Why do sites in Safari 6's reading list say "waiting"

I'm running Lion (10.7.4). Ever since I upgraded to Safari 6, the sites listed in Reading List show a "Waiting..." attribute. This never goes away.
Any solutions?

Try enabling the Develop menu so you can empty the cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences > Advanced
Select:  Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now from the menu bar click Develop > Empty Caches
Quit then relaunch Safari to test.
If that doesn't help, open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go
Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

The missing apps could have been done by setting the Restrictions that can hid those apps. If the backup was made with those retrictions set the the Restrictions are also restored.

  • How do I export my safari 5.1 Reading list?

Does anyone know how to export an iMac's Safari 5.1 reading list to a Macbook Pro (with Safari 5.1 too)?
    Thank You in advance

Spoke to many an Apple "genius" and Safari cannot export Reading List.
Chrome can very easily import the Reading List though. In Chrome:
From the "Customize and Control Google Chrome" menu (button with 3 horizontal lines in far right top corner), choose "Bookmarks" > "Import Bookmarks and Settings"
In the "Import Bookmarks and Settings..." window, select "Safari" and make sure that the "Favorites/Bookmarks" option is checked, then click "Import"
Now, in Chrome Bookmarks menu, you should find a new folder called "Imported from Safari" with a subfolder called "com.apple.ReadingList" that's it.
Alternatively you can open the Terminal application on a Mac (search it in Launchpad if you can't find it) and paste this:
    /usr/bin/plutil -convert xml1 -o - ~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist | grep -E  -o '<string>http[s]{0,1}://.*</string>' | grep -v icloud | sed -E 's/<\/{0,1}string>//g'
Hit return and it will list all your Reading List links as text which you can copy and paste elsewhere.
    Happy days

  • Safari...Reading List

There is an option to edit "Bookmarks"; however there is not one for the "Reading List". Is there a way to edit? If not, Apple can the option be added with an update???

  • Why must I use Safari with Adobe Reader X?

I operate a Mac (OS X 10.6.8) and I prefer Firefox over Safari. For years I have used Adobe Reader 9 with Firefox (6.0.2) and have had no trouble. Now I download Reader X and it demands Safari. So what must I do? Return to Safari (do not like it!) or return to Reader 9, which, incidentally, does not work on Firefox NOW! Why? Is Firefox bad news or something? If anyone out there in cyberland can help, thanks.

And yes i can open by the programm itself directly, but i have no idea how to correct the file association then....

  • After updating to iOS 8.1.3 all of my reading lists and favorites are gone off of safari

Why did I lose all of my reading lists and favorites on safari when I updated to iOS 8.1.3

    Hello, Tony.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that your iPad no long starts after an update and you have a backup for your iPad.  It sounds like you will need to restore the device to factory and then will have the option to access your backup after the restore complete.  The only information that should be missing would be after the backup was completed until the device is restored.  I have included the steps for going through this process in the articles below.

I know it's been a while, but in case others come across this problem:
You need to have the iCloud Control Panel for Windows installed and Bookmark synchronization set to Safari for syncing reading lists to work.

  • Why does reading list no longer allow offline reading?

For as long as I've had my iPhone 4S I've used Safari's Reading List to save pages from the browser to read later (so that I don't eat up the data on my plan). It's worked just fine for months, but now, in the last couple weeks, everything I have saved on my Reading List says that it is "Not Available for Offline Reading". Is anyone else having this issue?

    Hello Tseecka,
It sounds like you are not able to use the Offline Reading List feature on your iPhone 4S.  According to iOS 6: Which software features does my iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch support? (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5457), your iPhone 4S does support the offline reading list feature.
I found an article that has steps to troubleshoot issues with the Reading List.  I recommend following the steps under the section titled "Troubleshooting Bookmarks and Reading List update or setup issues on iOS devices" in the following article:
iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Bookmarks and Reading List

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

  • Safari Reading List - entries duplicated 70 times!

Today I went into the Reading List panel in Safari and discovered that most of the entries have been duplicated 60-70 times. To make matters worse, you have to delete the duplicate entries one at a time. At this rate it will takes hours to fix.
    -- any fix for this?
-- Does any one know where Safari stores the reading list information so I can restore from a Time Machine backup?
    Thanks!
    Eric

On my reading list there is a "Clear All" button at the top.

  • Since upgrading to ios8, pages very slow to load, and can no longer read items in my reading list when offline. ?????

SI since upgrading to ios8, Safari pages are very slow to load, Kindle crashes upon opening, and I can no longer read saved artices from my reading list when offline. Big disappointment. Is it possible to downgrade to previous ios?

I actually managed to fix it! But unfortunately I don't know what I was that I did that helped.
Anyways, this is kind of what I did.
    1. I tried to reset form bakup via iTunes, no change.
    2. I tried to reset as a new iPhone, problem still there and reading list also as bookmarks!? (several hundred)
    3. Noticed that I could delete a bookmark, once in a while, the other times I got the 'Bookmarks are being synced. Please edit the bookmarks once syncing has completed.' message.
    4. Because I figured that it was a memory problem, I thought it made sense to delete as many as possible, witch I did.
    5. Noticed that it was more likely that I coould delete a bookmark if I restarted Safari.
    6. Notice that it was even more likely that I could delete a bookmark if I turned the Safari sync with iCould off (with option detete information on iPhone) and then back on again.
    7. When I was about half way through deleting the bookmark list I suddenly discovered that all but one of the items in my reading list was 'waiting' and one was downloading. I kind of was 'unstuck' now.
    8. I started to delete items in my reading list, but every other time I got the 'Bookmarks are being synced. Please edit the bookmarks once syncing has completed.' message.
    9. It took a while to delete all bookmarks and items in the reading list.
Hope you guys could use the info here to fix your problems too!

  • Can no longer add / remove to bookmarks / reading list since ios 6 upgrade

    Hi all,
I upgraded my ipod touch to ios 6 last night, and since the upgrade I can no longer add / remove bookmarks or add / remove items to the reading list in safari.
Whenever I try I get the 'Bookmarks are being synced. Please edit the bookmarks once syncing has completed.' message.
    So far I've tried;
    A hard reset
Turning off Safari in the icloud settings
I still can't do anything with the bookmarks / reading list, I just don't get the 'Bookmarks are being synced' message
Ensuring that push notifications are enabled for icloud
I'm not sure what to try next.....
When I disable Safari in the icloud settings, it asks me if I want to keep a copy of previously synched bookmarks on my ipod - So far I have as I don't want to lose them.
I'm guessing the next step is to not keep a copy and hope ios wipes them - If I do this will the bookmarks still be available in icloud when I turn safari data back on?
    Cheers
    Macca

  • Reading List Disappeared

I've been working on getting the Reading List on the MacBook Pro to sync with the iPad so the list is available on both devices. Even though I've followed the advice of many postings herein, including be certain the settings are correct, nothing is correcting the problem. There has been a lengthy reading list on the MBP and nothing on the iPad.
Now, there's no Reading List on the MBP. It just disappeared....whifff....
Does anyone know how to get it back?

Try it again, and if it doesn't work, you could try restoring from a backup. This will only work if you have a very recent backup that includes your most recent Safari History and Reading List.
