Why does it shuts down by itself after it goes to sleep fo a while?

An Apple technical adviser indicated to me to the followig, but it did not help, so I'm back to square 1

Go to the preferences folder and then look for the following files and delete them
com.apple.systempreferences.plist com.apple.systemuiserver.plist then restart your computer.
It did not solve the problem.
It sounds like the power manager or the power management settings are not behaving right.
The iMac is 2 days old. What else can I do?

Why does Premiere shut down my PC after 30 mins of editing?

Today I downloaded trial version of Premiere CS6.0.0.0 from Adobe site onto a PC. After 30 mins approx of editing the whole computer crashes and shuts down and I need to turn it on again. Has anyone else had this? The PC is brand new and a good spec (see below). I was editing HD 1080 footage.

Why is Mozilla shutting down by itself ?

Why is Mozilla shutting down bt itself. I seem to happen about every 24 hours. It just shuts down for no reason and has to be re-started.

What exactly happens and do you get any error messages ?
Is it the whole computer that shuts down or just the Firefox browser ?
Quite a few possible reasons but two are
# The computer overheats.
# You run out of memory
If your computer has a variable speed fan you will probably note that running at high speed, if you are in danger of overheating. Software is available that will monitor and check temperatures. Dust build up or obstructed ventilation are possible causes, & probably noticeable if watching videos.
Firefox or the computer may crash in some circumstances if there is no more available RAM memory or HDD space. That is probably more likely to cause a Firefox crash rather than the whole computer crashing.

Emctl shutting down by itself after a while

I just got 10.1.0.3 installed and a 9i database converted. I can get the Database Control started (emctl start dbconsole) and use it, however, after a while emctl shuts down by itself. Below is what occurs in emagent.trc just before emctl shuts itself down - apparantly gracefully. All help appreciated

SathThere is but a more important question is why does it quit every few days. Solve that problem and you'll be more ahead than with the solution you asked or originally.
You can put the program on a timer and have ti launch every so often; you'll have to have it check to see if it's in memory when you do and if it is, then close the launcher and just let the previous running instance continue.

Why does iTunes shut down IMMEDIATELY after opening?

I'm running the latest version of iTunes on Windows 7 Home Premium. Immediately upon opening iTunes (5-10 seconds later) it shuts down and I get an error message that says "iTunes has stopped working." That's it. No explanation. The computer is 2 years old and I've never had this problem before. It started last week (when I was running a previous version of iTunes), so today I thought I'd upgrade to the latest iTunes and it would solve the problem. No such luck.
Any help? PLEASE...

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

This problem appears to have gone away, not sure why but I have a possible theory. This is only a theory on my part as I'm not knowledgeable on the inner workings of Firefox. When I installed Firefox 18 it had all the automatic updating options turned on by default. By the time I turned them all off, I'm assuming it had started to download updates for all the plugins and addons, like java, quicktime etc. etc. etc. even though I hadn't personally initiated those downloads and updates. My theory is that once those downloads had started, even though I had turned off the automatic updating, it was going to continue downloading the updates that had started and was not going to stop until it had done so.
I do not disable the anti-phishing and evil website detection stuff but I seriously doubt the updating for those items would have consisted of 89 megabytes of data but I could be wrong.
So for now, I'll close this out and mark it solved and continue to monitor to see if I have any more "weirdness" go on.

Hey everyone! I'm hoping you can help me because I can't seem to find any answers online or google. I just downloaded the free trial version of Lightroom and no matter what I click (yes, no matter what...whether it's trying to get to "library", "develop", "file", etc), Lightroom automatically shuts downs down on me. I've also tried to uninstall and reinstall it a few times as well.

I have a Satellite L655D-S5076 and after booting up i can go about my business for anywhere from 1-5 minutes before it shuts down. It doesn't get a shut down screen or anything just shuts off. I have been looking around and have read some things like clean the fan and i did and that didn't work so i system restored it back to the earliest point i could and still that didn't help. I've also read on one of these forums that it could be the power button? At this point i have no idea what it could be, BIOS? Windows?... I do however already need a new copy of windows because it has an unofficial version of windows on it but i have another computer with the same thing and it runs just fine. Basically i'm just looking for someone who's had this problem and was able to fix theirs.

Why does Computer shut down in middle of burning DVD?

Please help me! I am so frustrated. I have been using PE3 with no problems for over a year. This past week I downloaded the free trial version of PE4 and it kept crashing so I removed it. I made a project in PE3 and it's been crashing every time I try to burn to DVD. So I also removed and re-installed PE3 and re-created the project and once again it gets so far into the burning and then the computer shuts down. This never happened before and has only happened since I had PE4 on my machine, which I removed through add/remove programs. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

I have deleted Quicktime and checked to make sure my audio driver is up to date, it is. My video files are MPEGs and I do have some stills on the timeline but when I removed them it still crashed.
Steve - I have done everything except #1 and nothing works. I cannot burn to a folder.
Here's what's different and maybe the culprit(s). This is the first project since -
1. I downloaded the PE4 trial version. I have since removed it and re-installed PE3 with patch. (Vista still crash)
2. Best buy installed SP1 on my system - hmmm, could SP1 give me this issue?

Hi, whenever i log onto Facebook, safari shuts down immediately. I don't know how to solve this problem and have already tried resetting Safari to no result. I get an error message but thats all. If anyone could tell me how to solve this problem that would be great!

If you post a crash report, hopefully we can help you.
If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash information.
Copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply.
If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.
One thing to try before you do that. Make sure your system software is up to date.
Click the Apple  menu (top left in your screen) then click: Software Update ...

Just deleting and reinstalling the software won't delete your music. Your music is stored on your computer. But, you should backup your iTunes purchases on a timely basis regardless.

I have tried that but it makes no difference at all, the only way I have found to get continues sound is to open and set a keynote presentation onto play and dimmed the screen using the function key and adjusting it manually so as not to kicker my screen, there must be an easier way than this.

Try a SMC reset. The article covers when this is required, but doing this will not affect anything.

1. Double-click the Home button to see all Inactive Apps in Task Bar
2. Hold the Apps down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
3. Tap the minus sign to close App
4. Tap center of screen to return to Home Screen
5. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider
