on the now playing screen, and Genius playlist is still listed under my Playlists.  If I attempt to make a Genius playlist for any song though, it says I don't ahve enough similar songs to make one.  How do I completely remove Genius from my device?

Have you looked at the previous discussions listed on the right side of this page under the heading "More Like This"?

  • Transfer playlists from old ipod touch to new one?

My daughter downloaded music directly to her ipod touch and made a bunch of different playlists directly on the touch.  She just bought a new touch and would like to transfer the music and playlists from the one touch to the new one.  Is there any way to do this?

After reading several help menus and some discussions here, I was able to solve the problem for the most part.  For those who may have the same question:
Backing up your ipod will not back up music and videos and playlists associated with them in the backup.  It will, however, add all that music to your itunes library, but you are stuck re-creating all of your playlists.  After searching, I found that senuti (itunes backwards) will do the job.  You can download a free trial, or, if you have more than 1000 things to transfer, you can purchase it for $18.99.  You can then move music, videos and any playlists that you created on your ipod onto your computer's itunes and then just transfer those onto the new itunes.  It worked really slick for me.
My only remaining issue was that the backup does not save folders that you may have sorted your apps into.  My daughter had over 200 apps that were all nicely sorted - now she has to recreate all of those folders.  Does anyone have any quick tips for this - or know how to get itunes to save that folder configuration for apps?

  • Why is my app store app gone from my ipod touch 2nd gen

The app store is now missing from my Ipod touch 2nd gen, I don't know how to get it back, also i was wondering if it is possible to get older versions of some apps , example would be the apple remote app, on my 2nd gen ipod touch, since i cannot update the ios.

If you can't find it by the Spotlight search then it is likely hidden by Restrictions. Settings>General>Restrictions.
Many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.
Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

  • Why can't I sync my playlists from my Ipod Classic program over to my new Ipod touch?

I'm not able to sync the playlists from my older Ipod Classic program over to my new Ipod Touch. WHen I connect to the program and drag the playlist up to the Ipid Icon they simply disappear and do not sync with the Ipod Touch.

Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?

  • Why cant I drag a photo say from Facebook into Iphoto anymore

Hi, I'm not very techy, in the last few days I seem unable to drag a photo say from Facebook into Iphoto anymore, always been able to before, any ideas what I may be doing wrong?

It's only a workaround till you find a solution.  This problem is not affecting everyone so it's associated with one's particular setup.
Boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and try from there. Next boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command+R keys held down, and run Disk Utility to repair permissions and repair the disk.  If that doesn't help boot again in the Recovery volume and reinstall the system.

  • Itunes will not accept playlist from old ipod touch

Recently purchased a new Ipod touch. Gave my old one to a friend and when they tried to sync it with their computer. An error message came up "shared playlist not allowed. Gave an option of erase and sync. Not sure what to do.

It has nothing to do with iCloud.  The sync should handle it.

  • Can I get the library from my Ipod touch next generation back to my PC?

Can I get the library from my Ipod touch next generation back to my PC?
My PC got a virus and I had to reinstall windows from scratch so I lost most of my music. I had a backup program that died in the middle of it so only half came back. the only place that I have all the songs is on the ipod. if I let it sinc it will loose the half that I do not have.
Any ideas on which direction I should go?

If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
If at any point you get a message that your iPod is linked to another library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.

  • Can you restore an iTunes Library from an iPod Touch??

I had a hard drive crash on my PC and lost my iTunes Library. Can I recreate it from my iPod Touch? My fear is that I'll connect my iPod and everything will be erased. I have not yet downloaded new iTunes s/w.
    Jim

Open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Prevent iPods and iPhones from syncing automatically" and choose Ok before connecting your device.

Once you have recovered everything from the iPod and your iTunes library has been rebuilt it will be safe to sync again.
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • Retrieving everything from my iPod Touch

Ok, i've searched these forums to know how to retrieve
my itunes library, without any decent answer.
My hdd crashed, a bad thing, but i was a lucky guy and retrieved all 'my documents'
now, with a full speed, steady and fresh Windows xp professional,
i came across the problem of 2500 songs being in my back-up of documents, which i want
to have in my library too ofcourse.
    I can't sync my ipod...no fun
here are 2 positive things :
my iPod Touch's still got all songs
i found some library files from my back-up documents (might be library back-up?)
how can i get my songs back without trouble?
    Thx in advance!
this is the second time that i post this...itunes recognises my ipod as 'iPod Touch' while the name used to be 'Ollii's iPod Touch', which actually still is the name of my iPod if i look it up on the device itself..
i might just need to get everything copied from my ipod touch to my library (really, everything)

  • Can't create a Genius Playlist from most 2011 songs.

For some reason, I cant seem to make a Genius Playlist from what seems like any song bought in the latter half of 2011.  Is anyone else having this same problem? Any help is appreciated.

I've had the same problem since having my 4S on AT&T and now on my 5. Siri responds with "playing similar songs" but the previous playlist or shuffle keeps going. This used to work but I'm not sure which iOS update broke it.
