Why does firefox become less userfriendly with each update? first there no tab saver addon anymore and now there is no way to place spaces between the buttons

there seems to be no possible way for any software developer to understand that whenever you release an update that changes the interface of the software it only annoys people
i am now searching for a usable downgrade and looking around for an alternative for firefox
thx for replacing userfriendlyness with that smooth and simple layout
bringing back tab saver would perhaps change my mind despite the fact that my google search box and webadress box is now as wide as my screen witch is kinda useless not to mention ugly as fuck
why instal a theme if there is always shit in front of it

You can look at the Classic Theme Restorer extension to restore some functionality that was lost with the arrival of the Australis style in Firefox 29.
*Classic Theme Restorer: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/
You can check the settings of the CTR extension via its Options/Preferences button on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" page.

  • Why does Firefox keep installing Miro with every new update ?

Some months ago I downloaded Miro, although I never made much use of it.After the recent Firefox update to 3.6.4 I noticed that used memory suddenly jumped by around 20 % and when I investigated in Resource Monitor I found that Miro had started running 2 processes in the background which were consuming considerable resources. I also found that my address bar had been hijacked by a change in the keyword:URlL setting. None of these problems had come up prior to the 3.6.4 update. I uninstalled Miro, restored my keyword setting, and successfully killed it's processes. I used Revo uninstaller pro and I am certain that nothing was left behind. But after the next Firefox update to 3.6.6 I noticed a sudden jump in memory usage and then discovered that Miro had re-installed and had begun running the same 2 processes. I have now gone to considerable time and trouble to deal with this problem twice in one week and I would appreciate an explanation as to why Miro is re-installing every time i update Firefox.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I udated to 3.6.4, then 3.6.6

firefox keeps installing and uninstalling java on my windows xp pro computers. I hope this gets addressed before I switch to chrome.

  • Why does Firefox disable a Roboform extension each time it opens making me enable it each time

I am using the latest versions of Firefox (22) and Roboform ( 7.9.0) with the Firefox extension.
I have used both programs successfully together for many years.
The problem MAY have been evident in just the previous versions of either or both programs.
No other extensions are adversely affected.
I am using Windows 7 with all updates.

What does the State line of this plugin say on the about:plugins page?
You can open about: pages via the location bar just like you open web pages.
Make sure that you have installed the latest version.
Try to delete the pluginreg.dat file in the Firefox Profile Folder and maybe addons.sqlite as well to reset the plugin registry databases.

  • Why does Firefox work so poorly with Twitter compared to Opera?

When typing in the "What's Happening?" field on Twitter, my Netbook (Intel Atom n450) cpu goes straight up to max frequency and heavy utilization and stays pegged there until, apparently, the whole SoC (System on Chip) crashes and screen flashes white. Also there is heavy lag as I enter characters faster than they get displayed. I installed Opera web-browser on my Netbook and typing on Twitter is just like typing in Notepad with Opera. I'm guessing that something about the way that Firefox processes the javascript of Twitter in regard to character counting/scanning etc. is causing unnecessarily extreme cpu load.

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.
If the problem does not disappear when all add-ons are disabled, please tell me, so we can work from there. Please have no fear of following my instructions to the line, as all can be easily undone.

  • Why does Firefox intermittently quit responding with MS Word 2002 open?

I've noticed when I have MS Word 2002 (sp-3) open, Firefox will start intermittently hanging. No error message. I've also noticed, I can go to the task bar and minimize it, and then immediately maximize the Firefox tab, and it start working for a little bit. Quite irritating in the middle of a password input, since you sometimes forget where you were. This started happening about 4 to 6 Firefox versions ago. What's interesting, with MS Excel open, it's not an issue. It also doesn't make a difference which one was launched first. Same problem, and it's a very short time between hangs, maybe 15 to 30 seconds. I close MS Word, and there's no Firefox issues. I cut and past paragraphs etc, into my Word Docs for future reference, and my PC library, since sometimes you come back to the weblink, and they are gone. Therefore, I like to have both open. My work around is to keep opening and closing Word. :-/
No other issues come to mind. I really prefer Firefox, but if I'm in Word for any length of time, I have to use one of my other 3 browsers, which have no issues with Word. IE, Chrome, and Opera.
Personal Build System: Windows 7 Pro, 64bit, (sp-1), AMD Phenom II, A4 x840, 3.2Ghz, w/ 8GB Ram, Windows Exp 5.9, AMD Radeon HD6570, 2gb video ram) on MSI mobo 880G-E45.

I have a status bar on my desktop that shows processor and memory usage. The memory normally stays between 20% and upper 30 % range. Not sure that I've ever seen it above 50%. It's at 37% (of 8gb) right now with 5 IE tabs going, which I've had 15 or more open with no issues(in both IE and Firefox)...and Excel is open, and 3 Firefox windows are open, along with several other applications. I just launched Word, and the memory didn't change. I just closed it so I could continue typing. I hate replacing it, when it works fine, and I've had no issues other than this. Since it was working fine, until 4 to 6 Firefox versions ago, It has to be something different with that or one of the plug-ins possibly, although I think I went through deactivating all the plug-ins per a post I saw about a year ago. Wasn't the same issue though, but I thought it might help. It was a waste of time, so I reactivated a select handful. '''That's a lot of $$ to spend, especially if that's not the issue.''' 'had rather put that $ on my next PC build. :-) I have the whole Office Suite.

  • Why does Firefox 3.6 conflict with Adobe Flash Player 10.1?

I HAD MLB.TV running, but had to reboot the OS (XP Pro)
and now Adobe FP won't load.

  • Why does Firefox automatically install it's latest update, even after I've spent months clicking the 'no' button whenever I've been asked to update?

For months Firefox has been providing me with a little dialogue box asking whether I want to update to the latest version. This has been annoying, but each time I have politely clicked the button saying that 'no, I do not wish to update at this time', allowing me to get on with my day using my preferred version of Firefox. However, just moments ago when I most recently opened my Firefox browser, a simple look at the tabs told me that Firefox had updated itself without my permission (something which has happened in the past and really ticks me off). Whenever this problem has presented itself to me in the past, however, I have simply been able to go onto the Firefox website and download my old version. When I tried doing that this time around however, I somehow keep getting stuck with the latest version, which is extremely rankling and the sole reason for my complaint. If Firefox would just stop inviting it's new versions onto my computer whenever it felt like it, I wouldn't be seriously inconvenienced whenever I felt like browsing the internet. It also seems to be harder to find the old versions of Firefox than it used to be, as I am having a devil of a time trying to find my old version (though that may just be me). Frankly, if Firefox would just stop automatically updating itself, it would save me a lot of unnecessary stress and hassle.

if i have to read any comment by matt n again i will throw up...in my mouth. i have gone all over google trying to figure out what the f ff did to me without my permission, i have updates turned off so there should be no prompting to restart, there should be a polite offer not a forced update. i am angry and so are a ton of people.
everytime i go to a new complaint, another angry fellow ff user there is matt n with his infuriating smiling little picture...telling me about the awesome safety and security of the new ff...ignoring that a supposed safe but ugly and unusable browser is worse than a customized, beautiful, well functioning browser...with supposed safety issues. i am so angry i cannot express how this has wasted my time. i have been online for 2 hours now figuring out how to fix, apparently i cannot. my old theme is not compatible now...so i am screwed.
good bye. if i wanted chrome i would have had chrome. but i have no choice now.

  • Updated to Firefox 5, and now my Yahoo Toolbar won't show any of the buttons.

I delayed updating to Firefox, because V3 worked so well and V4 sucked. But as a security concern, I finally made the upgrade and discovered my Yahoo Toolbar isn't working properly.
The Toolbar is there, but the buttons I've all added are gone. I can't make changes in preferences, the toolbar is enabled... I just have no buttons.
I've upgraded to the most recent Toolbar, which was supposed to work with Firefox 5... but it doesn't.
    Help!

My FF6.0 was fine till it updated (automatically) and then no toolbar buttons.

Go to Tools|Options|Applications. The first 4 entries relate to Adobe. Make sure that the association is for your 9.1 version. If it's not, click the association that is showing. You will get a downward pointing triangle at the right. Click on it and see if 9.1 is listed. If so, select it. Do the same for the other Adobe items.
You might also want to check "Folder Options" in the Windows Control Panel. In the "File Types" tab you will find all of the file extensions and the programs they are associated with. Scroll down to the PDF extension and insure it's associated with an "Adobe Acrobat Document. If not, click on the <change> button and find adobe in the program list.
Just to let you know, Adobe Reader is now up to version 9.4. You can go to Adobe's website to download the latest.

  • Why does Firefox no longer work with Slate or AIM?

    1. On Slate.com I allow all scripts to run; however, even though most links on the pages work, I can no longer view comments in articles -- the function to open the comments simply does not work.
    2. When I load the standalone desktop AIM program, until Firefox 37 I was able to click the mail icon and go directly to my AOL mail; this no longer works, but instead logs me out of AOL and I have to log in again.
I don't know if these are related, but both appeared when I allowed an upgrade to version 37.

  • Why does firefox not display photos with Hot spot slices in them

I took a photo and brought it into Fireworks and created a graphic map with hot spots to certain countries. While this looks great on Internet Explorer its not showing properly in firefox at all. http://www.aist.org/chapters/chaptermap.htm
    Heres the example .

That website is an MS Office document that has VML content for the images.<br />
You can see that as green comment code in the page source (View > Page Source)<br />
Only IE can display such a document properly.
You need to save that page as W3C compliant HTML code and make sure that you disable VML to make it work in all browsers.
Looks that something is wrong with the image count for images used when VML is not enabled.

  • Why does Firefox get hung up, when opening new pages? I've tried disabling plugins and extensions to no avail.

Initially, when I open Firefox everything opens very quickly. However, after several minutes it gets hung up when opening new pages. I have close the browser and reopen it to start over. But each time it does the same thing. Works well at first then poops out. The trouble started yesterday. Before then, I never had any problems.
I've tried disabling all the plugins and extensions, but it doesn't make any difference.

  • Why does Firefox not include FOX NEWS in their pre-loaded "News" tab on the toolbar???

There are 9 different "news" sources. It seems that everybody is so biased against Fox News, yet they produce legitimate news as every other network. Please change this, Firefox, for all your users.

  • HT202157 Why does my apple TV say it needs hdcp compatibility.  It never said that before.  Now my apple tv is not working.

Why does my apple TV say it needs hdcp compatibility.  It never said that before.  Now my apple tv is not working.

    Hello Rickpoulette,
The following article provides further information and could very well help get your Apple TV and your television cooperating again.
If HDCP authentication does not succeed, you may see one of the following symptoms:
A message may appear on your television stating "This content requires HDCP for playback. HDCP isn't supported by your HDMI connection."
You may see periodic bands of static, or full screen static, flashing across your TV screen.
If you are experiencing either of the symptoms above, try playing the same content again for at least another 10 seconds. If the issue persists, try the following steps until the issue is resolved:
Connect your Apple TV (2nd generation) directly to your HDTV using an HDMI cable.
Set your Apple TV and HDTV to off or sleep mode
From the Apple TV interface, select: Settings -> Sleep Now.
Turn off your TV and wait for about 10 seconds.
    Turn your TV back on.
Press the Select button on your Apple TV remote to wake your Apple TV.
Some HDTVs may need a firmware update. Consult your TV manufacturer's user manual or online support pages for additional information about how to update your TV's firmware.
If available, try using a different HDMI to HDMI cable, such as an Apple HDMI to HDMI cable, directly between your Apple TV (2nd generation) and 720p HDCP-compatible HDTV.
