Why does Airport Extreme stop working when I plug in a USB hard drive? The USB drive has its own power supply. I've tried isolating the hard drive from Airport using a powered USB hub to no avail.

The USB port on the AirPort Extreme is borderline as far as its ability to supply adequate power to a hard drive. Another way of saying the same thing is that this is not a high power USB port, like you would find on a computer.
Your 2TB drive likely requires a bit more current than the USB port on the AirPort Extreme can supply. It is also possible that the drive's firmware may not support a network USB connection....only a "local" connection to a computer. Check with Seagate support on that possibility.
Try using a powered USB hub with the 2TB drive....and make sure that the drive is formatted correctly in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) or FAT32....which the AirPort Extreme USB port can accept.

I would honestly take a look at the physical jack it is connected to for corrosion or lose connections as I doubt the filter is bad out of the box. Anyways, what was the original problem you had with the Phone and DSL that prompted Verizon to send out a filter?

Why does my MacBook stop working when I try to plug in my iPad to do some file syncing? This is the second time I have had it happen to my MacBook. The computer just shuts down and cannot be restarted. When I plug it into the charger I get a faint Green light where it plugs into the MacBook. When I took the computer into my local Mac store last time this happened (Nov 2012) they reckoned they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Has any body else encountered a similar issue?

Why does comments.vi stop working when server directory changes?

With web server root directory set to "C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.2\www",
I point my browser to "http://localhost/cgi-bin/examples/comments.vi" and I get the comment form.
Next, I quit the G Web Server, set the server root to "c:\ats\www",
I copy the comments.vi and comments.llb files to c:\ats\www\cgi-bin and point my browser to http://localhost/cgi-bin/comments.vi. Instead of showing the form as before, I get a dialog box prompting me to either "Open with..." or "Save to disk". I'm using Firefox. Why does this happen? Is there a configuration that I must set up to get the G Web Server to work at other than the default location?

To your browser, you're looking at a website (served on localhost in this case) and pointing to a specific file (in this case a VI). Just as if you point your browser to an address of the form www.website.com/file.pdf it will ask you what you want to do with the file--open or save it. In this dialog box, you should have the option to automatically do what you select for the file type from now on.
The dialog box itself has nothing to do with changing your server root, it has to do with what your browser is configured (or not configured) to do with the VI file type. As for why this didn't happen the first time and it's prompting you now, maybe the action got changed for the VI file type. This can be configured in Firefox by going to the content tab of tools->options.

iTunes is not fully functional when operating in Safe Mode, so its possible that the component that supports Audible content is not running. If iTunes will only run in Safe Mode then there's an issue with your installation - see Turingtest2's tutorial Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates, in particular the section on removing all components of iTunes before installing the latest version.
I have Audible .aa files on a 2nd gen iPod Nano so there shouldn't be an issue with age ...

Whenever I get a new message on Facebook chat, my keyboard stops working on all Firefox tabs. If I switch tabs or close and open the chat it starts working again. It's definitely not a problem with the keyboard, I've had no problems typing in Notepad while messages come in on the chat.

Why does my printer not work when i plug in the internet? (ethernet)

hey guys,
i have the Mac connected to a large digital printer via the ethernet connection. works fine, no problems untill i plug in the internet. I get an error message in my software and can't print any jobs, but the internet works fine.
I have a feeling that its a network problem, but don't want to mess around too much with the settings.
This is a company internet connection.
if anyone could advise of the possible network settings, I would be very greatful.

Your Mac sends traffic to the interface at the top of the list in
System Preferences > Network
When you plug in the second Ethernet, that Interface jumps to the top of the list and all traffic goes there.
The solution is to cable that Printer to your Router, not to your Mac.
Alternatively, you could add a small Switch and connect your Mac and the printer to it.
If you really want to you can use Internet Sharing to add the Ethernet port going to the Printer to the Network connacted to the Internet.

Why does Airport keep stopping working?

Particularly while I'm downloading files from iTunes (but not exclusively then), I repeatedly have to switch AirPort off and then on again, because it seems to stop being able to download any data, although the status in system preferences is still showing as normal. Suddenly, iTunes will give me a download error, and I can't access any content on the internet. It works fine again once I've reset AirPort, but the problem crops up again anywhere from 2 minutes to an hour later. Any thoughts on why this is happening, and how to fix it?

It's at home, so just a wireless router and a cable modem, and no enterprise firewall. I don't think its an issue with either the router or the modem, because I've not had similar problems with other devices (Windows laptop; iPad; iPhone) connected to the same network.
(in the time between my original post and this one, I've had to reset AirPort on the Mac twice)

Probably because you have a hardware problem. To rule out a softwre problem try:
- Reset:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPod from backup
- Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod
If still problem, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I had the same exact issue, which you can see in another forum.
I "killed" both my MBP and my wife's MBP by plugging in my iPhone and getting a message about USB drawing too much power.
It was not fixed by using an SMC reset.
I DID fix it by unplugging the battery, I left it unplugged long enough to remove the RAM, HD and put some RAM and HD back into place. (I initially swapped the RAM and HD from my MBP into my wife's MBP.
After that everything was good, although upon first boot, some apps crashed because of the "system date" being set to a date before 2000. I forget the exact date, but it will be some time in 1984, the birthdate of the Macintosh. It is not a big issue, just correct the date and time.
If you are curious about that date, copy a large file on your drive and look at the CREATED/MODIFIED date....it will show this same date, until the copy is complete, at which time you will see the correct one.
Once again, try to disconnect your battery, very carefully by lifting up the connecter evenly on both sides to avoid damaging the connector or the board.

i'm sorry you're having issue swith the sound on your device chawntae. I know this is frustrating but we are here to help. What phone do you have? Are you using a headset, bluetooth, or just the speakers? Is there any damage to your phone?
