Why do I keep getting an error message everytime I try to burn a cd

Please help, for days now I have not been able to burn a CD. Everytime I try to burn a disc, I keep getting the message "The attempt to burn a CD failed. The burn failed because of a medium write error". Is anyone else having the same problems if so are there any solution.Any information will be appreciated.

Search the forum (I use a general web search engine) and you will find hundreds and hundreds of posts about this, spanning over a decade.  You may even find one of the several posts I make about this each month.
Try restarting your computer.
Try a slower burn speed.
Try a different brand of media.
Try using an optical drive cleaning disc.
See if you can burn successfully outside of iTunes.  There's many free burning utilities out there (check www.pure-mac.com).  If those fail then it is likely something more fundamentally wrong with the drive.  Any Macbook old enough to be running 10.5.8 may well be old enough to need a new optical drive.
