Why did Oracle get rid of iSQLPlus?

This is a question for Oracle. Why did you get rid of iSQLPlus without replacing its capbilities? Both SQL Developer and APEX are for developers, but the end user no longer has a web-based method for running SQL queries. What are they to use if they are unable to have the client installed on their server and are not allowed to logon to the Oracle server in order to useSQL Developer's query abilities? How can an administator limit an end-users APEX permissions to query-building only?

I'm not Oracle, so I won't even give opinions on your question. some advice however - ask your last question on the APEX forum.

Why did Apple get rid of the DVD slot in the MacBook Pro?

Because relatively few people used it and Apple wanted to decrease the size/price of the computers.

  • Why did Adobe get rid of 'No Color Management' option in CS5

I use this option (in earlier CS verisons) when printing digital negatives on transparency film on my Epson 3880. There are a few work-arounds, including a printer utility from Adobe (which only works on tIff files, so it's limitied).
But why, oh why did they get rid of this option in the first place. Did someone just decide, gee, I don't think that's a feature we want anymore in our program, so, puff, it's gone? I hate it when program 'updates' make my work harder instead of easier.

Can you prove this with a supporting document?
Nope...I was told this by engineers familiar with the initiative...

ACPU and for that matter i1Profiler sends print image data (untagged I assume) through ColorSync and the print driver the exact same way as Lightroom and PSCS5 do when Application Manages Color is selected when printing. The only difference is that LR and PS do not allow you to send untagged image data.
ACPU does send the untagged data through Colorsync, but the image data gets converted by Colorsync or ACPU to the printer profile chosen in the print driver as set up in the Print window of ACPU...so, since the document is in the final profile space of the printer, the print driver does nothing (null transform). Then you choose don't manage color in the driver. Exactly how ACPU works with Colorsync to avoid having Colorsync to an unwanted color transform isn't clear (would have to ask the engineer that wrote it), ACPU is clearly doing SOMETHING different than Photoshop and Lightroom when sending the image data to the printer.
You can see what profile gets embedded when printing from ACPU by setting up the driver and saving a PDF and opening in Photoshop. When I printed to PDF from ACPU after setting up the driver to use Epson Glossy paper on an Epson R3000, the embedded profile in the PDF was SPR3000 Premium Glossy. Which if sent to the printer should result in a null transform. This is similar to the CS5 work around to tag an image with a color space and have that same color space set in Photoshop Manages Color and set the Printer Profile color space to be the same thus bypassing the Colorsync "generic RGB" transform. However, that work around no longer works with Photoshop CS6 (we were warned that this might happen BTW).
I haven't tried it yet, but it's possible that you could still work around this in CS6 if you take an untagged target, assign the printer profile, then use Photoshop Manages Color with the profile being the same printer profile and then in the driver set do not color manage...actually, scratch that–I just tried that and CS6 pops a warning that "No Color Managment is not supported" when trying to print without the proper color management and to get ACPU with a link to download it. I guess Photoshop got pretty serious about disallowing this sort of printing. Heck, you can't even print to PDF.
On the other hand, the simplest solution for me is to simply print out the target using i1Profiler...

  • Why did Appel get Rid of the YouTube app in iso 6

Why did Appel get Rid of the YouTube app in iso 6. Does anyone know where to get the original YouTube app that was on the iPad?

You cannot download the original YouTube app. There is an iPhone version in the App Store but its not the same. Google is reportedly working on an iPad YouTube app.
    This may enlighten you.

Why did apple get rid of gifting in iOS 6? I did all my app gifting from my iPhone and iPad. I have to say, I will probably gift less since it's way less convent now.

Then you and the other people to whom you refer were contributing to "backscatter" and possible relaying of spam/viruses. Not to mention that you were providing a test bed for spammers to test mail servers and addresses.
Bouncing is similar to auto reply. Email could get caught up in infinite loops. These actions should only be configured at the server level not in an email client.
Short example: A spammer sends you an email using my return address. You bounce the email. I get your bounce and have set up my own bounce. You get the email back from my bounce. You bounce it back to me, you get the picture.

  • When and why did they get rid of the emac?

When did they get rid of it? What for?

It stopped being visible on the main retail store upon the release of the latest iMacs. I have no answer to why.
You can always find used and refurbished eMacs. And they may also still be available on educational stores. Since I'm not a college student or k-college educator, I can't check those stores to tell for certain. Remember, when it was initially released it was only available on educational stores.

  • Why did you get rid of the track option in ALL Revel apps?

I am a subscribed Revel user that was once happy with what Revel offered but NOT anymore.  I organize my photos inside albums by events.  Why?  Because that is the ONLY organization available from Revel without creating thousands of albums.  So why did you COMPLETELY get rid of viewing albums by track?  I can't see my tracks, or events, in albums on iOS or on the Mac (because of the new update) and definitely not on the web.  What's up?  When will this be coming back?  Every update that has come on Revel has been a HUGE disappoint, lets not even mention the failing to update fiasco.  I am ready to switch applications and void ALL of the work I have done putting ALL my photos into Revel.  Help me out here please.  Somebody please get back to me and let me know what to expect or change or if I do need to be looking somewhere else for better more reliable photo storage.

What I am actually refering to is the "track" view inside of the albums.  Track view exists in the "collection" option or the file drawer option on all Apple apps, iPad, iPhone, and the Mac, but the track option that once existed when looking at individual albums is no longer there on ANY device.

  • Why did Apple Get rid of internal modem for fax?

    Hey Guy's
I just wanted to now if anyone new why Apple got rid of the Internal modem when they were switching from Powerbook G4 to MacBook Pro.
    Thanks, Zach

In some ways I'm glad they did.
    Internal modems carry these disadvantages:
    1. They take more power out of the system, so they drain the battery.
    2. In order to disconnect a hanging connection, sometimes the power to the modem has to be shut off. That forces you to reboot your Mac, and sometimes it forces you to reboot it without saving your data, or going through the proper shut down procedure, which in turn can damage your directory.
    3. They can be a point that gets fried first when lightning strikes the telephone line. That in turn can lead to a damaged logicboard. By making it a dongle, it gives lightning less of an obvious way to travel to your machine. Not that you still can't get hurt, but the risk is reduced.
    4. Any item connected to the logicboard circuitry directly can get bent, and require replacing the logicboard. Common problems with USB ports and Firewire ports are people who improperly connect the cable and damage the ports. When tied directly to the logicboard the components are hard to replace.
When you consider the use of such modems much reduced, removing it from the mix makes a lot of sense. Whether that's the reason engineers decided to do it, will always remain a mystery, but it makes sense from a logical perspective.

  • APPS, why did you get rid of them????

I find it strange that no one else is talking abou this, but why on earth did they loose the apps option???  One of the best ways of finding new music efficiently was using apps like Shuffler.fm, pitchfork, anynewmusic etc  I used these apps religiously to descover new and interesting things about music and now they've just removed it, it was one of the best things about spotify!
    Bring them back!

    > This doesn't means that you don't have an app finder anymore. Some apps will/could return. > The Lyrics app (MusixMatch) already made it's return. Lyrics is now an officially supported Spotify feature. So I get you are a moderator and therefore must support all things spotify, but this was a pretty shady move. Forcing updates down peoples throats and providing no alternative. I work at software startup and the quote is "software is like a child, once its out you have to support it for 18 years". They made the decision to create an app ecosystem. Discontinuing it overnight through a forced update without allowing customers to opt out is saying "oops we made a mistake, please pick up the tab for us". The classy thing to do would be to find the 10-20 most used apps and roll those features into spotify then give ample runway to age off the old stuff. A lengthy and costly decision for sure, but reasonable because spotify is the one that released the app ecosystem in the first place. They owe it to their customers.

  • Why did you get rid of your loyalty program? Where is my incentive to stay?

I've been with the Verizon I believe since 2004. I've always taken advantage of the "new every 2" program that was terminated last year. Now that my phone is starting to fail when I looked into an upgrade I was reminded that my eligibility was pushed back from 20 months to 24. I don't get why in a competitive market you would eliminate a loyalty program and not introduce anything new to encourage loyalty. I'm not sure when my contract is up and I then become eligible for an upgrade if I really want to stay with a company that doesn't seem to value me.

What I am actually refering to is the "track" view inside of the albums.  Track view exists in the "collection" option or the file drawer option on all Apple apps, iPad, iPhone, and the Mac, but the track option that once existed when looking at individual albums is no longer there on ANY device.

  • Why did Adobe get rid of making nice neat PDF contact sheets directly in Bridge??

I know there is an output module, but it is not really any help! It still uses photoshop to create multiple seperate PSD files and takes forever! It is VERY important at my job to make contact sheets, we need them to go through hundreds of pictures. Why can't you just bring back making it straight in Bridge? It was so much faster and convenient. I cannot afford to wait while Photoshop generates 50 pages of 8 thumbnails for me as it ties up my computer, not to mention the steps to convert those files into one nice pdf. It is incredibly frustrating!  Just makes no sense Adobe would do this??

I know there is an output module, but it is not really any help! It still uses photoshop to create multiple seperate PSD files and takes forever!
Not sure I understand your problem but I guess you have Bridge CC and now you don't have the option to use the Adobe Output Module? The output module you are talking about is the old contact sheet script that indeed produces loose sheets (PSD, but also jpeg) and can take a while depending on your settings.
But you still have the option to install the Output Module for Bridge CC again, but you have to do it yourself, it can be downloaded via this link but you should first read the instructions carefully because it needs some attention. With the Output module you can use Bridge again to create PDF documents with many pages and custom lay out.:
