Why does my apple id show when i send text messages?

Since I updated my iphone to ios 5.0.1, the person I'm texting sees that they've received a message from my apple id instead of my phone number. How do I change this so I show as the contact they have saved in their phone?

This must be a new glitsch. Mine is doing this too and sending all messages to all of the devices on my icloud account. Very irritating. Is this recent? Mine just started two days ago.

Whenever I'm texting someone and I tap the voice button to use talk to text, the screen dims to black on my 5s, if my face gets close to the phone.
Also, if I put the phone up to my ear or near my face whenever I have text message convo window open, the phone beeps and dims. It starts trying to record a memo or something?
I'm jailbroken and I have never seen this happen before. Any ideas on what is going on?

We really do not support jail broken devices as it violates the terms of this site. That said the dimming when the phone gets close to your face is a normal function via a proximity sensor to stop inadvertent button triggers

Why do deleted contacts still show when starting new text messages?

I have an iPhone 4s. I've deleted many contacts but if I start a new text message that begins with the letter of someones contact I deleted, they show up. How can this history be deleted? I have a friend with an iPhone 5 and this does not happen on that model.

just thought you like to know having apple do a hard reset to my phone didn't fix the problem I still have the deleted contact show up when I text anyone who has the same letters in their name. Infact the apple store employees and phone operators told me I completely stumped them and they have no idea how to fix this since that contact does not show up anywere else and a hard reset also failed. they said that eventually maybe my phone will fix itself with one of there upgrades but if I should figure out how to fix it on my own to please let them know how I did it.

You need to link your iPhone number to Messages - and Facetime if you use it. For Messages go to Settings>Messages>Send and Receive at>You can be reached by iMessage at. If your phone number is showing there, select it as your Contact address. If it doesn't appear in there, take a look at the end of this article for help.

Is my name even sent when I send text messages? If so, is there a way to not display my name when I send text messages? When sending a text message, I would like to only display my phone number.

is it possible for the sender not to have my name in there contacts... and just typed my number?..
It is possible for the recipent not to have your name for your number in their address book for your contact info, but the recipent must do that.
So does that mean just my number will show when i send a text to the person using an android phone?

Have you ever received a text from a phone number that is not in your address book? If so, what do you see? You should see the phone number only. The same applies for someone you are sending a text to.

Having seperate apple ID's will fix it, but here's how to fix it without adding a new ID.
Go to settings, messages, send and receive, be sure your number is the only one checked. If her number is checked as well you will receive your texts to her as well.

My friend just purchased an iphone 4s and he is having real problems with the texts and things. He sends text messages and they go to other people on his contacts list (yes, he has hit the correct name!) They appear to go to nearby iphones, and even people who are not on his contact list. It is particularly bad at his work where there is more than one iphone. Anyone else had this problem//know how to fix it?? The phone has been synchronized.

Hi, I'm looking for the answer to the same question. My iPhone 4S recently sent a reply sms to a lot of unintended recipients some of whom weren't even in my phone book. It also caused me a lot of problems and I haven't been able to find out why. Apple are investigating but the damage is already done and I now don't trust the phone at all.

You sent an iMessage, not a text message as in SMS/MMS.
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You can be reached by iMessage at. If you don't want to be reached at your Apple ID email address with iMessage, deselect it there.
Below Start new conversations from, make sure your cell phone number is selected.

Why does a track not pan when you send it to Itunes?

I'm trying to pan two differnt tracks directly to the left and directly to the right.
but when I send it to I tunes both tracks end up evenly to the center. how do I fix this?

That shouldn't happen. Do you have the "sound enhancement" checked in iTunes? That does strange things to files sometimes.

Why does my email signature disappear when i send pictures?

i am having issuer with sending pictutres via email.
if i use the insert image i can only select a single image at a time ... slow..
so to avoid this time waste i go to pictures, select the images i want and click share via mail option
and the images appear along with my signature line.
when the mail is recieved my signature has disappeared.

Like I stated before, my clients are able to sign this document when I send it to them, but it is returned to me with their signature (not in the signature field, but at the end of the document), and my signature is missing. I tested this on myself - my signature is missing when they receive it.

Why does my electronic signature disappear when I send document to be signed by client

I converted a word document into PDF. I edited this document, added form fields for client to fill out. I need to be able to add both my and my client's signatures. I first tried to add my own digital signature, but it would not allow me to send it to my client properly because it was being read as already signed; they were not able to fill any fields. I then added 2 digital signature areas enabling echosign, one for me to sign and one for them to sign. I successfully added my signature:
Saved this document, uploaded it to echosign and successfully sent to my client. My client signed, but the PDF I received back only has her signature; and her signature is at the bottom, not on the signature line as the screen shot previously with my signature.
Signature is at the end of contract with the certificate of signature on the following page. I'm not posting the screenshot as it shares personal information of my client.
Help would be appreciated. I just need to understand how to enter my signature along with their so that we are both bound to the agreement. Otherwise I am still wet signing, which kind of defeats the whole purpose.

This is an iMessage, not a text message as in SMS/MMS via your cell phone carrier's network.
This means you have iMessage enabled on each device with the same Apple ID. This is by design and intention when using the same Apple ID on multiple Apple computers and iOS devices. I have iMessage enabled on my Mac, on my iPhone, and on my iPad with the same Apple ID and all my iMessages are kept synced between all three.

Using More than One iDevice on the Same Computer
This applies mainly to couples who are adding another device and do not want their email, messages, etc. being duplicated on both devices. To begin read: How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer. You need to establish a separate Apple ID and password for whomever will use the new iDevice. See Apple - My Apple ID and Frequently asked questions about Apple ID. The easiest way is to do this on the computer using iTunes: iTunes- How to set up an Apple ID within iTunes.
On the computer create a new user account for the person with the new iDevice. This will be the user account that person will always use. He/She will no longer use the other user account. This way that person will have a separate iTunes Library. Note that once done you cannot "share" apps under a single Apple ID. Each of you must purchase your own apps under your own Apple ID. When you decide to split up like this one of you will need to re-purchase the apps that they want to use.
Start by transferring the new device(s) to a new account along with all your data. Save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless they are already in the camera roll) by opening your Photos app, tap on Albums icon at the bottom. Now, tap on My Photo Stream album; tap Select; tap on the photos you want to select;, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow) in the lower left corner; then tap Save to Camera Roll.
If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep then you need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself. Later you can copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.
Tap on Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; the person keeping the current account will not be affected,) provide the password to turn off Find My Phone and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted. Sign in with a different Apple ID to create your new account. Choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete the other person's data from your account.

Why does my iphone not alert me of a text message while the screen is locked?

Ever since i updated my phone to iOS6, when my phone is locked it will not vibrate or ring when i recieve a text message but if my phone is unlocked it will. how do i fix this

After I installed iOS6 my phone doesd the same thing. Personally, I don't like having my messages show up in the lock screen and with iOS5 I never had this issue. I have noticed that I don't get an alert when I leave my phone with the messages window open and the phone is in sleep mode. However, when I leave my phone on the home screen and it is in sleep mode, I do get an alert tone. More times than not, I end up leaving my phone with the messages window open. Does anyone know of a way for it to work like it did before? Thanks for the help!
