Why do I have duplication of calendar and contacts on my i-phone after sync

Had to reset my i-phone to factory settings after a glitch with the ipod thinking it was constantly playing. Since then, my sync between i-mac and the phone duplicates my calendar activities and every contact in my address book. Anyone got simple step by step answers on how to deal with this?

  • I would like to change my iPad to use the same iTunes ID as my husband's so we can share our music, apps, etc. Will I be able to have my own calendar and contacts?

I have an imac, and ipad, and now an iphone. I also have my own itunes account. My husband has an itunes account as well for his ipad. Since he has spent more money on apps, music, etc, I'd like to switch my devices to use his account, even if it means losing the few apps or songs that I bought on my account. If I do this, will I still be able to have my own calendar and contacts?

No need to switch. You can use both his apps, music, etc. and yours.

  • I have a new MacBook Air and have just installed Office 365. I would like to transfer the data I have in mac calendar and contacts to Outlook. Is this possible? If yes how.

Is there a way to get Outlook to sync to the calendar and then to my phone (iphone4)?
I also need the contact list to sync to the computer, but not ot my phone.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Yes I have received and answer. You cannot import your contacts or ical information into Outlook. You have to re-enter everything. It gets even worse.
With the newer Mac's, you cannot sync your iphone with Outlook. There use to be a way of doing this, but if you are running Yosemite, you cannot, so in
order to have the calendar information on your iphone and Outlook, you have to enter the information into both Outlook AND ical.

I had an electrical problem during a thunderstorm. When I rebooted my computer my calender in Outlook 2010 and my contacts are gone.  They are still in the cloud and still on my iPad.  How can I get them back to my PC?  I am running Vista Ultimate 32 bit PC with SP2. Help!

    Hi there,
I've done something to my iMac and I'm not quite sure what happened.  I went and changed the name on my "home" icon.  When i went to my email- it needed keychain permissions- so i said ok.  i'm guessing that it deleted my previous account.  Ithen went  to update some software (safari) and i needed to restart my computer.  When it restarted- it opened up clean...email needed to be reset up, iTunes- empty- acts brand new; same with iPhoto- all my pics gone.  I was able to find my documents-but no luck on the rest...And when I tried to save a new photo- it is telling me that my hard drive is out of space- leading me to believe that my music and photos must be on there somewhere...
I have searched- but to no avail.  Not sure what to do.  and I don't have any other "accounts" to open - such as my old name.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Much appreciated in advance!

    So many issues here!
    1. You should never ever change the name of your Home icon - that's the short name of your User Account which is a total no-no. (Why don't Apple issue a grim warning when users try to do this?). Check out these old discussion threads which may contain something of interest or help :
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/7069252#7069252
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/4675452#4675452
    2. This needs recovering from - see the first discussion thread (above). Your User Account is being treated as a new one, but your old data should be there - read the discussion
    3. You must have been close to a full HD even before this happened? This is inadvisable - you should always have around 10% of your HD free, or at the very least, OS X will start to slow down dramatically.
Hopefully the first thread above will point you to a fix of your problem.

  • Duplications in Calendars and Contacts after downloading Mountain Lion

I just recently download Mountain Lion.  All of my Calendars information transfered over but much of it is duplicated and information is on the wrong calendar.  An example is that all the information that was on my calendar "Life" is now on a different calendar titled "School."  My contacts also duplicated many people.  What is the issue and whats the best way to fix this?

  • After downloading ios6.0.1 for iphone 4 i am unable to transfer my outlook7 calendar and contact info to the phone - i am not now given the option on the info tab of synching with outlook  -the info reads my calendar is being synched over the air w/o ?

w/o ability to change it to my preference .

    Here are your options:
    1. Export from Palm Desktop and import to iCal and Address Book Instructions are here:
    http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/pre/migration/exportical.html
The downer is that this will lose your categories in Address Book, I think.
    2. Get Missing Sync here:
    http://www.markspace.com/products/palm/palm-sync-software.html?source=pickerpalmosmac
    3. Sync the Treo to Address Book and iCal, then connect the iPhone and sync from AB/iCal to the iPhone. Instructions here
    http://askville.amazon.com/Palm-Treo-700p-sync-Mac-OS-iCal-Address-Book/AnswerVi ewer.do?requestId=2508818
Number 3 is your best bet - it should retain all the categories etc. However, doing this in a hurry is a recipe for panic. My advice is to try 3 first. If you can't get it to work, try 1. Although that might lose categories, it gets everything onto the iPhone, and the iPhone's built-in Spotlight search will enable you to find people, events etc really quickly. And it's easy and quick. Later on, when you have time, you can try something cleverer.
    You don't need Missing Sync

  • My iTunes only syncs my calendar and contacts on the second sync, why?

When I sync my Outlook Calendar and Contacts with iTunes, I noticed the first sync does the backup but doesn't sync the calendar and contacts. I need to click sync a second time and then it syncs my calendar and contacts. How do I set it up where it syncs everything including cal/contacts on the first sync?
Second Question: From when I had MM, I noticed it shows Work, Home, and Calendar under my Calendar. I want to consolidate and only have Calendar. Is there a way to consolidate all 3 and delete Home and Work?

  • My iMac calendar and contacts no longer sync on iPhone and iPad?

I updated iTunes on my iMac a few months ago. Since then my calendar and my contacts on the iMac have not been syncing on my iPhone and my iPad. My memory says there used to be an "Info" button at the top of the iTunes interface when I had my iPhone or iPad connected to the iMac for syncing. Do not see that button any more? Have been looking and looking for some new way to sync my calendar and my contacts, but have not found anything. This is one of several disappointments with the new iTunes. How do I get my iMac, iPhone, iPad calendars and contacts to sync??
It's been a real pain to have to enter calendar and contact information into all three! My iMac runs on Maverick, my iTunes is 11.1.3, and the iPhone and iPad run on iOS 7.0.4

    Hello Bev76,
Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like contacts and calendars on your iPad are not being synced to your iPhone 5, but the data syncs from iPhone to iPad.

  • Calendar and Contacts just stopped working

I have an odd issue creep up that Apple Enterprise support and I cannot seem to remedy, I am hopeful someone here might give me some insight.
Mac Mini Server, Running OS X Server 10.8.4.
A few users (no Open Directory)
Each user has their own contacts and calendars.
Each user can enter user and password to see server shares
As of yesterday each users account on their client Macs cannot access either contacts or calendars, the server keeps asking for the password within both calendar and contact apps, entering in the correct password still yields the error.
    I have tried:
    -resetting the password
-logging that user in directly to use the server be sure they can login, they can.
-resetting the password with must reset password upon next login checked
    -reset all the services
-reset the databse for contacts and calendars via terminal
    -removed keys from keychain
-looked at console and found errors, but they don't point to much
-restored the entire server from a TM backup when I know all was working fine. Did that and then accounts that were working no longer work, so it became worse
-apple is stumped, therefore I am starting phase 3 of digging deeper
Their suggestion at this point is a clean install of the OS which is a large undertaking and does not provide comfort as I am not sure what started this issue to begin with therefore it could come up again.
Any one out there with any ideas? I can provide more information if needed.

Yes indeed will do that. Another item I found curious is some accounts I deleted and tried to create them again but got an error stating that I could not create that account because there was another one with that name. I checked this in terminal as well but even there the account could not be found.
This am I restored from a TM backup from July 1st and things are smooth. Apple Eng suggested instead of putting the same calendar and contact account on each client Mac so that multiple users have the same calendar and contacts accounts in order to read and write to those, instead use delegation for multiple calendars and contacts. The PostgreSQL will work more effieciently with delegation.
    Any experience with this?
I had a situation very similar to yours some two years ago (Server 10.6).  Happened out of the blue as I was finishing setting up the server.  All of a sudden the calendar and contacts stopped working.  In their situation we had one account used just for calendar and contact.  Separate credentials for shares etc, and no OD.  I basically did everything you mentioned in the OP several times, hours on the phone w/ Enterprise Support.  Even escallated to Engineering but nothing worked.  Ended up doing a nuke and pave.
On the delegation versus adding each account thing.  I've done both ways and never had any problems.  In fact my production server has half a dozen separate accounts for major customers of mine.  The only problem I have had is with my iPhone.  For some reason it randomly stops updating an account so I have to remove and re-add the account.  Does not happen on my iPad though.

  • Outlook calendar and contacts sync limits with Xperia Z1 Compact

I have just set up my Xperia to sync with Outlook Calendar and contacts- took a while to realise outlook calendar needed to be closed to work, however now that I am able to sync my calendar and contact, I am only able to sync some of the items in my contact and the calendar updates to my phone only sync for a few months.  Is there an option on this phone or in PC Companion where I can sync all calendar and contact entries, or somewhere that limits entries that I can switch off?

There was a setting I hadn't found in the PC Companion software:
On the start sync page there is a settings heading next to a spanner on the righthand side - this takes you to sync settings
Select Personal Data Selection and then the properties button for Calendar
You can then set the sync to select all your appointments or a subset.
I hope that this helps someone - it has taken hours to find this setting!

  • My MAcBook has 10.7.5 I wanted to update to Mountain Lion. I am told I cannot do this. Why? Also, my desktop has Calendar and MacBook has ICal I cannot link them together. Any help there?

My MacBook is 10.7.5 I wanted to update and purchase Mountain Lion app. I was told that I couldn't. I can understand, why? Also my newIMAC has Calendar and my MacBook has ICal. They are not linking together. CAn anyone help?

No, the model 4,1 Early 2008 MacBook will not be able to run Mountain Lion.
It's mainly the video card. The Models 2,1 through 4,1 have video cards with non-upgradeable 32bit drivers. The model 5,1 Late 2008 and newer have at least the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M with 64bit drivers. Mountain Lion requires 64bit native drivers. Mountain Lion no longer supports Intel's GMA 950 or GMA X3100 graphics processors.
While Lion used some 32 bit and a lot of 64 bit code, Mountain Lion is pure 64 bit, which excludes more systems than Lion did. It's not something you can add memory to, for example, as it involves the base architecture.

  • Why remove sync to iTunes for calendar and contacts?

Why in the world would Apple remove the capability to sync your iphone's calendar, contacts and notes to your desktop via iTunes in Mavericks?   I can see no benefit whatsoever.  Do you really believe everyone wants to use iCloud?  I don't care how strong your firewalls are and how well you encrypt data ... a dedicated and motivated hacker can get into your systems and Apple is a huge target.
I was just fine with syncing my calendar and contacts locally on my computer (not a huge target).
Please reinstate this very useful and convenient capability.

Do I really have to justify why the feature is useful?  Just because you need updates every second and don't mind putting all the personal contact information for your friends and family on a server accessable to the internet and a world of hackers that would love to compromise a big target like iCloud doesn't mean everyone should have to.  There are valid reasons to keep your information private and there was a perfectly useful option to make that easy.  There is a huge list of top tech companies that have been breached by determined and motivated hackers (read Sony, Microsoft, and even developer.apple.com).  It makes no sense to me to remove a useful tool and force everyone to entrust their personal information to a third party (any third party).  Options are good.  Choice lets everyone satisfy their needs.

  • I can hardly believe my old school Palm Pre was much friendlier than the IPhone.  I have had it for more than six months and still cannot sync my Outlook calendars and contacts.  I get a message like, "no calendar application  identified."    help!

My old school palm pre was much friendlier than the IPHONE 3G.  I was able to sync my outlook calendars and contacts via wi-fi effortlessly.  I tunes did sync once or twice in the six months that I have had it, but more often it acts like it is syncing and ultimately delivers a message like "no calendar application is supported".  Why the back and forth.  Very frustrating after literally hours of trying to sync my phone with my Outlook calendar and contacts.  HELP!!!!

What version of MS Office do you have installed? Have you tried re-installing office over top of itself? It may not be properly registered with the OS.

I get double entries when I back up calendar and contacts.   Why?

may you using different apple ID's on your different systems ? In that case, you might have more than one icloud ID and syncing/mounting any calendars in one view, so you have the same entry doubled
